@kimpeaceable -- not really sure if Albinoni meant this to be for weddings, maybe just the opposite. Like for funerals. It is a wonderful piece and karajan does a great job for our time.

Karajan was the only conductor smart and sensitive enough, that he felt correctly this has to be played slowly... Just hearing how other idiots fucked this giazootto`s gift of heaven up by playing it fast makes me angry.

It appears to have been around far longer than most of even todays popular music., even Jazz which is also another of my favorite music.

Not that I don't like Karajan, it is just that, you can't easily say which one was better than the other one. They were both great. Sometimes Karajan, sometimes Bernstein.
I adore Bernstein's performance of Mozart Great Symphony in G minor with the Winner Philharmoniker, for instance.
It is the matter of interpretation of a piece, from notes, to sounds.
Does wonders for the inner soul.
