  • What happened at 3.50 and 3.55?

  • Nice AWS sounds in that cab, much better than the ones in Trainz 12.

  • where'd the little venus fly trap thingy go?

  • Is it true that EMT are putting VP185's in all their HSTs?

  • @MrFlavioValentino VP'185

  • is it an east midland mainline HST?

  • a rare opportunity..so envious!!

  • Where from and where to??

  • Paxman Valenta Power!

  • It's amazingly quiet considering you're sat in front of a bloody great MTU...

  • @mcgherkinstudios It's a VP185, not an MTU

  • D: I wanna go for a ride >:(

  • looks like a submarine or something cockpit ^^

  • awesome vid m8

  • @vulgarmachine2 I'm from sheffield and regularly visit Sheffield station, I rarely see a HST 125 in Sheffield, in fact I think I've seen one... Its usually the 222 merdians. I don't mind seeing either as I like both

  • @The22clowns In my country to learn drive a train need 3 years at least(In mean time you can still be second driver in freighters), in Britain: actually I don't know.

  • How do they allow you in the cab or do you work on this train?

  • swear these never go up to sheffield no more!

  • @SteamMad they dont, only the class 222's do

  • @SteamMad No they don,t I noticed that, its a shame, its just those crappy six units that go to Chesterfield and sheffield, the HSTs only go to Nottingham.

  • @SteamMad

I'm gonna disagree with the others and say yes, HSTs do work through Sheffield. Generally on St Pancras - Neville Hill workings. So you're talking late night on weekdays and on sundays. I can say this with certainty cos I've been on this HST service so many times. I do find it odd that East Mids put them onto a slow working though. They somehow work a direct service to Leeds into an arduous 3 hour journey...

  • ahh but you see my dads a Driver Instructor for XC so don't throw that at me the fact is you shouldn't go up the front full stop.

  • @DaveHst43 Why not? Is this another example of H&S gone mad?

  • This message only applies if the person shooting this video is unotharised to do so.

I understand the desire to ride in the cab for an enthusiast, HOWEVER you have to realise that you are risking the driver's job if you get caught. have you realised that you may possibly not get a drivers job yourself! Silly mistakes can cost you big time!

  • Is that a supermarket receipt stuck to the dash?

  • Best trains ever.

  • Wow. Looks like a really difficult and demanding job, driving a train.

  • @jonewer I like the sarcasm. But it is a demanding job. Making sure there are no obstructions on the line, keeping to speed and time and plentey of other hazards.

  • @jonewer Let's see you do it then.

  • what was the AWS he cancelled at 3.56??

  • @blackpig24601

Given that he had clear sections it was probably a TSR magnet in the four foot, I think that's why the driver put the controller to notch 1 prior to the AWS sounding or that by the look of the speedo he was doing line speed for that section.

  • i so want to drive one of these

  • WOOOOO! Valenta you lucky bastard

  • @HitchinTrains sounds more like a VP185 to me, no instant scream when it starts

  • @pendolinokriscfc HURR I OBSESS OVER ENGINES DURR

  • @Yownanymous

Sorry, Can you re-write this in English?

  • wonderful video !

  • Very good :D

  • how did you get to ride up front of an HST? i love it

  • Oh... no more vigilance bell, now its just a chime.

  • Vigilance was never a bell, it has always been a chime, you must be thinking of the AWS

  • My bad, i'm was referring to the automatic warning system. Thanks for the correction, I always used to get them mixed up. I haven't been in a 43 cab since the 80's

  • Great video, How did you get this?

  • Very nice piece of film work. Thanks for posting. This looks suspiciously like the route from London to Nottingham. Cloud cover is heavy which would be typical of a late morning run aloung this route. It is also clear from the foliage that the Autumn colours are arriving so I am guessing it was taken recently. Finally, the rate of acceleration of the train suggests a relatively light load, implying this is a Saturday service. Please confirm if you can. All in all, very enjoyable!
