If there were another way to study the brain and work towards treating paralysis, I'd be against this type of research. So yes, the ends justify the means -- wherein the means are actually not awful. What do you see in this video? I have some ethical concerns with the procedures followed: lack of a vet present, allowing the scalp to be exposed post surgery isn't hygienic. Beyond that, the lethargy at the end is to be expected following sedation.

Denn die falschen Rückschlüsse, die aus Tierexperimenten gezogen werden, dienen nicht selten der Rechtfertigung, für den Menschen schädliche Produkte oder Technologien auf den Markt zu bringen.

Wir brauchen nicht mehr Tierversuche, sondern neue, intelligente Lösungsansätze. Tierversuchsfreie Forschungsmethoden bieten solche Möglichkeiten. Deshalb müssen finanzielle und personelle Mittel, die bisher ganz selbstverständlich in Tierexperimente geflossen sind, für eine tierversuchsfreie Forschung freigegeben werden.

Honestly, let me free in that facility. In a garbage country like Israel, I could get away with torturing the people who are doing things like this, and I would love every second of it. The only hard part would be, what do I do with the poor suffering helpless animals!?
