I am half german and half greek and watch those comments in utter amusement.
Corruption is and was always bad in greece. Crying over the war doesnt help you and you embarass even me with your whining. Germany was dust after ww2. Not only that, the main reason WHY there was a WW2 to begin with were people like you putting all the blame on germany.
But instead of looking how Germany managed to pull itself together we stayed there and watched. Glad im living in the right country atm.

If you really want to know how Germany got on it's feet after WW2, read the interview of Dr. Albrecht Ritschl on Der Spiegel (June 21, 2011) or on guardian.co.uk (June 21, 2011).
There you'll see that Germany's nowadays economic miracle is based on three HUGE bankruptcies AND on the conventional obligations which this country never fulfilled (to this day) as it should.
If after what you read you're still feeling amused, then you probably aren't objective but biased, prejudiced...

Read the comments under the guardian article. There are so many points, I dont even need to make one here.
Only "my people" are still believing Germany needs to pay sth, the rest moved on. And how can I be biased well if I wasnt born in Greece to a greek mother i would argue even more agressivly.
Everyone started with ashes after WW2, but Germany even with the world hating it, still managed to integrate themselves and rise again. Blame yourself, everything else is childish.

1.The loan that Germany took by force, is not reparation. It's a loan under the international trade laws. Germany never refused it's existance, they just keep avoiding payment.
2.You should know,you eat what they serve you. The voters are voting the candidates for election. No one can control their way up to this point.
3.You've read the interview?It's crystal clear.
4.This loan IS NOT THE ANSWER TO GREECE'S problems. It's just Germany's conventional obligation. They must pay it.

If something was left over from Germany after the war and not burned to ashes, not to forget that Germany lost large amounts of its population. Not only that they lost their best scientists to the USA or the Russians. And STILL managed to rise again through hard work.
Who said Greeks are dishonest and lazy? Some shabby papers but not only in Germany. Most here think you are a victim of your politicians and the corruption going almost through every part of the system.

IF Dr. Albrecht Ritschl was NOBODY, then Der Spiegel wouldn't have his interview. He's an economy historian and very respectful in what he does.
IF he had a different opinion then they wouldn't have his interview too, 'cause then he would be on the road of disinformation that all the German goverments drew (note that this was only for Germans).
The comments under the interview are from NOT important people whose opinions wouldn't count in a court of law.

I gave you enough reasons, there isnt a nazi germany anymore which could pay you back. Also Germany is not reunited yet. One-third of germanys former landmass is still missing.
The general view is supported by bigger names than some rnd Dr. meaning almost everyone else not only germans. He is not important in comparison.

The main problem in the internet's forums, is that people with no academic knowledge on a matter, talk about it as if they had one.
Germany IS REUNITED. The convention explicitly defines that when this happens Germany should pay what it owes and IT MEANS the reparations. YES, they AVOID 2 pay 4 reparations 2.
Still, THIS has nothing to do with the loan they owe 2Greece.

Greece required this loan in 1945,6,7, 64, 65, 66, 74, 87, 95. Germany REFUSES.
AND although the payment of the loan is not reparations, let me remind you that the nazis destroyed 89 cities and burned 1700 villages with their population. 13% of Greece's CIVILIANS got murdered.

I spent 5 days during summer in Deautchland, and particular in Dusseldorf and even i didn't know good enough the german language i could recognise the propaganda of media from the pictures they were showing from Griechenland and most of all from Deutshe-Welle and SpiegelTV. If you want to learn the reality just ask Germans who spent their vacations in Greece or german colleague students who study in greek's universities. By the way i had a great time in Germany !!

Enough is enough! You really don't have any idea at all what we're going trough in greece!Many people commited Suicide in order to get their family the efapaks so to not lose the house from the banks, parents who have 3 kids or more are giving their kids to Organisations of Orphan Kids because they dont have money to raise them up, people becoming robbers stealing Food and no Money etc. If you were in greece for a few days you would see the truth they are hiding from you!

In greece we love Germans, we just hate the german govenment and media as well as the greeks one. Full of propaganda all these months like saying greeks are lazy, they dont go to work,they're doin riots all the time etc. Or for example the german's media show 2 fat greeks and saying "look in greece they are all fat", or a couple lying on a beach "look greek people are lazy", or show greek people on a saturday night club "oh look again, greeks spent german's money on clubs and alcohol" .
