Best pass I ever saw was the opposite -- F-18D at very slow speed / high angle of attack. Looked like it was standing on its tail and moving maybe 100 mph in the forward direction. Then just powered up and over into normal level flight. CAG on IKE flying it in March 2009 during an airshow for VIPs.
