if you'd add a rubber band to that, it will disable you to make precise rotation moves.

You can't add the rubber band to any other part of the steadycam cause those are used to balance the camera - any manipulation would cause in a un-steady shot.

@monostroy thanks. Yes, it's the Sony HDR-XR500VE, a HD camcorder. The Glidecam HD-1000 is used to stabilize the picture. Looks alot better than the normal noisie camera moves using a hand held camcorder

@monostroy hmm obviously the DCR-VX2100e is a DV camcorder recording in SD. It has some more tools you can use and stuff but.. I would suggest the HDR XR500 is better. It records in full HD with X.V. Color and Exmor R..

The SR12 is the previous model, the XR500 got some "bugfixes", for example better lowlight recording.

@thereape420 well, you can't set the shutterspeed. But activating the smooth shoot option and shooting at brighter places helps. I also use a steadycam rig to smooth the camera movement.

Also I grade the color in postproduction.

@thereape420 I record with X.V.Clolr. White balance should never be set to automatic, I always manually balance the white before shooting a video. Brightnes can be set to automatic since the cam knows best how to regulate the shutter speed to get a good brightnes.

@thereape420 LOL I even don't get the lowest weight needed with my sony on the HD-1000!!! Ouch, have fun balancing it, the 2000 model is supposed to work for semi prefessional cameras, not for handycams.

I'm considering buying this particular Glidecam myself. I have a Sony HDR-XR200 (one step lower in the series). I'm also going to buy a lens hood (30mm) and a wide angle lens plus a fitting hood (probably 43mm).

Now: the camera is pretty light, even with the stuff I'll be fitting on it. Did you have problems setting it up because the camera is so light? Could you show your setup in a video/pictures? I'd love to hear what others with a similar camera have to say to help me decide.

Yes, I had problems with the weight. Mine was too ligth but I fixed that with getting some extra weight on the plattform and get low weights on the glidecamfoot and a zero extended glidecam arm.

I'm also going to buy a wide angle lens since that produces the highest production value and gives extra weigt.

Don't worry about the maximum weigt, you can't reach it with a handycam.

The closeup nature shots were very good and would benefit from less camera motion. Although you have a glidecam (as I do also), constant motion can be annoying after a while. The dog running and jumping in slow motion was very very good. I would cut the scene with the wooden overhead frame.

einen regenschutz für die hdr-xr500ve hätte ich da noch ganz gerne. dieses unterwassergehäuse ist ja eher klobig und für aufnahmen im regen vielleicht nicht notwendig. oder? finde aber keine alternative, als regenschutz! schade!

nachvertonen muss ich dann bestimmt eh, weil ich auch textpassagen aus dem off habe bzw. monologe eingesprochen werden. habe aber noch keinen plan, was ich zum nachvertonen benötige. außerdem sollten die dialoge zwischen personen nicht unbedingt nachvertont werden. weiß nicht, ob es dann noch so authentisch wirkt. nebengeräusche sollten schon bleiben, aber auch nur als nebengeräusch. ist es wohl besser, auf 2.0 sound umzustellen? oder sollte man wohl 5.1 belassen? ich glaube wohl eher 2.0?

ja, filter kann man mit Objektiv zusammenstellen.

ECM-HGZ1 - Zoommikrofon, klarer sound.

ECM-HST1 - hochwertiger als das andere.

ECM-HW2 - 5.1 Kabelloses Mikrofon. Rauschfilter und alles, das wär zu empfehlen, kostet aber auch...

ah, aber natürlich sind das nur die Gammel Mikrofone von Sony.

Ich benutze öfters normale Chormikrofone oder sowas, die kann man auch anschließen. Solltest dann aber nicht zu viel mit ner Glidecam rumlaufen.

Wenn du Kurzfilme drehst ist nachvertonen besser.

ich habe es gerade mit einem gewicht auf jeder seite versucht. hat nicht funktioniert. habe jetzt zwei gewichte auf jeder seite positioniert. ich bekomme es einfach nicht hin. die glidecam schwenkt ständig nach links. ich werde weiterhin mein glück versuchen. hast du sehr lange dafür gebraucht, bis du alles ausgerichtet hattest? ich würde mir auch gerne eine uv-filter zulegen. hast du damit schon irgendwelche erfahrungen gesammelt?

Ich hab herausgefunden, dass mit einem Gewicht auf jeder Seite die HD-1000 gut ausgeglichen ist.

Das Finetuning , damit die Glidecam nicht beim Aufheben schwänkt, musste anner Plattform machen.

nein. Auf keiner Fall Alle dranschrauben. Es beruht auf Physikalischen Gesetzen und muss ausgeglichen werden.

Ich habe auf jeder seite 1 Gewicht und die Gewichtarme ganz eingefahren. Der Teleskopstab ist auf 5mm-1cm abstand zum Boden zusammengefahren. Die Kamera ist in der Mitte der Plattform, ausgeklapptes Display auf 45° Neigung.

Ich empfehle das VCL-HG0737C Weitwinkel objektiv zu kaufen.

Dann haste mehr Gewicht und Cinema Feeling.

So gut die Aufnahmen auf den ersten Blick aussehen - die Farbkorrektur ist nicht so gut geworden. Das Schwarz ist dermaßen versumpft und das Weiss dadurch zu überstrahlt. Dadurch gehen viel Details verloren, gerade beim Hund. Dein Schnee ist öfters grau (besser eine Blende weiter öffnen beim Filmen). Die Musik und die Szenen an sich sind aber sehr gut geworden, deshalb 4 von 5 Sterne.

Es gibt sehr viele Meinungen mittlerweile über das Video. Du meinst also, das weiß sei zu strahlend. Das stimmt, es strahlt, deswegen hab ich ja auch n Glow effekt in AE hinzugefügt ;) Und ne offene blende würde die letzten Details im Schnee beseitigen. Und Schwarzer Hund vor weißem schnee is verdammt schwer gut zu belichten

Kannst du erläutern, wie du schwammiges schwarz meinst? Ich dachte auch schon, mit dem Schatten stimmt was nicht, bin aber nicht drauf gekommen, was genau es ist..

Das Weis darf ruhig strahlend sein (aber nicht überstrahlt (Zebra benutzen!)), aber dadurch dass der Kontrast viel zu hoch ist erkennt man eben keine Details mehr im Schwarz und das Weis ist eben entweder zu überstrahlt oder grau. Anscheinend hast du eh Auto-gefilmt wegen dem Lichtpumpen. Die Blende bei Schnee eins weiter zu öffnen als die Auto Einstellung erklärt dir jeder Kameramann, vielleicht hast du aber auch keinen Weißabgleich gemacht?

Das mit den Lichtpumpen kommt evtl auch vom glow. Wenn da was vorgeht, dann leuchten die Ränder über.

The way i get smooth shots like those is i just attach my camcorder to my tripod and film by holding the top of the tripod legs and the paning handle. :)

well, you doN't attach the glidecam to your camera, you more attach the camera to the glidecam.

It's a stabilizing system for smooth camera footage. It is used in films (my stabilizer is for camcorders, on film they use bigger).

Not perfect smooth yet, but I'm working.
