I'm big on Tool aswell but they aren't the only creative band out there are many bands that do complex and creative oriented music and touch other genres Tool may not. And just because your love for Tool may allow you to laugh in the favortism of one band compared to others dosen't take away from the unique music made by others you may not understand. Tool is unique and distinctive but there are others aswell that stand out both old and new. Look for more avant-grade rock/metal acts to see.

I would rather avoid any hostility by others that would take my comment the wrong way but Just look at others sastyles of music more so somewhere in the rock genre and look to see what people have brought different sounds and styles that have enhanced music.

Comparing is fine but every sound and style has limitation thats what gives it classification. Though like Tool some are more open to experiment and add more to their basis. I try not to put a great deal of burden of only comparing select individuals with one another. I compare more based from what each individual brings that otherwise wasn't present before. It's not always a competition but a realization that some people are unique and music has developed further from that individual.

The voice alterator he uses is similar to a megaphone. Execpt it doesn't really make your voice much louder, it just alters the sound into that electronic sounding voice. He makes the melody at the beggining by sining into the megaphone thing and turning it on and off to get that sound. Sounds like he is also putting it through a delay effect or something. It's cool shit.
