  • what if you don't hit the button right on the beat does it make up for it? quantify it?

  • Was on the fence about getting one of these, but this tutorial really showed how versatile and easy to use this looper is. Thanks for the great walkthrough! Just purchased one on ebay. Why is the mail so sloooooow!?

  • Awsome bruva!...For some one like me who is has dyslexia and can't understand word instructions manuals this is a god send mate. Thanx for your time. I hope Boss are paying you for this because its this tutorial that is making me buy a Boss RC 300.. thumbs up!

    Damon ;)

  • Thanks a lot for sharing, Maybe you can help me, I've got the rc-300 but I cant split my input signals so that my mic input is going to the pa system and my guitar is going to my amps? It works right when it is recorded and the tracks is set to sub or main output, but as I record or just play or sing along with my loops, I hear them either from the sup, main or both output at same time, cant I split the signals, do you know if thats possible? Thanks again for sharing that's great : - )

  • This was a fantastic video. Thanks for the insight.

  • Great thanks for the inspiration and your generous attitude towards us newbies! I have a question. You use the GT10 that includes a (very basic) looper, together with the RC300 that includes some (rather basic) effects. If you had to perform with just either one of them, which would it be? Have you tried doing just that?

  • @mumiemonstret The 300 would give more ability for sure

  • hi , is the 300 to much of a learning curve for a total beginner ? its just i see the single a double pedal setup's and think for the extra money that the 300 is so much more looking . regards a budding looper lol ps keep the tunes coming your dam good at it mate .

  • @jinxym depends what you wanting to do. if your wanting to build full songs similar to this then id say either rc50 or rc300. if your just playing instruments for improv then id say the rc 3 or rc30

  • @ElijahMcBeats looking at the rc30 it retails at 250 new , the rc 300 is only 150 more for what looks like so much more . im thinking about just mucking around on my ukulele/harmonica , but i like the idea of being able to do improv beats and random sillyness on it lol , looking at resale prices being so high i feel i cant go wrong with the 300 . thanks for replying :) mucho appreciated

  • @jinxym no its easy - once you have learnt to set up the 3 tracks in the various ways you should be flying....very intuitive

  • @Stuie1973 your correct lol the tricky part is the timing ive had the rc300 now for a couple of days and i must say its pretty easy to work with , i am a total novice on it and a total novice on most instruments lol but last night i rocked

  • Thank you man!!!! greetings from Italy!!

  • What's the difference between the 300 and the 50? If i'm just starting out, which one would be best to get for acoustic/vocal use, possibly live.

    Thanks in advance

  • @golmuso just the way it opperates. both models will do the job

  • @golmuso theres not much in price so go for the 300 its extra features are great and there area few bugs ironed out from the 50

  • Thanks so much for doing this, I'm a guitarist / singer and this is my first proper looper so I looked it and went oh my lordy so top man for doing this! Right onto your next one! :)

  • GREAT STUFF. PLEASE POST PART 2!! :) Cheers!

  • Question:

if you record your forst loops as master. so you can record the track2 multiple lengths of your masterloop. but in your video it seems that you have to set manually how many measures the track two has. is this not intuitive as the boomerang. it set the number of measures on the fly. the rc300 cant this?

  • @TanburaS for that you want the RC-50

  • @TanburaS I just pulled the RC300 out of the box, set the measure time to "auto" (which I believe is the preset) and I can simply create my loop measures on the fly, without having to set any kind of timing beforehand. I'm listening to my test loop right now: Track one is "1234." Track two is, "ABCDEFGH." Track three is the entire Super Mario theme song. All in different times, playing on top of one another, without setting up anything ahead of time.

  • @TanburaS I apologize. I set it to "FREE" not "Auto." FREE allows you to create mixed measures on the fly.

  • I wanted to ask, because you selected for the voice effect the GT-10 BASS.. and not the GT-10 for GUITAR.. is much difference?.. thanks for the tutorial and thanks you very much if you could answer :)

  • @rea376 i got the GT10 BASS as i wanted the FX mainly for the bass frequency's.

  • Very Nice thank you !!! looking forward to part 2 any help is great !! Regards, TotallyKenny..

  • 4:44 Yea... and next to the RC-50 u have the GT-8... :P

    but still... good job...

  • I wish I could assign JUST the mic as you mentioned for example at 5:00... I believe the effects would be on all inputs...Bummer!...BTW, nice work...Thanks for sharing your deep understanding of this thing!

  • @1953MMike you can assign an effect to just one tracks input or output

  • @Stuie1973 also you would be best having an outboard effects unit...though the 18 or so effects with the rc300 are useable (not sure about the transpose/guitartobass fx i dont like them too warbly) you cannot have multilayer effects - and it is a bit fiddly changing the effects on the fly. it's nice having the inbuilt fx but if you have an outboard you wont use them.

  • Dude was you in wakefield lastnight in havana bar?

  • Hey man, great video. =) I was wondering if you know if you can set up the 300 to fade all 3 phase tracks simultaneously by pushing just one button. Instead of fading out each phase one at a time. On my 50 I could push the two pedals on the far right together and have the whole song fade out but I can seem to figure out how to on the 300. If this is even a feature. Thanks in advance!

  • Well explained! Looking forward to more info on this machine. I have the RC50 but am thinking of getting the 300 if it really is much better than mine. Boss doesn't seem to do much to help their customers out, which I think is not very clever of them, they'd sell more if they would employ people like you to do runthroughs like this.

btw, I like your music, keep on looping, bro!

  • Great vid - do you know if you can assign each pedal to its own output? - such as running vocals thru to its own output to PA?

  • Another hit my friend, bigup!

  • Really nice job going through the functionality and explaining this device. Your understanding of music is also helpful.

  • Would you recommend adding expression pedals/footswitches and which ones? I am going to order an RC 300 just wanted a pretty good amount of control...for example tap tempo and effect control...any other parameters that are worth adding a control for?

  • @thekslight ah good question. this is where it becomes fairly subjective to the user. the 300 as it is gives everything you would need to start out.

im close to finnishing writting my first track on the 300 and only needed 1 extra switch. im using an fs-6 but only one of the switches on it so far. i may post a breakdown of the song and how i made it when its done as i think people will be able to take a lot from it.

    your subscribed right?

  • FS6 dual switch fab for drums on/off / tap tempo/ effects inc/dec/ mem dec/inc also and add in a particular effect also ( direct) any pedal. can be assigned to do tons of functions ( great for live use) mic on/off etc also. RC also can be programmed to do each track of your live set also, and set up for a bass/ and guitar using main pedal/or any switches. hope this helps others out there. mem functions cn be changed instantly also (example mem 10 -mem 11 for the same song...!!!! oh yea ,

  • companies like boss, roland, etc need to realize that it's videos like this, that move beyond bullet points and features and focus on real world use and application are what really sell new gear. it astonishes me that they will release a new piece of kit and do nothing in the way of showing people how to get the most out of it. thanks to elijah for taking time away from creating his own music to show us how to get up and running. bravo!

  • @tngregory maybe Roland also know that people will post stuff like this up on youtube, so why throw money away... ;)

  • ive not noticed any lag and ive been really going for it. The RC-50 had moments of lag. it was hit and miss. sometimes it would do strange things that were unexplainable but i've noticed nothing on the 300. this sort of thing i think only time will tell

  • One more Q - I noticed many people talking about a "phrase lag bug" with the RC-3 and RC-30 when changing banks. I'm curious about the RC-300. It appears the RC-2 adn RC-20XL didn't have this problem. I'm not sure about the RC-50. The RC-300 could be quite powerful if it didn't have this "phrase lag bug". I doubt Boss will fix that in the RC-3 and RC-30 models which might make demand for the RC-2 and RC-20XL stick around for a while. It's interesting.

  • @JimAtwood The Phrase Lag still exists in the RC-300.I was told by the local Roland support here in Switzerland that it's a feature which come with the DSP ( Digital Signal Processing ) of each loop,if you want to play 2 or 3 consecutive "phrases" you can use the single track more, i have to admitt i was a little bit disappointed since Zero lag would have added some cool options...but i think for it's price, it's a great tool.

If you have more questions, feel free to contact me.

  • @sandroji the 300 has the lag too???

oh god..but there must be some way to get around it.

i mean so many people are using it - elijah for instance seems to trigger the loops via that other device, so does dubfx. (any idea what it is?)

i read you can elimante the lag by using an external footswitch like the fs-6 or something. any experience with that?

  • Great info about setting the measurements for each track. When I first bought the RC-300 I "though" the measurement setting was global and therefore similar to the RC-50 where you have one long loop and everything else follows. I see now that you can adjust the measure value for each track independently if correct. That is fantastic. Thank you!

  • @JimAtwood by the same method you can also set each track to free play and record for as long or as little as you want on each track

  • Harrr, better than any official overview published by Boss - thanks mate + keep your spirit!

Looking forward to your first jams on it - and can't wait to get my hands on one of these babies!

  • @yojeb Thanks mate, and if anyone from BOSS reads this... i SWARE i never asked this person to put this comment :D
