Pretty accurate representation, please duly note that you are a semitone out during 0.36-0.39
In no way is this a criticism of your skill. Also during the "Some pray that one day" (bridge section) the alto section pause on "Christ will come a" lagging the last syllable then coming in late on "calling", creating the stuttered section during which you repeated the word. Otherwise very nice ^_^
all you have to do is let every1 whos performing to learn only theres all by themself, and fous on singing what they should sing. i got an 8 yr old to learn anna's harmony.
thanks for this. i cant find the sheet music for the vocal arrangements for this song, so this helped. its difficult, but we have a pretty skilled group, spo i think we can handle it.
I agree that it's lovely for an alto to get such a diverse vocal opportunity with the role of Martha - it's just the harmonies in this number in particular that scare me a tad, hehe!
If you try hard, and work at it, it's possible to get. I do say it is high, but what works for me is when warming up, try getting higher out of your range, not to the point where your voice really hurts, but try to get as high as you can. Hope this helps. :)
im not sure how, but there is definitely a way to mesh songs together. so if you can take it apart, then you can definitely put it back your own way... sorry im not much help.
I think because the soprano baseline is so strong and clear, you expect that the supporting lower harmonies will be as straightforward - but they are tricky stuff!
Mabye i'm just a pathetic alto, but for lower harmonies, some of these are dam tricky, and dam hig (for me). Thanks so much for doing this, but i feel so very disheartened right now, hehe
She sings the melody with Wendla until "Don't know how to go," after which she sings the counterpoint "Mama who bore me / Mama who gave me / Mama, the angels / Mama," etc. Her ending notes, starting at "No sleep in heaven," are C C C C G Fsharp, D B A A Gsharp.
Ilse has the melody throughout the first part of the song. She's also the one who sings the last part of the song the same way the beginning is sung, as a solo... if that makes any sense the way it's worded, lol.
The second harmony (Martha's) is off on the first "so sad," "no sleep in heaven," and "li-iight, hope that it glows," and "when he comes, they don't know how to go-o-o-o..." She should take the lower harmony on the "li-iight" section, and stay on the E for the go-o-o-oo, if that makes any sense. I'm looking at the music right now.
This is just awesome! I've just discovered Spring Awakening (I live in Holland, and they're a little behind over here when it comes to great musicals ;) ), and this song has been stuck in my head ever since the first time I heard it... Now I can learn all the different parts! :) Thanks for posting! :)

Wendla belts the E, Ilse mixes the top part :)

I think it depends on who's playing Wendla what their strategy is . . . Lea and Alexandra belted it, but I don't think Christy or Charlotte did.

QueenMab85 3 years ago
ilse has the melody with wendla all the way through "they don't know how to go". She holds the B.
Then she goes into her little solo line that's plain and clear on the recording.
Her last "no sleep in Hea-ve-en or Be-eth-le-hem" is C-C-C-C-G-Fsharp-G-B-A-A-Gsharp.
Hope that helped a bit. :D
haydonobob 3 years ago
Ilse's part is the same as Wendla's for the most part.
carly3592 3 years ago
Ilse has the melody throughout the first part of the song. She's also the one who sings the last part of the song the same way the beginning is sung, as a solo... if that makes any sense the way it's worded, lol.

The second harmony (Martha's) is off on the first "so sad," "no sleep in heaven," and "li-iight, hope that it glows," and "when he comes, they don't know how to go-o-o-o..." She should take the lower harmony on the "li-iight" section, and stay on the E for the go-o-o-oo, if that makes any sense. I'm looking at the music right now.

The Ilse part in the end, then, is No Sleep In Heaven or Bethlehem.
And the notes are "C-C-C-C-G-F# ... G-B-A-A-G#"
With the G-F# being the notes on -en and B-A being the notes on Beth-
