I remembered the song and commercial, but had no idea that it was a Kodak commercial. A friend recently showed me that youtube had it. I never thought that I would ever see or hear it again. It is wonderful to see it and be reminded of a simpler, more loving time. I hope to be able to pass this on.
I remember this song when I was little, I gave it to my daughter when she was born in 92, she is now 19 and going out the door, I still cry like a baby, when I hear it like I did when I sang it to her for the first time 19 years ago.
This is on at least two Kingston Trio albums - Time to Think (as mentioned), and Two Classic Albums (from Collector's Choic Music) which includes Time to Think and New Frontier. I have the collection.
This is the most beautiful, appropriate song for my kids, who were taken from me in a divorce. They are the one thing I think about on an hourly basis. I see them often, but it's not the same as being a full time Dad. Thank you for posting this. My heart is heavy, and I wish they were with me every minute. To those of you who take this for granted, try losing your kids for a week or two at a time. I'd rather go through hell.
@bnutzman My heart goes out to you. I had shared parenting after my divorce, yet they were kidnapped by the ex. I didn't see them for twelve years. State of Ohio will not enforce their orders or the law. The Law of Love prevails in my life.
Yes, physchar, it is beloved Haystack. The glorious Oregon coast. That was back in the days when you could climb on Haystack and snag starfish. Ah, memories. C.
So glad you like it, I think it must be a favorite of dads and moms, everywhere, to sing to their kids. If they don't, they should. It is heartbreakingly true. Thanks.
Dear Claudia your video is excellent, and very moving, I love this song very much to, im adding this to my favs, thank you so much for sharing this with me, You have wonderful children,
Aha! You must have the 1963 "Time To Think" LP also, Claudia. Believe it or not, I have every single K-3 song ever released, and some not, while growing up in Coronado and being Nicky's cousin. But it's nice to see any Kingston Trio song uploaded by one and all. This is has always been one of my favorites. And you have some great progeny. (You've even somewhat inspired me to upload "London Bridge" and "The Thumb Song by Diane, age 5, which she learned in kindergarten in the near future.) John

Only when your children leave home is the full impact of this song realized.
You not only feel their importance in your life, but you understand what your
parents felt. Enjoy your children to the max. 18 years pass in a heartbeat.
