I have 4g ram, i5-430m GTS 360m, and i cant run this game on high. my resolution is 1080p, but if i lower my resolution the box doesnt fit the screen...im guessing my res is whats hurting my performance...

Don't bash a product just because you got a bad one. This laptop is great for just about anything, and the price for the hardware is amazing. It's a definite buy in my opinion.

@guaranic I'm not sure about the exact temperature, but you shouldn't have to worry unless it's on a surface like carpet or sand (GOD forbid that you put your laptop on sand like my friend did).

Trust me, even though the side of the computer SEEMS hot, its because the laptop has pretty efficient cooling. All the heat is shunted out the side, making the inside quite a bit cooler. You'll have more worries about whatever's to your laptop's left side rather than the actual unit!

@guaranic I just installed Speedfan and ran it. While playing both Supreme Commander (CPU heavy) and Crysis (GPU heavy) my CPU temperatures never went above 66 degrees celcius and my GPU temperature never went above 70 degrees celsius.

My guess is either that your unit somehow puts out more heat than mine (unlikely) or that yours is not properly ventilated.

@guaranic Make sure the laptop is on a flat surface with nothing within 2 feet of the side fan. If that doesn't work, prop the laptop up on coasters (1 on each corner). I used to do that with my Toshiba Satellite, and it worked wonders at keeping the system stable (my model was known for constant bluescreening when not properly ventilated).

@keyzin asus is a much better computer than gateway.. asus makes all there own parts that is except the processor and video card.. the asus models over 700 bucks usually have a 1 year accidental coverage on them provided by asus and then a 2 year manufacture after that..

Update, This laptop is great overall love it. However, I, along with a few other users have an issue where audio will not work on the internal speakers. You still get sound from the audio jack via via hadphones but not from the built in ones. Im not sure whether its a windows7 driver issue. I managed to find a temporary fix to that issue. For the fix to work, u have to restart your computer each time u want to switch between the speakers & headphones.Buy the laptop knowing that it could happen.

hey norad6, just a little tip you can turn the weapon inertia down and you get about 5 fps more. and also disabling your aiming reticle for better fps too. that is if you are up to the challenge of not having a reticle.

He got Fraps on, but it was not recording the video, as you can see him pointing at the laptop's screen at the beginig of the video. The fraps was just there to count the Frames Per Second of the games, and that doesn't take any significant performance off the games.

Did you have to update the drivers before you played crysis. I tried crysis with all settings on high and ant aliasing on 2x, set full screen with 1366x768. After a couple of minutes it crashes. tried it twice. I would appreciate you advice.

I wonder why they went from the GTX260m to the GTS360m. I understand that the GTX260 is a better chip.

Yeah, I like the GTX260m too. I think it has to do with efficiency or something--the GTS360m has GDDR5 memory and directx 10.1 while the 260m has GDDR3 and directx 10 but higher clock and more pipelines.

I was sort of prejudiced against the 360m, but I'll take either of them now.

Just use the Power4Gear Hybrid program that came with your system. Select High Performance, and then put turbo mode onto extreme turbo. The icon should change and be on fire. That's the safest overclock that I would do right now.

im torn between the two at the moment. But I'll make my purchase in a few days. One of the guys in the laptop forums said that while benchmarking the two running crysis on high settings g60jx got 28-34 fps average and g60vx got 32-34 fps average. The g60vx has the better card, but the jx sports an i5 making it better to run things other than gaming.

I have this same laptop, it works well with most games, especially ones from about a year or so. 25fps on Crysis may be playable until you get into intense battle sequences, then is will drop down to unplyable 12 or so. I do like the laptop and for most games its great. The 360m GTS is slighty less powerful than the prior version which had the 260m GTX. Even with DDR5 ram its doesnt run as smooth. The I5 processor does help however. Mass effect to looks great. Not a crysis fan anyways. Good vid.
