Oh do come along, chaps, such discussions are not becoming of us are they? I feel our variety and differences should be celebrated and respected :-) Thank goodness it's the weekend tomorrow!
Traditional Sparring is not pre-choreographed. I do ITF Taekwondo, Traditional Sparring is light contact and refinement of technique, it is not pre-decided like what these guys are doing.
how come there are hundreds of videos on youtube taged "ITF traditional sparring" with the same type of pre-arranged fights than? how come you assume that if you do ITF TKD you know better, I do ITF too. How come you don't have the tkd tree printed on the back of your dobok? And lastly, why are you being rude with answers like "uhh no. "?
I assume by "TKD Tree" you mean the korean characters for Taekwondo vertically, not every ITF school uses that, Sun Duk Sung, my Grandmaster for example doesnt have all his students wear the symbols. Regardless of whether or not there are "hundreds of videos taged itf traditional sparring with the same type of pre-arranged fights" It doesnt change that "Sparring" is not pre-choreographed! Just because alot of people do demonstrations and call it traditional sparring doesnt mean their right.
I think it's safer to assume that your particular school/organization has a different meaning than in most schools. There are many people and official websites who refer to that as "traditional sparring".
Those characters are commonly called "the TKD tree", in "my" ITF at least, like the belt colors have their methaphorical meanings those characters also refer to a tree.
I'm not very familiar with all those subdivisions within ITF, but Im in the exactly same branch as Suska, just from a dif city
Suska is in ITF Vienna

If your instructor is GM Sun, you are not doing ITF TKD, you are doing Chung Do Kwan TKD.

You are right, but we still use ITF patterns, and I guess I assumed we had the same sparring practices, but that must be the difference.
thanks 1964
