The Lisbon earthquake wiped out the whole city. The swine flu is a minor event - nothing like the 1918 pandemic. People are relaxed today, as life is very easy, with no real concerns. People in Germany in WW2 had to face racism, typhus and firestorms. They did not worry about things like climate change and health care.

Tesla did experiments in wireless energy transmission that led to the idea that you could bounce RF waves off of the ionosphere and get energy out of it. I don't know of any experiments that proved this. The fact that research into this is so limited is the only real conspiracy I see surrounding Tesla's work, but I'm well aware of the broader conspiracy taking place.
