when u play the D, like toward the end where there is no singing just strumming. you should think of that as a triplet instead of 4/4, b/c the song is in the key of G, and the D seems to try and take it's place

Hey, Ann! While I see Draq's point about some predictability to the song, I think the lyrics are what set it apart. It's a cleverly written song about a subject that -- oddly -- isn't tackled often. I'd like to see you sing it with a little more oomph tho'. Put a little more power behind it -- not like a power ballad or anything -- and I think it'll resonate more. Just my 2 cents. -Kp
It's a really good song if you like every female singer that has a guitar and got on the radio. You need more than a pretty voice. Chord structures are predictable but that makes for good pop. It is good pop, just not my kind of alternative, so my opinion is biased.
The song is really great. I like the combination of your soprano register and the slight edge on the mood of the chords and lyrics--like you and your friend went through a lot.

I have added a few things. I think I understand what you mean about the chord changes. Interesting observation, actually. :)
One thing that I noticed, if you're still searching for improvements, is that the melody is always moving exactly in line with the chord changes. I mean, the pitch of the melody jumps when there's a chord change. It feels a little pedestrian, kinda like blocks of lego if you know what I mean. Maybe you could try adding some passing notes in the melody around the chord changes,
I'M NO PRO: had to think twice about this..but u wanted opinions, so i figured wat the hell. Ur voice is solid and very melodious! n i enjoyed the whole song :D so thanx for sharing this on youtube. and um, well i guess u cud try alternating strumming styles (if u wanna add more feel with the guitar, so that ur voice comes out better through the sequence of the song. plus maybe a bridge sequence with some soft smooth plucking, that would help add more emphasis

Generally, I wanted to hear you louder/more clearer so I must agree with Kakera. Your breathing seemed pretty damn good and you held your notes wonderfully. Only thing that felt weird (even though I expected it) was that slide down..

okay yeah i liked it well you asked me to give you some advise, the song is great and so is the playing but try to do a little picking in the intro and at the bridge and work your voice girl, you have a wonderful voice so dont be afraid to sing YOUR song like you do with "kiss me", but other than that i loved it

When I was divorced in '96,I didn't pick up a guitar for almost 9 years. But I recently started playing again and trying to get the passion back.Right now I'm learning some Roy Orbison stuff.Such a voice and a great writer too.My guitar of choice was a Takamine 12 String.

i have some critisism,
when u play the D, like toward the end where there is no singing just strumming. you should think of that as a triplet instead of 4/4, b/c the song is in the key of G, and the D seems to try and take it's place

so keep the half notes (steps) and strum it 6 times into the next cord (Em i think) where you do treat the Em as a triplet and whole notes

Hey, Ann! While I see Draq's point about some predictability to the song, I think the lyrics are what set it apart. It's a cleverly written song about a subject that -- oddly -- isn't tackled often. I'd like to see you sing it with a little more oomph tho'. Put a little more power behind it -- not like a power ballad or anything -- and I think it'll resonate more. Just my 2 cents. -Kp

It's a really good song if you like every female singer that has a guitar and got on the radio. You need more than a pretty voice. Chord structures are predictable but that makes for good pop. It is good pop, just not my kind of alternative, so my opinion is biased.

The song is really great. I like the combination of your soprano register and the slight edge on the mood of the chords and lyrics--like you and your friend went through a lot.

or even move the jumps in the melody to the middles of the bars, so it contrasts and creates some more tension with the chord changes.

One thing that I noticed, if you're still searching for improvements, is that the melody is always moving exactly in line with the chord changes. I mean, the pitch of the melody jumps when there's a chord change. It feels a little pedestrian, kinda like blocks of lego if you know what I mean. Maybe you could try adding some passing notes in the melody around the chord changes,

I'M NO PRO: had to think twice about this..but u wanted opinions, so i figured wat the hell. Ur voice is solid and very melodious! n i enjoyed the whole song :D so thanx for sharing this on youtube. and um, well i guess u cud try alternating strumming styles (if u wanna add more feel with the guitar, so that ur voice comes out better through the sequence of the song. plus maybe a bridge sequence with some soft smooth plucking, that would help add more emphasis

I actually do have something in there now. I really should tighten it up and post an updated version. Thanks for the tips on the strumming, too. I really do need to work on that. Thank you so much! Ooooh, Good God, that was gorgeous. Hmm, now constructive feedback... I'm no good at that, but let's see.
Generally, I wanted to hear you louder/more clearer so I must agree with Kakera. Your breathing seemed pretty damn good and you held your notes wonderfully. Only thing that felt weird (even though I expected it) was that slide down..
That being said, that's better than I could ever hope to do :P Lovely lady, gorgeous song, I loved it!

It's hard to explain what I meant by 'weird' because it fits in and I did expect it... hmm. Pointless musings, I'd say, because you've done a marvelous job, rough draft or not. okay yeah i liked it well you asked me to give you some advise, the song is great and so is the playing but try to do a little picking in the intro and at the bridge and work your voice girl, you have a wonderful voice so dont be afraid to sing YOUR song like you do with "kiss me", but other than that i loved it

Very Cool.Yeah,I was a musician(on my own and in a few bands,nothing major,clubs,etc.,)from my teenage years until the early '90's. When I was divorced in '96,I didn't pick up a guitar for almost 9 years. But I recently started playing again and trying to get the passion back.Right now I'm learning some Roy Orbison stuff.Such a voice and a great writer too.My guitar of choice was a Takamine 12 String.

Wow!...yer vocals are so much more natural on this than your covers...No offense, I like them too, but I also like the dynamics and deeper tones on this than the covers allow you. Good job, dont neglect this talent too much, and thanx for sharing some of it!
