sorry 7stringkid, i see how that would be possible, but that's incorrect. I just want to explain that it's the ARPEGGIO which is the NOTES of a CHORD. Like in an eMinor Arpeggio, the notes are E, B, and G. Same as an E minor Chord.

@alfrebame Arpeggio is a normal chord which has been divided in this some sort of melodic thing.

Sweep Picking is gently going through all the melodic strings of an Arpeggio. BE CAREFUL The RIGHT Hand Moves Slowly from the top to the bottom and the same thing backwards.

A Lick is just a part of the song which has a beginning and an ending you can do that again and again it sounds cool.

its the same thing they just call it sweeping because your sweeping your pick acrossed the strings up and down .And they call them arpeggios because sweeps are made by arpeggios and thats the musical term for it i hope that helps your question.

sweep picking, is the act of moving the pick over an ARPEGGIO in succession.

An arpeggio is the notes of a chord. They can be played in many different positions and in different shapes. A lick anything you play that fits into the key/scale.

sweep picking doesn't HAVE to be an arpeggio, and there are plenty arpeggios that can be played without sweeps.

Sweeping is just moving the pick across multiple strings in one direction in one fluid motion without starts or stops.

Arpeggios exist in more than guitar, and can be played across octaves, so techincally there are some arpeggios that CANNOT be sweeped.

I suggest you stop going on assumptions and actually pick up a book.

Sweeping is a right hand mechanic independent of what the left hand is doing. Sure, In shred and other fast music styles its essentially only used for arpeggios, but there are plenty of slower songs that sweep across chord shapes that don't follow arpeggio patterns

Am chord and arpeggio are based of the 3 notes A,C, and E. the sweep would also be done with those same notes. of course, there are MANY variations to chords, but as long as the notes of the chord are there, you can build an arpeggio, and from that, sweep. difficult to explain in small detail.

@clubby9806 if you are breaking up a chord pattern by a sweeping motion it is an arpeggio. and arpeggio is a chord broken up. and essentially any sequence of notes could be considered an arpeggio because if you put those notes together you will make a chord albeit a very off sounding one

in my opinion in most case its the fact that after picking the string you dont lift you finger from the string fast enought if its not that then it maybe be youre way of picking but i doubt it

Herman is an awesome player,really fast and clean in the studio,incredible solos and technique but his playing is very repetitive.

Syu doesn't have as clean technique but his songwriting skills are amazing,his ability to blend so many different styles and always have a riff or fill to play without over doing it,
