@fredlwm if you have windows vista you can overclock from within windows by changing the power options to high and changing them a little then it seems like you have overclocked it but only changed the frequency to 100% but if it is a laptop it may get hot which mine does get hot so i change the high performance power options a little to cool it down and get the same performance

I'm trying to use this AMD OverDrive on my Phenom II X4 555 BE that was unlocked. When I go under the "Clock/Voltage" tab, I can't slide the CPU Core Multipliers for any of the cores; it's stuck at the max of 16x (by max, i mean that the slider is all the way to the far right). Go to the 4th tag, "Preference", Check the box for "Advanced Mode" and click "Apply"

I would suggest starting with adjusting just the multiplier on your 720 BE as it is unlocked. Each time you adjust run the stress test for an hour or more and make sure the temp stays below 50c. At around 55c the phenom II have stability problems.

i just purchased the scythe mugen2 cpu cooler, and my cpu is at about 27c clocked at 3.2ghz but for some reason i cant go past that it seems unstable when im playing CSS, cod 4 or codwaw. the game crashes then i get all these purple lines flashing here and there, why is that?

Sounds like you need some more voltage to keep it stable. Try upping the cpu voltage .01 volts at a time till you can run the stress without problems. This will up the temp a bit, but you should be fine with the after market heat sink.

first at all ,make get the last bios of you motherboard.

2.. turn off the COO N QUIET

3.. You must to have your temp low ( 30 or 40) on full load

When i got 55 on full-load my pc shutdown.

4 Put your bus speed on 240,14X multi,-volts at minimum on +100wn of processor (you can try with +50wn too.And if still shtdown try 150+wn.

5-if you have memorys with 1066 put then to 800mhz ,to make sure if is not your memory.who is causing thr trouble.

sometimes this happens...if you look carefull you will see on 3d mark and with CPU-Z when you get full -load with high overclock the volts drops. so if you need 1.5 volts to get 3.36 on 5600+ and the volts drop dow to 1.48 probablely your sistem will stop to work.

But is no need any overclock to this happen.

I have the last version of OVERDRIVE and i dont have any more about this trouble.

Amd Overdrive isn't that great for overclocking, at least thats what people say, I OC'd my Phenom II X4 940 from bios, I have it at 3.7GHZ Prime stable 12hrs+, I've also gotten it at 3.8GHZ Prime stable 1hrs, I couldve ran it longer but my cooling wasnt good enough..

I use AMD Overdrive to OC my Phenom X4 9600 from 2.3ghz at 1.250 to 2.66ghz at 1.3V ...I click Apply Settings and then Accept..but when i reboot or turn off my pc those setting arent applied..it just get back to the stock speed ! ok .From bios ,if you have a very nice Fan ,you can put the "BUS" speed on 240 and +100wn (voltes of processor) ,If you have a G-skill 1066 put your memory on 800mhz. or if you have 800mhz put then to 667mhz.

If something gets wrong you will be sure is not your memory.But you can test with 1066mhz too.Maybe works too.

Now turn of your Cool´n´quiet from bios.

By the way,the overdriver inst to be reboted.But some time you need more volts but you cant to put +100wn (or 1,476 volts).

It doesn't have the same specs. The i7 uses a completely different architecture, as well as handling the RAM itself instead of it going through the Northbridge chip. It also uses hyperthreading to create 8 logical cores.

You need to keep in mind that the I7 is sold out as soon as it hits the shelves all over the world. Yes, AMD is reaching and coming up with "creative ways" to measure its chips just to make it sound like it is still leading edge. Since you're an Intel fanboy, I thought you would know that clock speed isn't everything. That being said, keep in mind that a core i7 965 is 1000 dollars. Considering that a huge majority of computer users don't even need a processor with more than 2 cores... whats the point? Furthermore, AMD is reaching and catching up to Intel. those who buy the i7 1366 socket are going to be pissed when they find out that intel is coming out with another socket the 1066,which is supposed to have some special link between CPU and GPU for better gaming but lacks some of the power that the 1366 socket has. since the i7 platform supports DDR3 with triple channel, and no dual channel, it means that every time you upgrade your ram, you HAVE to buy three ram modules or run the bandwidth at just one third if you use 1,2,4or5 dims. 3and6 works
