@runawayflyaway Not quite... Tuomas was in love with Tarja, but she never reciprocated. That's why you have songs like Come Cover Me and She is my Sin. Basically, the untold story of the band's breakup comes down to this. He loved her; she didn't, and when she married that other dude, Tuomas could take it anymore. He basically created a band for her, wrote music that showcased her voice and gave her a career, but never got laid for it. That's what brought the breakup of the band.
@Wamphyrison ... He then decided that he had been in the background enough and decided to bring his music to the forefront by making sure that the next singer wouldn't be bigger than his music. He knew that, by choosing Annette, he basically had to let go of the first three albums in live shows. Whether you prefer Annette or Tarja doesn't change the fact that she's technically inferior to Tarja and she can't sing any of those songs well...
... So he chose to let go of the first 3 albums and focus on writing bigger bombastic songs that wouldn't come second to the lead singer anymore. I really like the songs on Dark Passion Play but I don't really care for the vocals. So I guess he found a good musical balance to reclaim his band.By the way, the first song I ever heard (and the one who made me love this band) was Stargazer off Oceanborn. I have all the albums and saw them live 3 times. I AM a fan... just not as much as before.

It was established somewhere in that reading the Tuomas was in love with Tarja, but Tarja was in it for the music..

Now, I'm not saying that she's totally innocent... It usually takes 2 to tango. But also look at the way things went down: Tuomas fired her in an OPEN Letter!! That is an overly emotional way of dealing with internal strife...It's like your boss buying the 1st page on a national paper to fire you...

@tomiclav This was in Finland, in the Tampere city and in the "bar" called Pakkahuone and the date was 29.12.2000. The dvd is called "From Wishes To Eternity" and it was published in 2001.By the way..I live in Tampere...moved in 2003. :D
these were perhaps the best times of Tarja. when her voice was fine tuned almost perfectly and Nightwish was still playing very well, with emotions leading the way, not money. this song, and others of its era, remind me of Nightwish's good old days, and listening to these songs live today in 2010 brings back some very pleasant memories but also brings a lot of sadness of what was but probably won't be again.

The way Tarja have ended this song is highly orgasmic. Song like this simply shows how awesome Tarja is in live. I think Tuomas and Emppu is great too. But this particular song, with this particular live show, Tarja seems to show her excellence. The way she is able to capture the minds of entire audience with that melodies that she sings while rest of members just stop is incredibly amazing and magnificently beautiful.

The way Tarja have ended this song is highly orgasmic. Song like this simply shows how awesome Tarja is in live. I think Tuomas and Emppu is great too. But this particular song, with this particular live show, Tarja seems to show her excellence. The way she is able to capture the minds of entire audience with that melodies that she sings while rest of members just stop is incredibly amazing and magnificently beautiful.
