  • Nausicaa and Castle in the sky are my 2 most favorite movies ever! :)

  • it's such legendary theme music. in strange way so familiar to the style of music heard in those old game arts games lunar and grandia. they're anime themed in graphics as well. highly recommend those if u like console rpg's..

  • The first 30 seconds are the best !!

  • I LOVE YOU.

  • Hey! In the words of some great idiot, "Shut up and listen to the song!" It doesn't matter which is better, they are both AWESOME, just enjoy the pretty (and slightly creepy) music.

  • the only avatar i know is the last airbender, fuck blue aliens! Nausicaa is an epic tale about a girl and her Ohmu!!!

  • ナウシカ漫画はストーリー良く出来てるんだよね…!。漫画全巻持ってるけど別にエヴァンゲリオンと同じで哲学漫画だよ…。アセンション関係無くて読んでみると良いと思うよ…。

  • Both Avatar and Miyazaki's movies have environmental themes. The difference? Avatar's theme was simplistic as "kill the environment, you kill life". And then Miyazaki's movies are many things at once aside from environmental. It is how good and evil can coexist in each side of the battle (yes, even the environment Miyazaki portrays is not immune to evil). For Miyazaki, it was "be caution in blaming the environment for hurting your people, you kill life, but you are capable of redemption."

  • lol i remeber these songs form the tv spots they had on the DVD i would always watch them and sing along ^_^

  • Saying that this movie has anything similar to Avatar is like saying that Ghostbusters are like Casper, the friendly ghost... except the toon is far better in first case :D

  • NOT TO MENTION NAUSICAA CAME OUT WAY BEFORE AVATAR SO SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THEM BEING THE SAME DAMMIT. that is all.

  • @Nitsirtriscuit of couse. Nausicaa is way better than Avatar

  • Nono Nausicaa FW

  • creepiest song I've ever heard....cause all I'm thinking about while listening is being swallowed up by a herd of giant mutant bugs....

  • god, i always wanted a little fox-squrrel of my own!

  • this is a wonderful song : )

  • Plus avatar is a rip off of Pocahontas, every bacteria on earth know it

  • Comment removed

  • @Fabzil

Ripoff? Avatar practically IS Pocahontas with a new coat of paint.

  • @Fabzil by this point in time it's practically impossible to create a totally original story sooo cut him some slack. Besides in Pocahontas, they never got to the point where they were all out killing eachother and it John Smith didn't nearly lose his identity while trying to become an indian so they arent exactly the same.

  • Laputa annihalates Naussica, Spirited Away, etc, etc...

  • @LettersAndNumbers731 Laputa is AWESOME, my favorite movie EVER!!! Naussica is great though!!!

  • @Gilmoreboy2007 great movies both. only thing going bad for nausicaa is the last war scenes kinda fuck it up. same thing happens in howl's moving castle

  • Guys guys guys, can we stop discussing which movie is like what and who took ideas from whom, and just stop and enjoy the beautiful soundtrack?

  • Everyone has the right to interpret a story the way they are able to and if they can share it with the world they should. After all, every movie or story means something different to each person who watches, reads or hears them. And thats what makes our world so amazing. Not what is in the world,( though it's beautiful) but the the way people around the world percive it.

  • WAIT. Is everyone talking about James Cameron's Avatar? or was it the Avatar: The Last AIrbender animated series?

  • Finally, I've been looking for this theme for ages

  • The synths used in this song are amazing.. Lush pads and drums and the stabs are something else. Loving it.. Not to mention the hauntingly beautiful pipes and vocals.. *Sigh* <3

  • i saw the movie. IT'S AWSEOME:D

  • There is no such thing as a new story, there are just new interpretations of older themes

  • To the Avatar-Miyazaki-discussion:

Today it's impossible to bring up any new things in a movie, a TV-show or a book, and since globalisation reaches nigh every corner of the world now there will always be people saying "Oh, this one is like what I saw before on [...] I am sure he / she borrowed it from there!"

Conflict between mankind and environment is subject to old legends everywhere around the world, as it is love, compassion and war.

If it's a good story let every story speak for itself.

  • @Cayreesha

It's the same with music. We're using up every idea possible, trying to make things different. We're bound to run out, and that's what's happening. We're running out of possibilities because we've used them all already.

  • @Cayreesha Sorry to reply to ur old post but I reckon James Cameron still shoud've been upfront about it since it wasn't only the theme that was similar but some of the scenes were pretty much a complete copy. You can tell the making of the Matrix was heavily influenced by Japanese animes but Wachowski bros were completely upfront about it, mentioning names such as GITS and Akira. I think most ppl r complaining not because he was influenced but the lack of tribute given to the originals.

  • @malibutequila what are u talking about? avatar is based on titanic. it's a remake of titanic set in an unknown planet

  • @DonMega187 actually in an interview Cameron said it was based off a tribe of people in the amazon who were about to try to fight off the government with bows and arrows because the government was going to build a dam that would put them all underwater and the government was trying to get them to relocate. And how is it like titanic? Jake lives? and wheres the sinking ship? and roses fiancee didnt set aside their differences and join jack in an interspecies war.

  • @Cayreesha This is one of the best comments I have read on youtube lately. I agree with you.

  • so cool!

  • I grew up with this movie 25 years ago when i was 4 under the Warriors of the Wind cut from New World when i rented it on video and fell in love with it. I had my parents bought it for me for christmas and i even made myself a second copy taped off HBO as i had 2 copies, i didn't know that my childhood fave animated movie was a crude butchery until i saw the uncut fansub tape at age 15 in anime club in high school but still accepted WOTW, good thing we got a fresh new uncut dub.

  • Poor little creature...

  • Cameron is a miyazaki fan, hence the similarities

meaning this movie isn't similar to them, they're similar to this movie

  • @DaughterxOfxBlaze

Cameron is a fan of animation and Sci-fi/fantasy as he did combined Nausicaa, Heavy Metal, Last of the Mohicans, Star Wars Trilogy, Princess Mononoke, Castle in The Sky, Dune, Fantastic Planet and Willow in one movie.

  • @Johnlindsey289 okay? why are you telling me this? obviously my previous statement shows I knew that and any art major like myself with half a brain could see the similarities

You know what, screw it. It's just space pocohontas

  • @DaughterxOfxBlaze

Cameron wrote Avatar before Pocahontas in 1993, he wanted it to film it after Titanic for a 1999 release date but had to delay the project for a decade because he had to wait for the technology to satisfy him. In 2005 he finally greenlighted the film after being convinced by LOTR's technology and Polar Express's technology. It was his story since 1988 but he changed it in 2005 to make it a more mainstream kind of thing and based on world history including those films

  • @Johnlindsey289 Why are you telling me this *facepalm*

besides, pocahontas kinda happened... way before film even existed

I stand by the fact that it's space pocahontas

  • @DaughterxOfxBlaze

Do you agree that Avatar perfected motion capture without going for dead-eyes ?

  • @Johnlindsey289 perfected? No of course not. It was a wonderful film of course and the animation was fantastic. The story was sweet but incredibly predictable and not very original. that's what it was to me, pretty CGI with a sweet couple and decent, though overused, story

  • @DaughterxOfxBlaze lets not forget that its totally Dances w/ Wolves too

  • @dragon5521

So do you think Avatar is DWW meets Nausicaa, Dune, Star Wars, Heavy Metal, Castle in The Sky, Fantastic Planet, Lightyears (Gandahar), Mononoke and Last of the Mohicans?

  • @Johnlindsey289 i wouldn't tarnish the names of those great movies by comparing them with Avatar, but yes XD

  • @dragon5521

Do you believe Avatar will ever be as good as Aliens, Terminator 2 or True Lies when it comes to Cameron movies or is it his worst film?

  • @Johnlindsey289 idk i PERSONALLY didn't enjoy avatar as much as the others, it only had the CGI actually going for it, whereas the other movies had an original plot, but to each his own

  • @dragon5521

What is your opinion on James Cameron? would you compare him to Miyazaki or Michael Bay?

  • This is my favorite anime movie that I own.

  • I rather think it's Avatar which is very similar to Nausicaa... ;o) But Nausicaa is far better

  • @chanandler3 that makes a james cameron a miyazaki fan. anywone noticed the influences of Rapyuta Castle in the sky on the sky lands in Avatar?

  • @edge88

of course Cameron is a fan of Miyazaki, animation, adult animation and Sci-fi/fantasy stuff.

  • @chanandler3

Cameron made Last of the Mohicans meets Nausicaa and Star Wars

  • @chanandler3 Avatar sucks. IT's effects are brilliant - but effects don't make a movie, nor a storyline. It's a bloody rip off from Pocahontas.

  • @missmuggledetector

You mean the story of Pocahontas, the actual story?

  • @Johnlindsey289 No, I was referring to the Disney historicaly inaccurate one whcich I still like xD

  • @chanandler3 Avatar is nothing like Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.... There are literally no similarities...

  • @chanandler3 and hotter if ya don't mind me adding

  • Awesome movie! anyone thinks this movie is similar to Avatar?

  • @Johnlindsey289

    Really ??

I don't really see any similarities between the two, aside from the jungle.

  • @Yovekk

Well Cameron did heavily borrowed from this with the toxic unbreathable jungle where people need masks to wear, similar insects, similar helicopters, the Tomekian village attack referenced in the attack scene of the Na'Vi village, tentacle things that resurrect people and the ending was a huge homage. Cameron combined Dune, Last of the Mohicans, Nausicaa, Mononoke, Castle in The Sky, Star Wars and 1981's Heavy Metal in one tasty cocktail

  • Nice....
