This performance is amazing. One could only hope to accomplish on the instrument what she does here. This is absolutely transcendent. The animal/bird calls starting around 6:13 == untouchable, purpose of instrument type stuff. Truly, truly great work here.
Cool. I have a question. Is the player blowing air out in the first piece? Is she using circular breathing? I use to do this on my dan moi, but I have to bend the blade inside a little bit, and dan mois are very breakable. What kind of khomus is this? Is it possible to use the circular breathing on it without bending the blade inside? Thank you very much for sharing this video. :-)
Devise on the first piece is electric khomus (jew's harp). After you plucked the reed of such khomus, it remains vibration leaves the right hand free. I believe the breathing isn't circular, just inhalation and exhalation.
Wonderful. I play marranzano since I was a child, and started to discover other kind of jew's harp many years ago, but never heard of this. Can you please tell me more about, or link me some page where I could find some more about this electric khomus?
What is the first one she plays called?

По-моему якутские девчонки играют круче, чем ихние "корифеи", хотя может вопрос вкуса. Но конкретно эта жжет, Шишигин отдыхает.

Thank you for answering. But... Electric khomus? Is it a khomus amplified with a pickup?
furrytummy 2 years ago
No. In this case, electromagnetic impulses cause reed vibrations.
