  • I was in the San Diego MCRD band in 1978-1979! OOH RAH!!! Parris Island! Then the School of Music!!! New York parade of Ships in 1976 then Japan then San Diego! It was wonderful. BUT I was a Marine FIRST!!! Musician second!!!

  • oorah! and semper fi!

  • Compare us to any military group. I marched corps prior to being in this same parade a couple years before. I lived just down the street. Don't belittle a Marine Band. You should experience what we train for and go through just to get there. Also, we are not exempt from deploying to a conflict area. We keep up both sides. Many have become recon, intel, martial arts instructors if that is your mental image. We can do your job, you most likely can't do ours!

  • @infinity182yahoo The only way I'd belittle a Marine Band is by its musicianship, or lack of.

  • The firetruck is their Humvee :D

  • The U.S.M.C. is full of B.A.M.F.'s. :)

  • I think the Henderson Hall Marine Band is way sharper than these guys/gals.

  • @gjohnson87109 Wow, I looked real hard and did not see you in this line of Marines. These "guys/gals" (Marines) looked pretty good; I want them on my wall any day. Comparing these marines to 8th & I is just not fair or very intelligent. So much for thinking.

  • nice, do u know if they play regular concerts too?

  • Yes, Slightly Different Group but they do have a Concert Group.

  • We do concerts, quintets, jazz bands, show bands, the works basically. The marching band is basically anyone who isn't on light duty and is able body to march. The concert band is the whole band.
