I really like the Korean movie version, though I think the ending was a bit disappointing. It made it look like as if the guys really left the bakery when they did not.. And I think mister Manager's characteristics are a bit too cruel in the movie.
anyhow, I still like it. Its down-right hilarious.
I absolutely love the song, but I'm not so fond of the Korean Antique Bakery. The one who is basically Ono doesn't seem like Ono at all, the one who is basically Kanda is extremely nasty to poor Chikage, and the one who is basically Chikage seems more like a bumbling dumbo than he really is. I was a little disappointed :( Best to watch the anime or read the books^^ They rock and this song is fabulous! Thanks for posting the full thing!
@IwakiKatouLuver - eh. Besides Ono's hair, I'd say it was fairly accurate. I mean, let's not pretend that Chickage is anything but bumbling. When our lovely french suitor came for Ono, it took chickage several pages to even realize they were speaking a foreign language. Kanda wasn't any nastier than in the comic and the movie did a great job at integrating little details while not getting bogged down.
at the very least, it bested the japanese version, which removed Ono's homosexuality : /
I thought everyone was a bit hard on Chi too, but I like to charitably interpret it as a way of showing, in a short space of time, how incredibly frustrating it might get, working with him. In the manga, Tachibana is often a bit off about him, but since they have that old married couple vibe, it doesn't look too harsh.
Also, yes, their Ono looked pretty wrong in terms of appearance, but I think he absolutely nailed the characterisation. :3
I'm sure it could be frustrating, but I know Tachibana for one knew the reasons. And Kanda actually got along really well with Chi in the books <<
Well, that's true enough about Ono XD He was kind of the pervey Gay of Demonic Charm, but with a little bit of sensualism that I always think gets lost in manga and anime. So I agree with you Pippin4242 ^^
@MaySins You know, there's a whole genre of anime and manga where homosexuality features prominently and is usually portrayed positively. If you like Antique Bakery for that reason, there's a lot more where that came from.
@MaySins I have rewatched the movie in the time since I commented and while I still have a hard time liking it as compared to the anime or the manga, I find I DO enjoy a lot of it as long as I DON'T compare it. You're right, this depicted homosexuality in a happy, positive way and I think we do need to see more of this. <3
they're still really cute guys...

@IwakiKatouLuver I love the movie. It very much depicted the homosexuality in a happy way, instead of the sad, suicidal way that society viewed it.

@MaySins I completely agree with you. The movie was pretty darn amazing in that respect
