a tip for using s i call them easy outs or screw extractors never drill all the wa through the bolt or screw if u do when u hammer the easy out in it pushed the threads out locking the bolt tighter.
Also to the video poster they do make tap sockets so you don't need to jury rig a wrench in there like that. They're basically a standard socket with a square head rather than a hex to drive taps.
i have an extractor dug into the shaft and it is not breaking loose. i sprayed pB blaster on it and let it sit over nite. my part is still on the truck so i'm doing this on my back. i'm worried about breaking the extractor off in the bolt. i will have to progressively drill bigger untill i can collapse the bolt and pull it out in pieces, not wrecking the threads on the oil pan. i have nevr seen a bolt this frozen in over 40 years of mechanics.
@marvintheboon You could always just drill it out and helicoil it. It will be alot easier than monkeying around with the threads and risking further damage to the parts.
@syphilistic yeah I fucked it up.I drilled it through and the extractor worried me, I couldn't break it loose, so I backed out the ez out. I tapped a square punch in and broke it off. I am having the local shop tow it in and the guy says he is sure he can get it out, so im biting the bullet. Its my fault, I threw my temper tantrum, smashed a glass, and now I know it will get fixed. i should have replaced the bolt a couple of years ago, and I especially should have drove it to the mechanic B4 now
just a tip for all you mechanics out there. get yourself a small set or just buy the size you need left hand twist bits (yes they make these) and drill out the screw (if it is a standard right hand thread) many times when the bit grabs and starts cutting it will extract on the drill bit and there will be no need for the extractor set. but why put right hand twist bits in there and tighten the bolt further? spend $2.99 at napa thank me later and folow mfr instructions
Glad it worked for you, I have worked on auto's and different machinery for 40 plus years and 99 % of the time using these easyouts or extractors are a complete waist of time. I had the displeasure of trying one today, waist of time. My comment is not a negative one, just my personal experience. Again , glad it worked for you.
I had the same problem with the wing on my car. I tried other extractors, was not able to get to this kind. With this kind actually you should use a reverse drill bit to be sure that the nut will not tighten when you drill
Perfect! I have stripped primary inspection cover screws and derby cover screws. I'll be going to the local hardware store to buy a set similar to yours. I didn't know to drill first. Thanks!!!

Deadly, but what the hell was the reason behind why you did this?
You know, for us people who don't possess telepathy!
