They are always putting BMW coupes against the G37 sedans because its the only way BMW can come close to the Infiniti, they never race both sedans or else the 335i sedan would be left in the dust.

"or else the 328i sedan would be left in the dust"... the G37 does not offer an underpowered Trim as an entry class model in the G range, unfortunantley they Infiniti decided to follow the rest of the herd, There is G25 expected to come out at the end of this NOV, bosting 218 HP =(. I know the 335i sedan and coupe produce the same power, but the 328i does not which is why the only viable competitor to the G37 in terms of power is the 335i coupe or sedan.

dude the g35 is better than the 335i. the g costs less, and in my opinion has a nicer interior and comes with better standard features, and is as fast if not faster. however, both are really good cars but in the end the g is better

These are two really great cars...I've been shopping them and am having a hard time deciding between them. The Infinti is not quite as refined as the BMW (louder engine that doesn't sound as good), and doesn't feel quite as "together," but it has a huge price advantage - about 10K. The BMW has an edge in driving quality, and I like that it has a lot more interior trim / color combos. I'm leaning towards the BMW but I'm holding off until I can drive the G37.
i test drove a fully loaded 09 g37xS sedan, and it is very impressive, but like you, i am leaning toward the 335i and will test drive it within the next few weeks. don't get the auto in the g, it always seems to hesitate in shifting, but it fast all the same, and the awd is great, i was speeding by other people at 100mph in a 55 zone and it was pouring rain like hell. hope this helps...

Why argue with me, Gustav from M5board is now selling the Dvds of all the runs they did. I think its available on the gtboard site. Youll see how they ran both V1 and V2 chips ( two different 335is) against porsche turbos, gallardos, m5s, m6s, and alot more, aswell as probably 100 other races. The V2 335i used had 400rwhp ( turbo back exhaust). They did runs from 30-155mph, and it put 10 car lengths or more on the following : RS4, 911S, e92 m3, E55 AMG, E46 M3 CSL. It also beat the m5 to 125mph
Pal you dont know what your talking about, an M5 is pretty ordinary from a Dig. It will do a high 12 at approx 116-118mph, vs its rival an E63 which may run 0.2 of a sec quicker but at a lower trap speed (113-115mph). The M5 is a 100mph + car, not a drag car ( it only has 375lb ft torque), where as a 335i with a chip has 400lbs ft at the wheels ( approx 450lbs at the engine). From a Dig, a V2 335i with turboback exhaust will beat an m5 over the 1/4, but on a 80mph+ roll the m5 owns it.
The only way a 335i can pretty much "rule the road" is if you put a $1300 vishnu procede V2 chip in it. It will then be good for approx 420bhp and over 400lbs ft of torque. Shiv ( Vishnu founder) ran a 12.3 @ 117mph on street tyres and a crappy 2.1-2.2 sec 60ft time. With a better Launch he could have done notably better.
M5 board have also done runs in sweden with a V2 335i, and it polished off M5s, E55s,911s and Gallardos from 30-125mph rolling runs.. as well as the new e92 m3.
And I'm sorry, but a $1300 chip is not going to give the 335i an edge over an M5. I like the 335i, but let's be realistic, the only way a 335i could beat an M5 is if you did serious weight reduction and turned up the turbos to a ridiculously high level of boost (which would probably blow the engine after a few runs).
i wouldnt be too sure about the 335i not giving the m5 a run for its money. i love the m5 and would always chose that over a 3, but ive seen chipped 335's running 4.2 seconds to 60
Not after 130+ mph. The M5 would waste it. The 335i's chassis is not designed aerodynamically to go that fast. The tires aren't rated for that speed and it would be unstable.
We all know that a 335i is a faster car than a G35i. But! that doesnt mean that a good driver in a G35 sedan ( not the old coupe because those are definitely not quick enough) cannot beat a 335i, because they no doubt can. A properly driven 335i will do as low as a 13.2-13.3 sec 1/4 mile stock, while an ordinary to badly driven one can do a high 13 to low 14. A well driven G35 is more like a 13.7 +.

5.4 my ass, maybe mag times which are 14.0-14.2, I pop of 5.1's all day and smoke the mag times, and have already downed 335I's. They have great low end torque which gets them moving but stock to stock I walk away from them after that.

If you are doing 5.1s and a 335i is not beating you, they are doing something wrong.
This is assuming both cars are stock. Really, if you do minor mods (under $3,500), the 335i will pound the G into the ground. The Dinan chip ($2,800 IIRC) puts it at 400+ hp.
I know the 335i is the faster easily with mods. Its always easier to get power out of a turbo car than an NA one. BUT I do know the two cars are closer in performance than what many think. I know my G35S ran faster than I thought it would at Houston raceway. I was hoping for a 13.8 and MAYBE a 13.7 but a 13.53 first pass was a suprise. Even though I had the VDC turned off it still registered slip at the top of first and cut the power causing the car to fall on its face. It can do a 13.3 I bet.
If I were out to mod a G35 to take out a 335i the first thing I would do is twin turbo it. In fact we are looking at trading the 07 G35S for an 08 G35X and twin turbo it. After running the 07 and seeing how traction limited it is I wouldn't waste time adding power to it, at least not another 100 horses. But with a G35X the AWD will allow the power to be put down.
I mean, that's ton of added weight though. I don't know, both are nice cars, but I don't think I'd buy either. My current car offers a similar level of performance, so if I were to spend a bunch of money on a new car, it would have ot represent a significant performance increase (a new M3 or 911 S, I've also though about a used 911 Turbo or M5).
True it adds weight, and although the G35X would run great twin turbo, it would still just be a G35. Not downing the G35, I love ours, but its a great value at its price/performance/luxury point, and sinking another $10k in it to gain mid to low 12 second quarters kills that ratio. Its a nice car, just not THAT nice of a car.
The bimmer also has an AWD model, I bet that would be fun to toy with.
By the way, not a thing wrong with your E36 M3, those cars are true sports cars. Nice ride.
And you are right that I can't afford either car, I drive an E36 M3 (Euro spec). But in a few years (year and a half? Depends on my doctoral thesis), I'll be able to get a much better car than either of those.
I have test driven both though, if it counts for anything, as well as the E90 (E93?) M3.

You definitely don't know what you are talking about. Our G35S is bone stock and pulls 1.9 60ft times and runs 13.50's all day so the cars are close. Thats why you bother comparing and thats why I have downed 4 different 335i's in a row on the street.

i own a 2007 335i coupe which i traded my 05 STi for, in case that comment was reffering to me. I'm not denying the G35S is a quick car. I just cant seem to make sense of this video, when i have oblitterated countless G35S's and the new G. Mine is bone stock w/paddle shift steptronic and sport package. Either i'm a better driver, or my coupe is just faster. Any way, nice G none the less.
i would guess that your coupe would beat the G sedan because of the added weight, but even though the coupe is heavy, it has more power than the sedan so i would say the G coupe could possibly give your 3 a run for its money (with a really good driver behind the G). i dont know for sure though because i have seen races with both outcomes

Why argue with me, Gustav from M5board is now selling the Dvds of all the runs they did. I think its available on the gtboard site. Youll see how they ran both V1 and V2 chips ( two different 335is) against porsche turbos, gallardos, m5s, m6s, and alot more, aswell as probably 100 other races. The V2 335i used had 400rwhp ( turbo back exhaust). They did runs from 30-155mph, and it put 10 car lengths or more on the following : RS4, 911S, e92 m3, E55 AMG, E46 M3 CSL. It also beat the m5 to 125mph

Pal you dont know what your talking about, an M5 is pretty ordinary from a Dig. It will do a high 12 at approx 116-118mph, vs its rival an E63 which may run 0.2 of a sec quicker but at a lower trap speed (113-115mph). The M5 is a 100mph + car, not a drag car ( it only has 375lb ft torque), where as a 335i with a chip has 400lbs ft at the wheels ( approx 450lbs at the engine). From a Dig, a V2 335i with turboback exhaust will beat an m5 over the 1/4, but on a 80mph+ roll the m5 owns it.

The only way a 335i can pretty much "rule the road" is if you put a $1300 vishnu procede V2 chip in it. It will then be good for approx 420bhp and over 400lbs ft of torque. Shiv ( Vishnu founder) ran a 12.3 @ 117mph on street tyres and a crappy 2.1-2.2 sec 60ft time. With a better Launch he could have done notably better.
M5 board have also done runs in sweden with a V2 335i, and it polished off M5s, E55s,911s and Gallardos from 30-125mph rolling runs.. as well as the new e92 m3.

And I'm sorry, but a $1300 chip is not going to give the 335i an edge over an M5. I like the 335i, but let's be realistic, the only way a 335i could beat an M5 is if you did serious weight reduction and turned up the turbos to a ridiculously high level of boost (which would probably blow the engine after a few runs).

there are piggybacks that can make the 335i hang with the M5. but you also need the exhaust and intake. they cost around 2300.

Not after 130+ mph. The M5 would waste it. The 335i's chassis is not designed aerodynamically to go that fast. The tires aren't rated for that speed and it would be unstable.

We all know that a 335i is a faster car than a G35i. But! that doesnt mean that a good driver in a G35 sedan ( not the old coupe because those are definitely not quick enough) cannot beat a 335i, because they no doubt can. A properly driven 335i will do as low as a 13.2-13.3 sec 1/4 mile stock, while an ordinary to badly driven one can do a high 13 to low 14. A well driven G35 is more like a 13.7 +.

Haha, you're such a tool. The G35S sedan runs a 5.4 second 0-60, while the 335i runs 4.9 to 4.8 seconds.
Maybe you don't fear them, but you can't beat them, unless it's a manual and the driver misses a shift horribly.
When compared to any G35 or G37, the 335i is a faster car, whether coupe or sedan. That fact is not up for debate.

5.4 my ass, maybe mag times which are 14.0-14.2, I pop of 5.1's all day and smoke the mag times, and have already downed 335I's. They have great low end torque which gets them moving but stock to stock I walk away from them after that.
I bet you can't afford either car. So that makes YOU the tool. We are keeping the G35S for my wife and I am picking up an R35 GTR, then we will see which twin turbo is faster eh? There's your tool lamer, suck on it!

If you are doing 5.1s and a 335i is not beating you, they are doing something wrong.
This is assuming both cars are stock. Really, if you do minor mods (under $3,500), the 335i will pound the G into the ground. The Dinan chip ($2,800 IIRC) puts it at 400+ hp.

I know the 335i is the faster easily with mods. Its always easier to get power out of a turbo car than an NA one. BUT I do know the two cars are closer in performance than what many think. I know my G35S ran faster than I thought it would at Houston raceway. I was hoping for a 13.8 and MAYBE a 13.7 but a 13.53 first pass was a suprise. Even though I had the VDC turned off it still registered slip at the top of first and cut the power causing the car to fall on its face. It can do a 13.3 I bet.

If I were out to mod a G35 to take out a 335i the first thing I would do is twin turbo it. In fact we are looking at trading the 07 G35S for an 08 G35X and twin turbo it. After running the 07 and seeing how traction limited it is I wouldn't waste time adding power to it, at least not another 100 horses. But with a G35X the AWD will allow the power to be put down.

I mean, that's ton of added weight though. I don't know, both are nice cars, but I don't think I'd buy either. My current car offers a similar level of performance, so if I were to spend a bunch of money on a new car, it would have ot represent a significant performance increase (a new M3 or 911 S, I've also though about a used 911 Turbo or M5).

True it adds weight, and although the G35X would run great twin turbo, it would still just be a G35. Not downing the G35, I love ours, but its a great value at its price/performance/luxury point, and sinking another $10k in it to gain mid to low 12 second quarters kills that ratio. Its a nice car, just not THAT nice of a car.
The bimmer also has an AWD model, I bet that would be fun to toy with.
By the way, not a thing wrong with your E36 M3, those cars are true sports cars. Nice ride.

And you are right that I can't afford either car, I drive an E36 M3 (Euro spec). But in a few years (year and a half? Depends on my doctoral thesis), I'll be able to get a much better car than either of those.
I have test driven both though, if it counts for anything, as well as the E90 (E93?) M3.

it was either a dead tie or one of the cars won by a hair string. it seems like the magazines were lying about the Gs 0-60 times or whatever. if the G really does 13.8 to the quarter mile, the bimmer would of obviously won by a large margin considering the bimmer does it to 13.4. lets not be bias people, both are awesome cars

i own a 2007 335i coupe which i traded my 05 STi for, in case that comment was reffering to me. I'm not denying the G35S is a quick car. I just cant seem to make sense of this video, when i have oblitterated countless G35S's and the new G. Mine is bone stock w/paddle shift steptronic and sport package. Either i'm a better driver, or my coupe is just faster. Any way, nice G none the less.

i would guess that your coupe would beat the G sedan because of the added weight, but even though the coupe is heavy, it has more power than the sedan so i would say the G coupe could possibly give your 3 a run for its money (with a really good driver behind the G). i dont know for sure though because i have seen races with both outcomes

The bimmer lost by a solid 3 or 4 car lengths. I have laid waste to 4 of these 335i's in my G35S, yes they are fast but they don't rule the road like many would like to believe.
