After winning junior worlds in 2008 I expected her to grow faster but she seems to have got stuck. Mirai Nagasu is soon going to take U.S. first spot.
@RCskater97 Not to mention with Alissa's Top 5 finish, Mirai would have only needed to place 8th or higher overall for the US to earn 3 berths for next year's Worlds. I think that's where the fine is most appropriate. In a way, this is a team sport as one's placement can determine the number of entries earned for the next season. Imagine how this would have turned out had it been the Worlds just before the Olympics?
@3Axel1996 Not to mention, Rachel should have been more concerned with the potentiality of jeopardizing her health had she done more damage to that broken fibula than it already was? She could've unnecessarily ended her skating career if something went wrong during her skates.
@sparkles2189 Yeah, she was fined and reprimanded for not disclosing her injury to the powers that be. Well deserved, she signed the contract to do so after all and she's an adult. No use crying over spilt milk but I hope Mirai gets her act together and gets her butt back on that World team where she belongs. I don't know why I keep coming back to watch Rachael's disaster of a program. Fascination like with train wrecks I suppose. Miraculous she didn't hurt herself skating on a fractured tibia.
Flatt usually has Kwan-like consistency. Don't know what happened this year. Well, she's young. A great score by the way. Never heard in figure skating. "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue"
@karlowens2 It is NOT a great score, not for Flatt and it knocked her down all the way to 14 place-her worse ranking at Worlds. She skated knowingly on a broken leg so I feel no sympathy for her. She should have withdrawn and allowed the 1st alternate Mirai Nagasu to go for it. She may not have gotten those 3 spots back along with Alissa-but on the other hand she may have even won the whole damn thing!
@karlowens2 - She was usually very consistent year after year. But I find her skating boring and she seems "heavy" on the ice (not a reference to her body.)
guys give her a break..she had an injury prior to this competition.

Hate to say this, but Rachel Flatt's Spins are very sloppy . In a way that makes it look kinda weird up close . Just the way her body look demented .
