Lead Man...Buck taught Don how to play the "Bakersfield" sound which is the sound Buck was trying to achieve...When they met in Washington, Don was playing guitar as a second instrument and Fiddle as first. Don actually used Buck's Tele to learn on. Dad hung with them and Merle H. [he played with Buck for a while] till they went big and was traveling all the time. Buck was a killer guitar player in his own right.
Hi, folks. Back in 1966, I took my best girl (at the time) to see Buck and the Buckaroos at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Then, on March 5th, 1967, I was sharing the stage with Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, George Jones, Dick Curliss, and a few others. AND! I have the 8 X 10 photos to prove it. Between shows, there was no place to go, so we hung out back stage. Buck and the Buckaroos treated me like I was a member of the band. chuck2234
AHHHH YEAAAAAAAAH!! Ever play a game called El Emmigrante, well its where your jose and you cross the border with your bike and try to avoid the INS, but have no fear stumble upon is here. BTW this song is great.
I don't upload in the Holy Bible , but on YouTube . My avatar was elected by YouTube when I uploaded the video WHEN THE ROLL IS CALLED UP YONDER . It was elected from one of the images in the video . Actually it was only one . So I let it like that .
I learned this from memory after I heard another guitarist playing it. My memory wasn't perfect, so my version was very close but a bit different . It always got a great reaction when we played it. Usually filled the dance floor near the end of the night. The drinks helped too...
Buck had several great instrumentals but of course the one which really elevated his playing was "Buckaroo" still played on am radio on several stations. It also was on the hit charts back then.
Great music, but, his picture looks like he's 'bout to be jumped by a Yehti
