  • please he spend like a couple of months without playing baseball, i think it was like 8 months maybe less, so don't expect him to have a good game everyday, even the best players in mlb they go on a streak of 10-15 bad games, but cespedes got lots of talent-he is very fortunate, to the people who are doubting him because a couple of games that's fine, but check out how many Mlb teams were interested him, it proves something

  • Wish Boston had signed him, but this guy will be a beast in the majors.

  • Put him in the 3slot let's go A's

  • Look at where that pitch was...low and outside...and he hit it OVER the LF wall.

    How?????

  • Como dicen en Cuba, fue un tablazo barbaro hermano.

  • he hit 34 homeruns in cuba, thats a record in cuba and they only play like 90 games.

  • Lets go oakland....

  • Bien venido a oakland

  • Welcome to Oakland!! I love the signing. This guy is going to be a monster.

  • Welcome to the A's. Biggest signing since... I don't know. David Justice?

  • Welcome to... Oakland??

  • HEY MY PEOPLE THAT WAS A 97 MPH FAST BALL, TAKE IT EASY, THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. HE IS A BIG LIGGER. WAIT AND SEE

  • HEY YOUNIS, HOW DOES CASTRO'S DICK TASTE?

  • any of you has ever see him play baseball.. hello that guy is going to be a beast.. i have been watching him, since he started in cuba.. give him time

  • i was watching that advertisement on the bottom the whole time

  • Who's that pitcher?

  • You guys do realize that he's only 2 for 19 in the DWL right? He still has a lot work and improvement. That was great and all but most major league hitters can hit that. I'll be more impressed when he hits a homer off a good slider on the outer half.

  • can't wait to get this motherfucker on my fantasy team

  • Any major leaguer could have hit that out of the park, it was right at the waste.Id be more concerned if he didnt hit that out of the park.

  • @Salomon3068 I'd be more concerned that his waist has apparently turned into waste.

  • @Salomon3068 it was 97 MPH, lol you don't even know what you're talking about. Stop embarrassing yourself.

  • FUCK I HATE CATCHERS WHO SET UP LIKE THAT

  • He's going to look great wearing the Old English D!

  • great swing, he is going to be better night by night......

  • That was a 97mph fastball and he didnt got burn! That guy will be an impact player in any team, I dont think he is worth 50 millions for 5 years but just by the tools he have he is a lot better than some MLB players! No one knows how many of those HR and RBI he going to have in a 162 games seasson but he have the talent to be a 30 HR and 100 RBI guy!there is more talent in the rest of the world! I hit .593, 8 HR and 27 SB in 30 games of summer league and no one since to care!! Im only 24....lol

  • He has a lot of raw talent, but that only gets you so far. He's going to need to work really hard to be a star.

  • From what I have seen his hard swing does not make the ball go that far. He's swinging at short porches. The major league curve ball, slider, not to mention the 96 + fastballs will burn him alive. There are a lot of ripped ex-ballplayers working elsewhere outside of MLB.

  • @texasrangers2010

I know this is baseball, and just saying how is he doing, that's all, I'm not saying he does not got talent or he is a failure, just that he looks bad the first 3 or 4 games.

I know he will bat in the majors, you can see he got the talent.

  • This cuban guy is good, give him one more week and he will be brutal for Aguilas. Brutal la fuerza del cubano y lo mejor esta por llegar.

  • tremenda fuerza al bate ,pero no batea a la dos manos como kendry morales el mejor bateador cubano

  • Thats Ramiro Pena infielder for the Yankees flying out after the homerun.

  • Sammy Sosa. Check his bat for cork and his blood for PEDs. Also, check his birth certification for validity.

"Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come"

  • he cheated hard on that pitch, totally guessed FB, slider makes him look silly there

  • Comment removed

  • Sosa 2.0

  • 1:18 he says "Gimme toilet paper"

  • If that pitch was actually 97 kudos to him. But I find that hard to believe.

  • @blank38 if a sports channel radar gun isnt convincing enough, i dont know what is.

  • Is not like he is "killing the league", he is 3-22 batting .130, he has play in 5 games, he is looking much better the last 2 games, but he was looking bad the first 3, obviously he needs time to adjust.

  • @ninonaba Yeah, I don't really think he should be judged by his numbers in 5 games. Way to small of a sample size.

  • @ninonaba This is baseball dude, Albert Pujols started the season last year batting .150 through the first 10 games. Obviously that does not mean anything at all (seeing how he finished the year) FAILURE IS PART OF THE GAME. Yoenis Cespedes is going to be good for a Major League ball club, he doesnt have all this hype for no reason.

  • @ninonaba yeah he is hitting 3-22 when he hasn't played professional baseball in 9 months because of when the Cuban season is, obviously he is going to take some time to get his swing back. That's an unfair rip. Nobody could take 9 months off and come back hot. Yoenis will be a pretty good major leaguer, probably a borderline all-star or better.

  • #51 he's a huge Ichiro fan.

  • Im more interested in the catcher. doing the splits is impressive

  • @ksuowl2 a' la Ruiz

  • @ksuowl2 Looks a lot like Carlos Ruiz back there.

  • @ksuowl2 Carlos Ruiz does that too.

  • I dare him to watch a homerun like that in the majors. He will get drilled in his next at bat

  • Does his swing remind anyone of Sheffield?

  • @MultiChill83

    Sure does...

  • @MultiChill83 It has the same explosive feel to it, but his swing can get "long" at times. Sheffield never had that problem, hands were too quick.

  • @trl5949 That swing isn't long at all. He's very short to the ball. Has a long back swing but that shouldn't have anything to do with it.

  • @Hybrid1207 Totally agree that that swing wasn't long. What i meant was that early in this winter ball season he has struggled (he has looked much better the past two games, and having taken a year off, some struggles were to be expected), and it seemed to me that he was having trouble getting to the ball. No doubt he can be extremely quick to the ball, and has plus power, I just have some reservations about his ability to consistently hit major league curve balls.

  • @Hybrid1207 And you're right the back swing is irrelevant

  • @MultiChill83 He has the big finish at the end but i would have to see more say he is as fast as Sheff was

  • @MultiChill83 Hell yeah it does!!!

  • @MultiChill83 nope it reminds me of Willy Mo... hopefully im wrong

  • What was used to film this a totaster? OH WAIT! thats what they use down there.

  • he hasnt played in a year..still this pumps me up..quit crying like you dont like it. he is getting back into game shape and i commend him for doing so and giving us all a look at him play.

  • Cool now he's hitting 200 with 1 bomb... and boy he's going to get murdered in the mlb. He just went out and got an outside fastball while abandoning his entire backside. Then in the bush leagues stares struts and takes 10 minutes to round the bases. This rube needs work.

  • @tranzitms this was his 3rd game in quite a while. he hasnt been playing since defecting from cuba. and in the DR that (staring) is fine because he is def the biggest name there and the star of the show. he wont be doing that in the US

  • @tranzitms agreed. Long swing clearly looking to try to hit a bomb. i am more upset about his reaction, you are hitting like .189 and acting like Barry Bonds in 2001. Wait for that contract first at least...

  • @LudaChez That isn't a long swing at all. It is actually a pretty short swing. I'm not sure what you are looking at.

  • @Hybrid1207 long may be the wrong word to use, but he is lunging and pulling a ball he has no business pulling. that will not translate to MLB pitching at all. he tries that he will have some major struggles.

  • @LudaChez That I can agree with. The way he lunges at the ball could become a serious problem.

  • Still wouldn't want my team to sign him...

  • wow on the 15th pitch. im sure the tigers scouts were watching. if he likes money and winning he will be headed to the tigers and not crappy miami or chicago

  • @KSEsch434

Ha, if Chicago and Miami are crappy, what do you call that dumpster known as Detroit...?!?!?

  • @rmccuaig81 I'm pretty sure they were the second best team in the American League, dumb ass. You sound like a jealous Yankee fan

  • @KSEsch434 crappy Miami or Chicago? Clearly you do not mean the city because Detroit is a joke compared to both. You must mean the teams. Miami is vastly improved with a lot of talent while you play in the weak ALCentral. So yeah, keep dreaming.

  • @LudaChez I distinctly remember the Detroit Tigers defeating the New York Yankees in the ALDS last season. I'd certainly qualify that as competing against one of the best teams in the AL. As for Miami, they look decent on paper, but they play in the NL East and they'll be lucky to make the playoffs, even as a wild card. So yeah, what was it? Keep dreaming.

  • @tonyschitte no doubt the tigers contend, but don't sleep on the fish. They are spending money like crazy and the FO has made it very clear they are going all out for cespedes. If he pans out then he could be the piece that puts us over the top. He fits perfectly with the culture the team is trying to build. Either way, i respect the tigers because they are established, but at the end of the year ppl may have gained some respect for the marlins as well

  • @rjfishfan21 I like the Marlins on paper, but I don't expect the Phillies rotation to be any worse than they are now so I have to bet on them for the division. The Nats will be good if they land Fielder. There are some very good teams looking at the wild card in 2012, hopefully it comes down to the wire like the AL wild card in 2011. Maybe we will see the Marlins.

  • @tonyschitte you kind of missed the point there. it had to do with him saying "crappy miami" and me saying he is dreaming that. nothing crappy. team isnt the best, but far from crappy. the city, obviously, the very opposite. personally nothing against the tigers, big Miggy fan.

On that same note in a weak division and VMart going down it will be more of a fight for the division than you think. Tigers are still favorites in my opinion.

  • @LudaChez Leaving the city politics out of it, that V-Mart injury is pretty bad, but the free agent options for DH are an okay splint for now and they've got the money to spend. That being said, they'll go harder for Cespedes because the outfield was weak to begin with and this is impetus. My guess? White Sox aren't competitive, Indians are okay, Twins are okay, Royals will be surprisingly good. Or I could be completely wrong, but the Tigers are still number one.

  • Commentating just sounds better in Spanish.

  • Damn he's gonna be raw

  • Nice shot.. Can't wait for him to stare one down like that in MLB and watch him get one in the ear his next AB..Know your place rook

  • Pitcher was throwin' gas too...

Jesus, mari y Jose.
