  • THANK YOU!

  • thank you SO MUCH ! it was impossible for me to find harmonies by ear ! haha. To difficult so Thank you thank you thank you !

  • This. Is. The Best. Video. Ever!!!! lol. Needless to say, I am SO HAPPY you posted this-- this will save me a big headache!!

  • Martha is the third ending harmony?

  • The alto in my head actually prefers Anna's harmony, oddly enough!

  • i love, love Martha's harmony.

    It's beautiful.

    <33.

    Yay altos!!!

  • Can someone pm me the sheet music? I'd love to do this as a group with my Musical Theatre class in school. <3

  • Pretty accurate representation, please duly note that you are a semitone out during 0.36-0.39

In no way is this a criticism of your skill. Also during the "Some pray that one day" (bridge section) the alto section pause on "Christ will come a" lagging the last syllable then coming in late on "calling", creating the stuttered section during which you repeated the word. Otherwise very nice ^_^

  • great idea! thanks!

  • This was fucking awesome.

  • this is so helpful thank you so so much!! i think anna's part is my favorite :)

  • Where did you get the instrumental track? I wish they'd make a Spring Awakening instrumental CD. Wait... have they?

  • Do most of you, if you do Wendla's part, do it in your chest voice or your head voice?

  • great voice.

  • all you have to do is let every1 whos performing to learn only theres all by themself, and fous on singing what they should sing. i got an 8 yr old to learn anna's harmony.

  • Thea's part is so hard for me to sing, haha.I can't get used to all the ups and downs! Anna's is the best!

  • thanks for this. i cant find the sheet music for the vocal arrangements for this song, so this helped. its difficult, but we have a pretty skilled group, spo i think we can handle it.

  • this was so helpful! thank you!

  • I agree that it's lovely for an alto to get such a diverse vocal opportunity with the role of Martha - it's just the harmonies in this number in particular that scare me a tad, hehe!

  • wendla's part.... is it head voice or belt because there are some pretty hard notes in their...

    :D

    xoxo G

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS.

    this is amazingly helpful.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! This is so immensely helpful and you sing it beautifully!

  • does anyone have the sheet music for this?

  • mmm.... its a little off some time's and i think it to much at sometimes..

  • it'd be neat if we could hear the original track from the CD ripped and hear the OBC girls sing their respective harmonies.

I think Anna's harmony is my favorite, though. :)

  • idk why thea's is so hard!!!!

  • thank you so much

  • this is awesome i cant sing wendlas part so i try to sing harmony but i cant figure them out

  • Could someone send me a copy of the sheet music to this, ASAP?

  • the melody line is actually kinda hard to sing with this...wow...

  • does anyone know if you're supposed to belt the top part? like a full belt? or do most wendlas use their head voice? or mix? i can never tell

...because i can't belt that high!

  • no head voice. ever.

    very bad.

    belt.

just practice and you'll get it hun.

  • i think belting that would sound really forced. i think it's head voice.

  • mix. Or, harshen up your head voice

  • they are belting lols!

    thats why its so hard!

i can do it in head voice but i cant belt it lols

    x

  • Wendla belts the E, Ilse mixes the top part :)

  • I think it depends on who's playing Wendla what their strategy is . . . Lea and Alexandra belted it, but I don't think Christy or Charlotte did.

  • i use a mix and it sounds like them lols i hope :D

not as good as them obviously

    gd luck

    x

  • I'd recommend mixing it.

  • thank you so much for posting this! i just barely got the sheet music...

but before i got it, this was incredibly helpful!!

by the way...you have a beautiful voice! i would love it if you'd post some more cover videos =]

  • where did you acquire the sheet music? ive been looking for it for quite some time

  • I love the Anna harmony. Anna is awesome~

  • does anyone else think the first "alto" harmony has ridiculously high parts for an alto?

  • High, but not too out of the ordinary for an alto part.

  • If you try hard, and work at it, it's possible to get. I do say it is high, but what works for me is when warming up, try getting higher out of your range, not to the point where your voice really hurts, but try to get as high as you can. Hope this helps. :)

  • oh my god, i love your screen name!!! ( melchie gabour! hes such a radical!)

  • its helped me a lot!

i can belt the top harmony wendlas part!!!!

thnx so much for the great advice!

im gonna put up a vid soon :D

    x

  • Yeah, not too unusual though. Its nice though, a good deal of time alto's are stuck singing in man range. lol

  • Haha I just listened to this and thought I'd try it. Thanks for this.

  • when does thea's part start!!

  • 2:33

  • Is there anyway you can make one with the last part(all haronies minus Ilse and Wendla) and have it to download?

  • im not sure how, but there is definitely a way to mesh songs together. so if you can take it apart, then you can definitely put it back your own way... sorry im not much help.

  • wow this sounds super difficult. glad im a soprano :D

  • Thank you soooooo much for posting this!

It's incredibly hard to figure out these harmonies with no music and just by ear.

    You're awesome!

  • i have the score. this is mostly correct but there are several mistakes.

  • jmh7940 - would there be anyway you could send it to me? I would be so happy if you could!! But I understand if you can't. :) x

  • thankyou sooo much for this it really helped! =D x

  • do you have the sheet music for this?! do you think you could please send it to me. that would be wonderful

thank you so much for this video btw :]

  • thank you for this! very helpful

  • rekon the second harmoney is the hardest?

    i do

  • completely!! the first though is really easy

  • were singing it atm

it's hard but it sounds amazing.

  • Thank you so much! I'm going to sing this with three other girls, so I'm happy to have this!

    X

  • I think because the soprano baseline is so strong and clear, you expect that the supporting lower harmonies will be as straightforward - but they are tricky stuff!

  • great

  • That was really good! The harmonies are so difficult for this song and this really helped. x

  • 1:15-just puttin this here for personal reference.

  • HUGE HELP! THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!

  • how did you get this?!

did you just listen and figure?

  • 3:12 is where they start singing together right?

  • 3:15

  • um i love you. i can usually hear harmonies really easily but this song messed me up big time!

  • Mabye i'm just a pathetic alto, but for lower harmonies, some of these are dam tricky, and dam hig (for me). Thanks so much for doing this, but i feel so very disheartened right now, hehe

  • Yeah the 'low' harmonies are pretty high lol!

  • Me too.. I'm alto.. But some of the melodies I've learnt are too high for me too.. :(

  • Very Good!

  • THank YOU!!!!!!

  • How helpful!

    Thank you for uploading this!

  • Oh wow! I love this! Thank you so much!

  • this is great! it's a big help

  • this is SUCH a great help! thanks soooo much!!! good job!

  • any sheet music for this?

  • thanks a billion!

    but sheet music?? pretty please?

  • this is awesome, thank you.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! The score doesn't include the reprise, so I will definitely use this!

  • my life is now complete :]

    thanks guys

  • can you maybe post up another video with ilse's and wendla's harmonies included so it's a full set?

your contribution to the learning of this song is much appreciated :P

    :D thanks.

  • beautiful voice! Thanks so much for posting this!

  • Where did you find the sheet music for this?

  • this is amazing..thank you!

  • Alto 2, Alto 1, Soprano 2

  • thanks so much

  • love it!

  • do u know the harmony for ilse?

  • She sings the melody with Wendla until "Don't know how to go," after which she sings the counterpoint "Mama who bore me / Mama who gave me / Mama, the angels / Mama," etc. Her ending notes, starting at "No sleep in heaven," are C C C C G Fsharp, D B A A Gsharp.

  • ilse has the melody with wendla all the way through "they don't know how to go". She holds the B.

Then she goes into her little solo line that's plain and clear on the recording.

Her last "no sleep in Hea-ve-en or Be-eth-le-hem" is C-C-C-C-G-Fsharp-G-B-A-A-Gsharp.

Hope that helped a bit. :D

  • Ilse's part is the same as Wendla's for the most part.

  • Ilse has the melody throughout the first part of the song. She's also the one who sings the last part of the song the same way the beginning is sung, as a solo... if that makes any sense the way it's worded, lol.

  • this is REALLY good work. ^^ keep it up!

    ~Jenny Mac

  • this is fantastic! thanks so much, its great to learn the harmonies and to just sing the top part over!

  • you have to take care if you want to learn marthas part from here...there a some wrong tunes!

    greetings!

  • any way i could download an mp3 or get some sheet music for this? its great!

  • THANK YOU!

  • i put it with the song.

    its EXACTLY right on.

    :]

    amazing job.

  • are you absolutly SURE this is right? im counting on it! how did you find it?

  • The second harmony (Martha's) is off on the first "so sad," "no sleep in heaven," and "li-iight, hope that it glows," and "when he comes, they don't know how to go-o-o-o..." She should take the lower harmony on the "li-iight" section, and stay on the E for the go-o-o-oo, if that makes any sense. I'm looking at the music right now.

  • do you think you could email me the music, or tell me where you got it from? that would be great!

  • you have the sheet music for the reprise?

  • THANK YOU.

  • Jeepers, i would never have expected Martha's hamrony to go as high as it does (IMO) - being an alto, this makes me sad.

Nonetheless, the harmonies are still beautiful and thankyou so much for doing this

  • OMG Thatnks soo Much! :)

  • I think it's in G major

  • This is just awesome! I've just discovered Spring Awakening (I live in Holland, and they're a little behind over here when it comes to great musicals ;) ), and this song has been stuck in my head ever since the first time I heard it... Now I can learn all the different parts! :) Thanks for posting! :)

    hugs,

    Astrid

  • ohmygosh, THANKYOU! I seriously needed this, thanks so much! :D

  • The second harmony is a little wrong. Just saying. You can fix it a bit.

  • is it really phoebe, lilli and remy's voices on this?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!

  • No, if you look at the discription, it will say that this is from the Youtube Cast of Spring Awakening.

  • Thank so much. It always bugs me when I listen cast recordings and ony sing the easy part. Now I always sing Anna's. You have a great voice and an amazing ear. Is the sheet music for all parts available?

  • wow. props to the girls

    weeding out that harmoy

    wooosh. couldnt imagine

  • I know! I couldn't imagine trying to sing my notes without being distracted by the other people singing!

  • do u have sheet music for these by any chance?

  • there's only 3 parts i have the score =x lol and you're amazing btw

  • ah ok I see.

so the first part is alto, the second parts are mezzo, but they just split sometimes?

  • There are three lower parts and one higher melody shared by Ilse and Wendla. There's no reason to post that because, well, it's the melody.

  • isn't there 4 parts, or only 3?

  • Just wondering how you got all this? did you just figure it out? if so, that's impressive:)

  • The Ilse part in the end, then, is No Sleep In Heaven or Bethlehem.

    And the notes are "C-C-C-C-G-F# ... G-B-A-A-G#"

With the G-F# being the notes on -en and B-A being the notes on Beth-

  • Wendla and Ilse have the same part. I think. It says that in the video description.

  • Thank you so much for this!!! This is soooooo helpful =]

  • actually, lol, I had all the harmonies wrong. thanks for posting this video!

  • wow, I could never figure out anna's harmony. thank you so much!

  • i know EXACTLY where you got these...awesome!!

  • Whoo! Great job!

  • This is amazing! Is there any way I could download the audiio files here as mp3s?

  • Ahhh I love it with just the lower harmonies, sounds so cool. Brittany, Katie, we rock :P

  • HAHAHAH, i know EXACTLY where you found this...cool, cool!!

  • omg. i have been trying to find it! thank you so muchhh!

  • a bunch of my friends are going to perform this, thank you! its so helpful!

  • THANKKK YOU

  • Wow this is great

Now I can use this 2 practice the harmonies

    Thanks so much!

  • niiiice
