  • nice plane but the A320neo is selling much better... :)

  • Plane looks great, but, have to say, A320neo wins on this one.

  • Nice plane. Boeing really screwed Pratt & Whitney on this program. They would probably have more orders if they offer the PW1000g as another engine option.

  • Cute plane! It's gonna OWN the A320neo!

  • Boring plane... gonna be abused by low cost carriers

  • @L4ptopgirl Get your facts straight!

  • Engines are nice... :) so what if its an old design, its ugraded, the NG is an entire new airplane underneath, its easy to learn if uve flown the classics. it looks cool and the formula has worked soo far, keep things simple, if it aint broke don fix it and thats hats exactly boeing's being doing..

  • its like the 737 800. oh god

  • Is this like Pepsi Max?

  • @artistgmg Yep, no sugary foods are allowed on board

  • @artistgmg that was so unrelated

  • @popomko MAX pain? are you sure? this is going to be Boeings latest 737 with all the technology and advanced cockpit. and comparing this plane to the a320 is just stupid.

  • @concorde232 Your comment shows you to be looking through rose tinted glasses, not the facts. The 737 airframe is derived from the 707, a 1950s design & 737 pilots constantly complain about the crude, cramped cabin. Passengers complain at how narrow the cabin is, more specifically the last 4-5 rows. If you seriously think this aged design comes close to the A320 (itself a 25yr old design) you're deluded. The Max will finally use partial fly by wire on the spoilers. A320 was fully FBW from outset

  • Boeing focuses on Airline customers... not on passengers, again! The B737 has narrower seats -nearly by an inch- than the Airbus A320. I hate flying on that plane : MAX pain!

  • 737 with blended winglets is my favorite jet!!

  • Boeing are you going to Still have the amazing 737 engine sound the southwest makes love that but i think the new Engine's will not produce that super awesome noise .

  • Airbus employees with their French goverment paychecks dislike this video!

  • Wow, how successful has the 737 been over the years!? I'm excited to see these continue on. Also, I'm glad they didn't mess with the body-style either. I hate when everything has to change in looks to keep up with times. If it ain't broke....don't fix it!

  • Boeing is just fantastic, they build planes that last like the B-52, 737, 747. I bet when i die there will be another version of the 737, 777, and the 747 up there.

  • Will there be visual screens in the headrests to game, movies or navigation watching?

  • @fivepoints Thats up to the airlines to choose the seats and entertainment systems.

  • A320NEO is better... boeing is getting boring

... they have no ideas left...

  • @chickenfire100 You are wrong because you don't know. Read up and compare the data. I have flown A320/319 and 737-800/700. Boeing is ages ahead!! Airbus is eager to tell you how advanced they are but in reality Boeing designs even from 30 years ago are way ahead. Just facts, sorry.

  • @Outsourcingfighter I am a huge fan of boeing I would love to have a license to fly one of these jets in real life but I don't and could never afford it so I am restricted to PMDG's 737 but even in that is a beautiful aircraft. I have to support airbus aswell because the A380's RR engine plant is just around the corner from my home and some my friends and family have worked there in the past. I am really looking forward to seeing this new jet.

  • @Outsourcingfighter LOL and you call yourself a pilot? Well... yeah, maybe a pilot, but never an engineer. Hahahahaha funny statement you just made, kinda desperate though

  • @Outsourcingfighter How can you say the 737 is more advanced. Here are some facts about the 737NG. Doors require more maintenance than any airbus. Fully balanced flying controls due to cables being used for controls and not fully powered flying controls. No accurate method for download of maintenance data due to systems not being connected fully. The NG is still basically a 30 year old design that has bolted a 757 wing to a 737 body.

  • Southwest Airlines has placed the first order for 150 Boeing 737 Max Airplanes!

  • This will be a sales success.

  • Boeing is the best!!!

  • When are we going to know the customers? I'm really curious to see who placed the initial orders

  • Thumps up, I like the 757 style APU exhaust. Boeing should replace the yokes in the flight deck and install F-15 or F/A-18 joysticks for flight control... that would be awesome.

  • Great Plane, I'll choose B737 MAX rather than A320 NEO.

After B737-900ER, Lion Air become first buyer for this A/C (again)

and for Garuda Indonesia, you should buy this A/C too

  • Wow! Congrats Boeing on the Lion Air deal. Lion Air is going to get a profitable airliner that has deep roots in aviation history updated to 21st century standards, in fact it seems to raise the bar to a new level.

  • Lion Air FTW!

  • that makes sense. all airplanes should adopt the new 787 technologies

  • Great and it will be 7% less than neo.

  • @RainfulPhenix That's what Boeing is doing.

  • We must focus on an alternative fuel airplane for the next generation.

  • @cgrasser7075861624

    Boeing is already using Bio-Fuel

  • Am I the only one complaining here? I think "MAX" is a stupid name. I mean I get why the new 737 is called that, but come on! Max is a dog's name for crying out loud! Sorry Boeing, I love you, but change the name to 737-X or something like that.

    -SL

  • @The777gurl Because the studys show that the MAX will have lower consumption's than the NEO.

  • @wowdude999 Larger turbofans on the neo means higher bypass ratio = greater fuel efficiency, superior thrust and less noise. 737MAXs airframe restricts fan size to 68". Neo will have 78" CFM or 81" P&W. Boeing should have designed a totally new craft, not re-use a 1960s frame as a base. It'll be a success if only because of commonality but the A320neo is a better option.

  • @Dartagnyn

There is a tradeoff between increased fuel economy from increasing the bypass ratio, and increased cross sectional area and engine weight. A lighter, slightly smaller engine can have better fuel burn on shorter segments.

  • @The777gurl max efficiency, max reliability, max passenger appeal do you get it now? do i need to draw you a picture? lol everyone but you can get it.

  • I stil can't believe that the 737 isthe best-selling airliner.

  • @namboiling

    From Wikipedia:

The 737 series is the best-selling jet airliner in the history of aviation. The 737 has been continuously manufactured by Boeing since 1967 with 6,919 aircraft delivered and 2,215 orders yet to be fulfilled as of September 2011

  • y not use the 757 body instead of upgrading the 737 again when NG isnt released yet

  • @GaZaY0UTHchris Exactly what I was thinking. The 757 already has the landing gear height to allow large-diameter engines, and the fuselage is the same diameter. A shortened 757 make a lot more sense than trying to extend the 737 design again.

  • I got an even better solution!

    Replace the current 737's engines....

  • can i have one? you can park it in my lawn i will make it bigger.

  • I dont get y r we revamping the B737 for the 3rd Time.. A320 family is being revamped for the 2nd time. We should take this opportunity to make an all new airplane. I see a lose of competition just because there r only 2 companies inthe world in this field of aviation. Dammit Lockheed Martin come back! Where did the innovation of the USA go?.. Plus its narrow compared to A320 & some fat Americans are sitll going2B uncomfortable in the B737 another 15-20 years with the MAX Project..

  • Screw you Airbus

  • Beautiful looking plane, i love it.. i think it's possible to see 737 in service for 70 years after first flight of 737-100 in 1967!

  • @AugmentedB737

It looks exactly the same as the old 737.

  • @blablubb12345 yes but this is merely a stopgap to give them time to develop a new clean sheet single aisle successor

  • Wow even American Airlines has to use the GE/ Snecma LEAP-X on the A320NEO and the B737MAX to have engine maintenance commonality.

  • 10-12%? THAT'S HUGE!

  • How much will that cost again?

  • 1:30 I am glad she didn´t say "it will deliver MAX emmissions" !!!! For a second I thought she'd say that! LOL

  • 787 litle brother.

  • Not a big enough leap.

  • no wonder airbus is beating boeing, boeing never come out with anything new please tell me who will buy a 737 in 2017 if nobody is buying a 737 in 2011.

  • @gladifly Boeing doesnt need any new aircraft. The 737 is old but the 737 ng is still a perfect plane to fly with. And the max is just wonderful. Boeing 737 is one of the most used aircraft in the world. Dont underestimate it by how old it is, its still one of my favorites!

  • @gladifly Nobody ordering 737s in 2011? What? Over 240 orders were placed! Airbus may be pumping out more jets (I am not saying they are worse are better!) but at least they don't have a snotty attitude and hide data and are heavily subsidized by the government. Research first :) Please don't think I am attacking your post but it amazes me the stupid stuff people say about Airbus vs Boeing on here.

  • @gladifly You're an idiot, The MAX already has 500 orders...The A320 is an 80's model...They are using very similar engines....

  • @wowdude999 The A320NEO has 1029 orders and is a brand new design in as much as the MAX is. The MAX can only use the CFM LEAP-X becuase of it's smaller ground clearance which will put it at a disadvantage. Forget about the Dreamliner, the MAX is where the money is for Boeing. It will be interesting to see how well the two planes sell in the future

  • @wowdude999

By the end of september, the 737 had 384 gross orders in 2011 (310 net with cancellations). Only part of them are for the "new" 737MAX. The A320 is as much a "80's model" as the 737MAX is a "60's model".

  • Another great aircraft from Boeing. Also, is the 737 MAX longer than the 737-800 or the same length?

  • Good. Very good. I'm sure it will do just fine. Now if only they could a MAX CEO and Max management.

  • hmmm not sure i like the name but it's an awesome airplane - can't wait to fly in it!

  • Beautiful 737. Can't wait to fly it.

  • I really don't like the name MAX it sound cheap compared to something like Dreamliner or Stratocruiser. I get the reasons for naming it MAX but when I first heard this I immediately thought "MAX as in Maximum efficiency you can juice of a 43-year old design?". Anyway done ranting now. Good luck to them!

  • Boeing should have developed an all-new plane to replace the 737. They should have assigned some engineers to start working on a configuration for a new plane right when Airbus announced the A320neo. That was a year ago, and the engineers should have had plenty of time to develop a basic design configuration good enough to sell to an airline. If Boeing had done that, American Airlines would definitely had an all-Boeing order, rather than a Boeing-Airbus split.

  • Comment removed

  • will all the armchair CEO's shut up?

  • @cheesemaster is an Airbus Freakzoid of the worst kind and attacks superior Boeing aircraft. Boeing has 496 new orders from 5 airlines. Also 100 orders from Delta + new Middle-Eastern order for 40 Boeing- 737-Max. Also Fedex has orders for 40 to 60 757s and every one is waiting for the Big Enchilada Southwest Airlines could launch the new Boeing 737-MAX with 200 orders. So Boeing has 682 new orders and that just about ties them and it looks like Boeing new 737-MAX will burry Airbus forever!

  • Word is, that the new engines from CFM are too small to match the economy of the Pratt engines that the A320neo is using. Time will tell - and the order book.

  • Cool

  • Dumb America? We invented electricity, telephones, computers, cars, and airplanes. Without us, the world would still be the same as the 1700s.

  • @phillyguy95 we also invented the internet lol

  • @phillyguy95 Right on, man! You are a true American!

  • Somehow the naming reminds me of Pepsi MAX.. more benefits with same taste and also the same "MAX" naming LOL!!

  • @clarinervium lol yes

  • I believe the 737 MAX will be another legacy like the previous model!

  • YEAH! And how much will that one cost airlines to buy?

  • @AFA318 Stop, look and listen and learn Boeing aircraft out-perfrom Airbus in every department. Boeings new 737-MAX is lighter, carries more passengers with superior fuel effiency over Airbus A320neon The A320 is nothing new except its flashy paint-job and engines devloped by USA technology. A320 is small and cramped while Boeing 737-MAX is lighter with larger passenger capacity and comforts. You can alway count on Boeing for superior technology, engineering, durability and passenger safety!

  • Another crap series. Truly American ... You are only good at presentation Seeing the booking order wt airbus and it's succes fuel efficiency is the only tool to seal imaginary toys not real plain

  • 12% more fuel efficient than the current NG? How can they even make that claim considering the current NG is just 7% more efficient than the original? In 13 years they managed to shave off 7% and they expect us to believe they can shave off another 12% in just 6 years! If they can cut fuel consumption by much why didn't they do it sooner?

  • America invented manned flight, and Boeing leads the way...and to think the world calls us dumb Americans.

  • The plane has great designs and she's real beauty! I'm not sure why people are making such a big deal over the name.

  • I'm going to love 737 MAX!

  • It the same plane all they changed was the engine with a smaller 787 engine

  • I should say I'm really happy about this new airplane, The 737 does need an extra to compete with Airbus A320 NEO. But the real and extreme challenge for airplane manufacturers is to make an airplane with zero emission.

  • is the LEAP 1-B and LEAP-X the same? in terms of fuel efficiency

  • @cruxader27 The LEAP 1-B has a higher specific fuel consumption than the LEAP X because it has a smaller by-pass ratio. This is because the 737 cannot fit an engine with the diameter of the LEAP X. You can read it at thet 737 MAX Wikipedia page too.

  • 737 MAX is 737 MAX

  • Incredible! Love Boeing ♥

  • Al Qaeda is mouthwatering

  • So what about the 737-1000 is it dead now?

  • I was on Lufthansa Flight 2904 when I was 13 years old. The crash was blamed as an aircraft fault, because the plane's brakes failed. I was also on Qantas flight 72 for work, were I had to go both to Singapore, and Perth. They still do not know what caused the computer problems. If its not Boeing, I'm not going.

  • dear PMDG ...

  • she said "10% better fuel efficiency than today's next generation 737" any1 else find that statement confusing as hell?

  • Boeing needs to widen the fuse on this thing, too narrow and congested....

  • Why don't you design new single aisle segment aircraft

  • Name smacks of 80s/90s

  • looks the same as the NG

  • Market leader in every class?

  • I showed my grampy a picture of the a320 neo thing and he said wow that looks wierd!. i said the a320 family and neo family is ugly and the reengine!! its even more ugly!! WELL DONE BOEING for taking your time to build the best 3 abrest seater in the world and now an upgrade with new apu exhausts and more fuel efficent engines.. well boeing ur making the world brighter every day and saving airlines money! Saving the world is what aircraft manifacters need to be doing and Boeing is! BOEING RULES!

  • @ThePilotHarry Absolutely! The only reason scarebus is any competion for Boeing is because and only because scarebus is heavily subsidized by the Europen governments. And have you noticed every time a scarebus crashes it is always the pilots fault. Never the defective airplane they are trying to fly.

  • this was posted but is also my exact view- Another Boeing miracle! The fan is 14 inches smaller in diameter than the Leap X engine on the A320 NEO and yet it burns less fuel?? I guess that normal engine rules -eg higher bypass ratio equals lower fuel burn-don't apply to Boeing. They always burn less fuel than their competition but the competition sells more aircraft. I wonder who is fooling who?

  • @JQX1: I think it is like any other Boeing product (without pulling them down) a big marketing event. The Jumbo-jet, the Triple-seven, the Dreamliner and now the MAX. Again not to critisise Boeing for this markting strategy - with Airbus having nearly 1,000 orders for their A320NEO, and Boeing to launch this product 3 years later than Airbus - wouldn't it make more sense to invest in a Y1 (what has happened with this?) or a B797?

  • @FrisoLustig while a clean sheet a/c would be nice the major gain will come from the engines as you can do so much n no more with a tube + wings.there is simple not much improvement over 2days engine (eg GTF)to invest billions 4 a new a/c,any gain will only be marginal n boeing knows this there4 they had no choice but to re engine even though it would be difficult considering that to benefit fully from leapX or gtf you have to put on bigger engines.open rotor while better creates alot of noise

  • @yvt773 2 invest billions in a new plane to only be marginally better is a waste of money the right thing 2 do is keep your current model up 2 date until you get leap frog tech.the 737 was around much longer than the 320 and only manage to sell that much compare to the relative short time of the 320.so if the 320 sold over 7692+ from1988 compare 2 over 8800+ 737and all its variant from 1965 according 2 maths the best seller would be the 320 because it sold that much in half the time.

  • Isn't it about time Boeing stopped trying to make up for the 737's flaws and did a clean sheet design for the segment. It's already compromised by a 60s airframe and cockpit. Move on Boeing!

  • @ckyliu Yes, TOTALLY agree with you. I am going to be mad for a LONG time that Boeing didn't build a 737 replacement right now. Build it out of carbon fiber and make it just look like a miniature 787 with winglets and with CFM Leap-X engines. There, that would be a darn good new plane!

  • @Mrscoobycoco Except they already have 500 orders for the 737MAX :)

  • What a load of crap. Fancy cowlings alone is not going to give any advantage over the a320neo family. Unless Boeing has some other breakthrough tech, given recent form I doubt it. Stupid name too.

  • @mrredshifter ... Huh? The 737NG is more efficient than the A320, the A320 is being re-engined with the new generation of turbofans which will increase efficiency by 10-15%. The 737's engines will be slightly smaller and thus deliver a slightly smaller increase in efficiency, but coupled with the cowlings (which significantly reduce drag) will keep the fuel consumption ahead of the A320.

  • @blueb0g both A/C are identical and even @ best any advantage is only marginal with the NG'S VS a320.depending on the mission both will have an advantage over the other.the 737max is still unclear their is no tech spec sheet out yet so the 4% claim is @ best wishfull thinking.and i dont consider 66" fans slight smaller compare 2 the 81" gtf or 78" leapX which will burn a lot less.any significant reduction in drag from cowlings will also benefit the neo.the 737 as reach max there4 a fitting name

  • MAX LATE

  • They r still saying "It will be" when does it come out ... ???

  • Best plane ever! The legend continues!

  • yeah! it's truly the best and my favorite. this one looks like a whole new different airplane now that they changed the 737's APU exhaust and and it's signature engines and made it look like the dreamliner's.

  • why not a battery based aircraft

  • sweet!

    i con't wait!

  • neo still wins.

  • I would've liked to see a 727NG MAX .... oh well :(

  • @livingforJC True that, the 727 is awesome!!

  • The reason why Boeing made this, is because they care about the environment. :)

  • @yvt773 i'm well relax and i believe customers do care about credibility maybe not you.the fact of the matter is that airbus did raise a very good point that their is no game changing technology out 2 justify a clean sheet a/c.it took boeing a long time 2 recognize that there4 a re engine 737 instead of a new a/c.this speak more than just business as boeing was caught DREAMING while airbus was VISIONING,it will be interesting to see how 737 will get it's 4% adv over the neo as boeing claims

  • @yvt773 True, but Boeing's BS'ing on what the 737/737MAX can do in relation to the A320/A320NEO has really being one of the most remarkable cases of "are they high on something" I've seen since Leahy's A330 Chinese copy comments on the 787. I mean just a month before they got an order for this plane from AA, they said the 737NG will be 2% better than the NEO, now the MAX is 4% better than the NEO, so Boeing is telling us that they're spending $1bn to re-engine and only getting a 2% gain? Sure...

  • please change the nose design :|

  • i've always thought the 737 was a weird n ugly looking plane, but i must say that boeing made an ugly plane more appealing 2 the eyes.getting rid of the eye brow windows and adding winglets made a big difference, and now with the engines looking more round that flat @ the bottom and re design tail cone it now looks a lot better.and the the boeing house colors took it another notch up.

  • @JQX1 YOU HATE AIRPLANE EYEBROWS?! ILL SHAVE YOURES OFF FOR FUN!!!

  • @JQX1 Most 737-800/900s don't have eyebrow windows and they have winglets. What are you talking about?

  • @03Wale i know that i'm just mentioning the changes over the years not just with the max but with the ng,s as well compare to the classic

  • @03Wale no, most 737s do have the eyebrow windows. They got rid of them several years ago. So there's still a lot of 737s with the eyebrow windows, even 737NG's.

  • 737s have the mist cramped interior, notice that there was no mention about passengers! That's because it will still be the same old tin can of a jet to them!

  • @bm7500 Listen to 1:35-1:40 again.

  • @bm7500 Interior layouts are entirely up to the airlines. Nothing to do with the aeroplane. You can squeeze 600 people into a 747 if you want, and in China they do. Some airlines put more rows of seats in, you flew one of those, one day you'll fly on a 737 with more space :)

  • Sweet!787 tec!

  • Where does this fit in with the announced 737-7, 8 and 9 re-engined birds?

  • @klemay1 This is them

  • @klemay1 It's the same thing

  • @klemay1 against A320neo

  • @klemay1 This is the re-engined bid.

  • But how will the ceiling hold out under years of fatigue?

  • I love the idea of a new 737, but with MAX at the end of the name it sounds less glamorous.

  • @username5954 I agree, it's definitely better than the current 737's, but how can boeing make something better after a plane has been MAXed out? haha

  • I'm just happy that Boeing is going green.

  • Actually i was looking forward for a 737-1000 or a 797.

  • @Bravo190Charlie no 797 sounds better than a 737-1000. Why? Because it's not a 737.

  • last month this lady said the 737ng was better than the 320neo now the 737max is 4% better than the 320neo?boeing claim airbus didn't have the technology to build a new plane that's why airbus opt 4 re engine, but they had, n ruled out re engine the b737 in favor of new 1,airbus state that there wasn't a leap in tech n new replacement wouldn't be ready until around 2020 n that boeing would have to re engine.now boeing is doing everything airbus predicted, which gives airbus alot of credibility

  • @JQX1 Airbus basically pushed Boeing into a hole. All of a sudden, American Airlines decided to order new narrowbodies, boeing was like "oh crap, they're going to order A320neos, lets sell them a re-engined 737 that doesn't even exist". So they did, and american split their order between boeing and airbus, that's why Boeing built the re-engined 737 instead of making the 797.

  • Well when is it coming

  • @legoryan9 Delivery is scheduled for 2017.

  • @olfrygt2007 That sounds way off. Thats more than 5 years away!

  • Man! and i was hoping they would make a new plane! Oh well, just make it about 7 inches wider, and 787 windows. otherwise, airbus is still going to be the short-haul king, while Boeing is just going to be the king of widebodys. (Which they currently are.)

  • @Legoflightwars24 Yep, exactly!

  • Kind of lazy, the 737 will be over 50 when it's released

  • @eitlean6881 Yup, exactly!

  • is this the best you can do boeing? Airbus has already stole the show. Max isnt a good name either, cmon boeing you know this i not going to sell as well

  • @averredude101 +1000000000000000

  • No wonder Boeing is in trouble. Its full of BS sales folks as seen in this video. Please bring back the engineers who know their stuff and let them do their work. Its sad to see them always playing catch up with a now far superior company the other side of the pond.

  • Well, at first I thought noone would ever come up with a more stupid name than "Dreamliner" but Airbus showed us with the "XWB" that it was possible. But now Boeing has again taken the lead with the most inane marketing name for an aeroplane ever! Congrats to Boeings marketing department!

  • @Dominoes282 They have completed 787 type certification, they should be cranking off the line shortly.

  • Alright Boeing . if i had the money i would buy all the the planes boeing has made

  • MAX? Really? Well that's 2 strike outs in a row for whoever comes up with PR names, first Dreamliner(cheesy) and now MAX, though Intercontinental isn't that much better either, but still manageable. RE though boring would have been a much better name.

Nice to see them finally launch it after much flip-flopping and ridiculous egg on face. Remember when a re-engine was TOTALLY not on the cards and Boeing said almost all their customers wanted a new plane. Well 500 orders already say they didn't.

  • @Dominoes282 the 787-8 is finished, first delivery to be accomplished 11/26/11

  • @trainler delivery is on Sept. 26th.

  • those blended winglets have got to go. instead, install the raked wingtips like the P-8 Poseidon has
