are you devoid of musical ear and melodic interpretation? ,evidently sir you are.'' man you have realy taken a wrecking ball to this great work. the ethereal theme of this work is meant to envoke tranquility, and the understanding of the mystical presance of the unseen elemental beings. if there were any fairies present at the playing of this melody in this manner, it would send them fleeing in terror back to the realm in between light and darkness. please hang this one up ,and out to dry
This is what it sounded like when someone in the pub would buy Turlough O'Carolan a pint and drop a mickey in it. He would usually play like this for awhile, then get up, stumble, knock everything over on his way to the front door to puke. It was usually a really good laugh though....lol
@SatanRulezGod In one of my books it is translated as "The little hill and the big hill" -the site of a battle between rival factions, but I believe there are other translations.
Definitely your own version! Never heard Carolan played that way before, but I love it! I think you have a great relaxed style. I play a very traditional version on nylon strings arranged by John Loesberg. I am envious of your talent.
An interesting and somewhat surreal interpretation of Si Bheag Si Mhor, but still intoxicating. I also like the minor key feel as the mood it conjures is so brooding
A interesting counterpoint to keefchap's version A sweet and sour of tastes if you like
I am pretty sure that O'Carolan would not have harmonised like this. Fantastic musical imagination and feel here... and no small amount of discipline too!
Thank you Pascal, I think Fahey is such a major influence on my musical being I couldnt bury it even if I wanted to. -btw, been enjoying your vids - great Bensusan stuff.
A brillianty strange "minor key feel" re-imagining of a beautiful melody. As far as I know, O'Carolan only left us with the melodies for his music so it is up to us to harmonise / arrange as we see fit. You certainly went outside the box with this one.
Ha!!!!!!, This is your fault keefchap, you set the bar too high with your outstanding version, I had nowhere go with it except to take it to the "strange" side. Thanks for the comments and your wonderful rendition.
Must admit it did throw me off at first but the more I litsten to it the more I appreciate those harmonies. Kudos, this is a very accomplished arrangement.
Thanks George, actually "destructed' isn't to far off, de-constructed then re-constructed is basically what I did - I should of called it the "Cubist" version. jh
Great rendition, took me by surprise. Happy holidays and thanks for sharing this unique and brilliant interpretation.

Sorry, mister, but I cannot like this destruction of a beautiful tune - whether from O'Carolan or not.
It sounds like the guitar is completely out of tune ..
