  • If the ad isn't intentional in the message, it's really poor judgement on their part because on the internet these things spread. If it was intentional then that makes sense because the commercial got attention.

  • thats because australians think theres no racism here. if you even have the slightest thought in your mind that someone in australia is being racist at any point in time someone will read your mind and it will be plastered all over the news. all that happening and they deny racism when just a few months ago there was this whole thing about banning those cloth things that the muslim women wear in a certain area. iv experienced racism on a few occaisions myself.

  • @986401 If your talking about the Burqa then no its never been baned but it should be and its got nothing to do with race, its about a person concealing their identity in Public. My sister in-law is muslim and also agrees it should be banned. It's already been banned in other countries, but the govt wont ban if for far of being called racist.

  • @986401 Look up Carnita Matthews who accused a cop of being racist when he was trying to identify her. She was found to have been lying about the incident and convicted of making a false statement but it was overturned due to the fact that she could not be identified. So you can actually blame a Muslim women for bring this argument on her own community.

  • @986401 The argument is not so much it should be banned in total but it should be banned where your not allowed to conceal your identity... You cant wear a helmet or balaclava in a Bank, Petrol Station, Air Port, you can be asked to remove it in shopping centers, its no different. Nobody has any complaints about the ones that just cover the hair/head... its only the face which conceals identity.

  • Or maybe they're saying that KFC can put an end to any uneasy situation. Man, the moral of the story is, Americans put too much emphasis on race.

  • First time in a while that I agree 100% with Ana. It doesn't matter where they are from. A white person giving a bunch of rowdy black people chicken, in order to calm them down is racist.

  • That is a good question actually. Why did you Australians not want Americans to see it?

  • @InMyNightSky nobody hid it from America, it wasn't relevant to America, it was for a local campaign for cricket and a meal deal. Its not racist he's not trying to calm black people down because they are NOT being uncivilized as TYT suggest, they are having fun enjoying the cricket. He's making friends by sharing food. its only KFC because they sponsor the cricket. You guys are putting too much emphasis on race... get over it.

  • @ninjachick81 How about you get over the fact that this ad is racist. If this is acceptable in Australia then Australia is a place I would never want to visit.

  • @InMyNightSky Great we don't want your ignorance here! You haven't made a valid argument as to why this is racist now have you. Why do you see them as uncivilized when we just see them as a crowd of fans at a cricket match having fun supporting their team.

  • @ninjachick81 Just like Ana has says. This ad is racist. Australians didn't want anyone else to see this ad because they knew it was racist. It does not matter where you are from. There is a white person giving a bunch of black people, who happen to be acting wild, chicken and suddenly the black people calm down. It promotes a stereotype. Now maybe I would think differently if it wasn't one white person and dozens of black people. If he gave the chicken to another white person, it would be ok.

  • @InMyNightSky Australians didn't hide it... It wasn't shown overseas because its not relevant - you have a different menu/specials and you dont even have cricket, why would they promote a cricket series in australia in the US (STUPID ARGUMENT THAT WE WERE HIDING IT). FFS get a brain. How many times do you have to be told they are not acting wild. Nobody in Australia sees them as wild (or even black but rather West Indian).

  • @ninjachick81 I do not seem them an uncivilized people. You do, well at least that is how it is portrayed in the ad. Oh and you do not have to worry about my ignorance. I would not want to go to a country where blackface, calling blacks monkeys on TV and various of other things is accepted by everyone and no one stand up against it.

  • @InMyNightSky I never saw them as uncivilized the TYT people are saying that, not Aussies. I've never heard anyone called blacks monkeys on TV and FYI the guys who did the blackface thing are actually Indian not white (and we did think that was racist - hey hey is a lame old show that failed at a comeback attempt).

  • @ninjachick81 There is a lot of racism in America but at least people stand up against it here and try our very best to fight it. Blacks and whites united. In Australia no one seems to care about it.

  • @InMyNightSky People stand up here when there is real racism. This is not.

  • @InMyNightSky you just have no clue do you?

  • @Hem3fiction I have a clue. The ad is racist. End of story.

  • @InMyNightSky If you think people wearing collared shirts enjoying the game and having fun is uncivilised... you have need to sort out some control issues. You don't just assume that we just simply accept blackface, I wouldn't go as far a to call it racist but it was politically incorrect because i don't think a race was portrayed better than another but i see why people got furious about it. But this commercial has taken the topic too far. No one in Australia ever uses monkey as a racial slang.

  • @Hem3fiction exactly if we were to call a person a monkey it would be because they are acting like an idiot, wouldn't have anything to do with race we'd use it for white, black, asian... alike. Another time we might use the word monkey would be for kids or like to climb.

  • @InMyNightSky the ad is not racist. End of story.

  • The Young Turks calls out Australians on their racist ad. Now the Australians are mad. Get over it. Racism is not something wanted WORLDWIDE.

  • @InMyNightSky Racisim is worldwide and it does exist in Australia just like it exists in your country but Australians in general are not racist like these idiots make us out to be and the ad is NOT RACIST. ONLY RACIST PEOPLE SEE IT THAT WAY!!!!

  • @ninjachick81 Throwing chicken at a bunch of black people is not racist. 1 white person an dozens of black people. OMG black people are acting wild and crazy give them some chicken to calm down. The ad is racist and your mad because TYT actually said something about it instead of ignoring it. That must be what they do in your country, Ignore racism.

  • He gives them chicken to calm down not because their black, but because their people. Political Correctness in America drives me crazy... And yes Australians act like this in Cricket as well!

  • ... Was their one other side of the argument in this video?

  • honestly cant believe how fuckign ignorant u guys are

  • The guy is good. He understands the ad perfectly. The girl is not. Views something as racist when at core its not.

  • The ad is racist.

  • @InMyNightSky Read the god damn top comment made by lumbanator. It will explain everything to you so you can finally shut up.

  • @InMyNightSky nope... WRONG! try again!

  • We don't have to see SHIT. American don't have any power over here. We don't have to research American racism, every time we make an Add.

  • Shrimp on the Barbie. lol FAIL! Australians don't even have shrimp they are called prawns you wanker.

  • @78just1n LOL. No kidding, mate i nearly pissed myself when i read that.

  • Shrimp? Never heard of it...

  • Comment removed

  • group of blacks -> racism

    group of whites -> nothing

    wtf???

  • @Hyyra Look at what whites have done to blacks. Actually look at what white people have done to every single fucking minority group. Hispanics, Asians, Indians and Africans. They stole the Indians land. They killed, beaten and enslaved a whole fucking race.

  • If the situation was reversed and you had a lone Windies fan handing out chicken to a crowed of Aussie fans you idiots would still think it was racist because a black guy is handing out fried chicken. West Indians are NOT African American. Go and learn about the two cultures before commenting on a situation you know nothing about. The ad was promoting cricket, both the Windies and Australia have a great and FRIENDLY cricket rivalry.

  • Usuak, this blokes link to Turkey are very poor indeed. I bet I can speak more Turkish, he wouldn't know what an Anzac is, bred in the USA clinging on to a Islamic link. A poor effort from a wannabe politician that failed miserably. Merhaba arkadas

  • I'm a Turkish Australian, so I became interested what I thought was a turkish american news service on youtube and started to watch. And I'm ashamed to label Cenk as Turkish, this guy is a complete racist dickhead who should go jump off a cliff. I'm glad that they've mingled and put an armenian up with a turk to discuss current affairs. But their arrogant and racist attitude towards Australia in this instance is a complete disgrace, outlines their ignorance. Never watching this garbage again.

  • KFC Australia have separate marketing to KFC USA, you guys are IDIOTS.... It wasn't run in America because its about the Cricket sponsorship. The only sterotype in this ad is that Windies cricket hypo. But so are Aussie, Pommy, Indian fans. The Aussie guy is quiet because he's in the wrong stand. KFC Australia has a long standing relationship with cricket in Australia

  • i was wondering why australians would be so defensive and defend something some random multi-national corporation puts out, but then i remembered australias stance on immigration and how they treat asylum seekers, and it all made sense. TYT isn't saying australia as a country is racist, but hey, if the shoe fits.....

  • if your the one that gets offended here, you maim, are the racist!

  • So we should obviously do everything on TV to conform to American standards, because they obviously treat people with coloured skin differently over there? Wow really.. just wow.. sorry for treating everyone equally, like most modern societies are.

  • D; The reason the white man is sitting quietly and why it would be an uncomfortable situation is because he's supporting the other team, and he's sitting in the wrong section. If he got up and started yelling aussie aussie aussie, then there would probably be some trouble! If another countries team was playing say from England or whatever then it would have been the same and never thought to be racist at all. -_- ffs.

  • Well Australia is a shithole anyway. Are they still under the Queen`s protection?.....

  • @ThreeLions89 nope... you are 100 years behind... literally 100 years behind

  • Austrialian? What? The only australians I`d recognize are the aboriginals.... all the others are just trashy invaders.

  • The first time i saw this ad i knew it would cause controversy in America. The key point is KFC is a US company and Blacks eating Fried Chicken is an American stereotype. If this ad was made by an Australian company i'd tell these sanctimonious Yanks to piss off. Since when did the US become custodians of the worlds moral conscience ?

Racism is everywhere, It's just perceived differently by different cultures.

Also i suggest you clean up the mess in your own backyard before preach to others !

  • Maybe you should worry about the US's problems instead of policing tounge-in-cheek junk food advertising designed to be shown in another culture. Such as soldiers pissing on Taliban corpses, Guantanamo Bay, your gun culture, need I go on?... We might (almost) speak the same language, but that does not mean we have the same culture. We have racism in Australia to be sure, but this is not an example of it. Commentate on what you know something about, I'm assuming there is something...

  • Why can't you tools just admit you got it wrong? You really are sick fucks.

  • So you can't advertise fried chicken with a black person in it! There was a series of these adds (which tyt seemed to have missed), which all had different scenarios. The product "crowd pleaser" did what it's name says it would do in each advert. Nothing more than a poor slur.

  • Wow, you are really dealing with some serious journalistic topics here, you fucking talking heads

  • their just jelous cause we Australians have sexy accents!

  • Why do North Americans think the world revolves around them and their stereotypes? The West Indies were touring. That is how cricket fans behave. A good product is said to calm them down so the man felt a part of them and didn't feel left out. The good product happened to be fried chicken.

  • but as a european i say

    australia 100 - 0 USA

  • FUCK USA (i watched 5secs of this vid)

  • @Hyyra

Eh fuck you man, this is one group of people, they don't represent the whole USA.

I;m American, and I know the ad isn't racist.

  • TRAVEL TRAVEL TRAVEL You need to broaden your narrow mind.

  • Typical Yanks you really did not do your research. For starters Aussies Don't say "Shrimp" - That was for the American Market. IT WASN'T MADE FOR YOU YANKS. Why do the Americans think everything revolves around them? Race was invented by America to justify slavery. I advice TYT to travel a bit more.

  • its only because the windies were touring at that time. if it was england or india, it would of been the same ad. its the fact that hes in the middle of the opposing bay, not that he was trying to be civilized

a group of white aussies would be way more 'unruley' than that: bay 13 for example.

this is why tyt a really really bad, biased news source.

  • Christ, I'm sad that I'm American. This bitch is one stupid fucker. The commercial is fine, people take racism too fucking far. Drop it. Who the fuck are these guys, they're the worst reporters ever.

  • Why do americans think that their shitty culture applies over the entire world? We DONT GIVE A SHIT if your offended. The add wasnt intended for you, you dont understand because your culturally and geographically retarded, so shut up. and fuck RIGHT OFF. your so stupid it hurts.

  • i think TYT are racists for saying becouse people have the same skin colour that means there from the same background, west indies are NOT african american!!!!!

  • they are sooooo stupid

they still took the add out of context

  • yano what would've been a better version is if the crowd were all sad/depressed then given the chicken by a black or white guy (just someone who supports west indies also) and then they cheer up, start playing the music etc. and then the guy goes "too easy" and the ad goes "kfc - crowd pleaser". It would make sense, involve cricket, the West Indies cricket team etc. would be good.

  • show me one thing that doesn't offend americans.

  • "Now call me crazy, but that doesn't trigger some red flag." - Why? Is it inherintly racist to offer food - happens to be fried chicken, to the people around you? And IT IS NOT THE POINT that it is offinsive in the US - the fact that it can be seen as offensive SHOULD BE an offence to those who are viewing the ad WITHOUT PREDUDICE. I really do not get how it benefits ANYONE to project the AMERICAN MANUFACTURED RACIAL STEREOTYPES onto the rest of the UNINFECTED world. NOT RACIST, just an ad FFS.

  • I used to like this channel until I watched these series of video's. I find them to be pretty practical for the most part but this liberalism gone wild!

It's called the "Crowd Pleaser" for starters, they have never been to an international cricket game and no knowledge of what is racist in Australia. Also corporations do not make decisions on ads based on what people in another country might have a problem with on the off chance that they saw it.

    GET OVER YOURSELVES

  • But it's a white guy and a mexican girl commenting on this.

  • and who cares about this it's a fucking funny ad :D

  • i'm all white and i would have eating the chicken aswell :D i only think it's only in america you find this offensive it's a fucking commercial get over this black vs white shit -.-'

  • Idiot Americans.

  • Former Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke acting like a typical Aussie at the cricket. India are currently touring. No racism here, just people having fun at the cricket.

    /watch?v=o5mBShX9fdU

  • Blacks like chicken. So what? Fawkin n1gg3rza

  • Another example of American ignorance. They just think the whole world revolved around them. This was a TV commercial that related to cricketing culture, aimed at Australians. This race had nothing to do with race whatsoever. Next time actually actually know what you are speaking about before you go and make complete fools of yourselves. You are just plain ignorant.

  • Great, now I'm hungry.

  • I get that you guys don't think that Australians as a whole are racist because of this ad, but Australians did make this ad. And it is a known fact that Aussies are more conservative at cricket games than most other teams, I remember the British chant of, "can you hear the aussies sing? no sir, no sir." So finding yourself in the middle of the W. Indies doing their thing would make anyone nervous, I do wish it was the balmy army instead, I noticed that all you can see is the colour of the skin

  • There are some points that need to be mentioned here

    1. KFC has been a major sponsor of the cricket for years here in Australia; hence the ad

    2. The West Indies Cricket team was touring that year; hence their depiction

    3. This has nothing to do with racial stereotypes as black people eating fried chicken in Australia isn't a stereotype at all

    4. This is pretty normal behaviour at a cricket match

    5. Race has nothing to do with the ad; however, I conceed that North Americans would see it this way.

  • @lumbanator i only found out that chicken n black people is a stereotype b/c of the hysteria with this ad. but they dont put the ad into context.

  • these people cant see past the ,,american perspective"

  • The ad is rasict and kfc is end of story . are people that stupid, racist and blind

  • @TRicKxShotxHD explain how it is racist, because i really don't see racism in this add

  • @Hem3fiction because the sterotype of black people love chicken from kfc so there saying when you have chicken you can take the chicken and calm black people . and that sterotype is in australia so i should write that in a A4 sheet iTS RASICT AND SMACK IT ON AUSTRALIA FACE YOU FUCKING RASICTS CUNT . (RiD)

  • @TRicKxShotxHD i would like to point out that Australia has no stereotype that black people like chicken, that is an American stereotype (and i think Canada knows about it too but that's it). I found out about it by coming onto these web pages recently.

These are not the blacks you're thinking of, they're West Indian from a cricket match, it was aired during the West Indies and Australian cricket test match.

So how is this commercial racist?

  • @TRicKxShotxHD (continued) if you're thinking we have a chicken stereotype because of the user "SmurffsUp" he had his account banned for trolling and spreading incorrect messages and thumbing his own content up, he is an American not Australian.

  • @Hem3fiction My sister friend lives in australia i stayed with hear for a year . i went to school there i found everyone so rasict to black people im not black . but ive stucken up for loads of people that had been offended by other people . My brother got charged with assault with a deadly weapon but he could of been sent to 18 months but the other guy was being rasict and provoced him so he got a warning so if my brother got free of 18 mnths why is this add not taken down RASICT

  • @TRicKxShotxHD I guess i haven't seen the racism for myself because i have grown up in an extremely multicultural tolerant suburb. But i don't know.

  • omg the ad is about being surrounded by people that are fans of the other team that are winning. Go fuck yourself dumbass americans.

  • so let me get their point straight. Everytime something is aired, printed, spoken, ect. anywhere in the world, people must consider how Americans might feel about it? FFS talk about self centred. And you wonder where the stereotypes about Americans form from. You think the Australian branch of KFC is staffed by all Americans, or that the company that made the add where American? This add was a part of a series of adds made by KFC AUSTRALIA for the Cricket World Cup 2007 IN the West Indies.

  • FUCK AUSTRALIANS

  • @agambleiii go fuck yourself cunt

  • why would you hate on australia O_O if you gotta hate on something, hate on the middle east.. fucking muslims

  • Typical American response from TYT: America is the world and nothing else matters...The advertisement has an absolute and completely different meaning here in AUS but that's of no consequence because TYT is American and therefore is unaware of any other country...How's that debt going?

  • Errrr - I dont see how that is racist? It wasnt the fact he was in a crowd with a lot of Black men, it was the fact he was the only Australian cricket supporter, in a crowd full of South African supporters. Fuck.

  • @xXAustralianzOwnXx Those that think it was racist have to put it into context with the other ads in that series. They were all similar in that there would be one guy in an uncomfortable situation (from memory, in one of them he was meeting his girlfriends parents and it wasn't going well, so he gave them some KFC to settle things down), in this one it was an Australian supporter at the cricket in the middle of those supporting the West Indies, so he did the same. Fuck indeed

  • Here is the funny thing. In australia a shrimp is a short person. In america, a shrimp is a prawn. And for the record, i have never seen a prawn at a bbq.

The USA knowledge of other countries is as bad as it gets. Which is why you put your foot in your mouths with the ad assessment, which accused the Aussies of racism. Only americans think 'black people' eat chicken, or need calming down. Because they are racist. Neither of those things have any meaning in this ad, when context is known.

  • why is there different standards for different cultures. Please look into how trinidad and tobago and jamaca treats homosexuals then tell me the ad is offensive. if an ad that offends another countries values is the worst thing you can pick on then were doing ok.

  • west indies fans do tend to act like that thats their culture. White australains do tend to be more civilised lets not forget how alot of countries in the caribbian treat homosexuals.

  • its not racist. these guys arent reporters, theyre idiots.

  • I don't get this at all. It was an American CEO who decided to do it. It's an American who pushes racial stereotypes. Why do you Australians try to excuse that?

  • @backtonormalful that was so ignorant it made my head hurt this ad was made by KFC Australia (locally owned) to make an ad for the Australian demographic using a sport (cricket) to portray a potentially awkward situation in this case it being surrounded by opposition supporters in another ad that was made it was the in-laws in another one he bribes the security with chicken so he can sit on the other side o the fence

  • @irishgodfatherchris KFC Australia is not locally owned. Please educate yourself.

  • @backtonormalful KFC Australia is owned locally (foreign ownership is illegal here) as someone who had to study this rubbish believe me, their headquarters are in New South Wales and Queensland's KFC's are owned by a single businessman

  • @irishgodfatherchris Exactly. We were just about to play the West Indies in a cricket series and that is why they were the ones portrayed in the ad. If we were about to play England it would have been an Aussie in the middle of a boistrous English crowd and he would have given them the KFC to settle things down. Anyone who sees this as a "black v white" thing are being far more racist/discriminatory than those who created the ad.

  • that was clearly racist but not as racist as the kfc obama commercial - now that was comedy :D

  • everyone is racist people are morons its impossible to be bi-partisan as a human u can pretend that u are not but then ur just a lair so your a lair aka TYT or u admit ur racist

  • @gangstafuhrer could you possibly make yourself sound like any more of a moron on a web forum

  • WTF AUSTRALIA ISNT KFC

  • @NevaSayNoToPanda Just you know whyyy... just you know whyyy... why you and i... why you and i....

  • I'm from Australia and the fried chicken stereotype is actually really popular here too (especially with teenagers). We have a lot of racists here so I don't know why any Australian would even deny that. As the video states, just because there's a few racists does not mean the WHOLE of Australia is racist. And if you're crying and getting hurt by the fact they are saying the ad was racist then you're probably a racist.

  • @SmurffsUp "I'm from Australia and the fried chicken stereotype is actually really popular here too" ??? WTF, so your speaking on belhalf of on entire country on something that you THINK, because its definatly not a fact, your school or your circle of friends or whoever do not resemble what Australia thinks and knows about American stereotypes. Your either young immature and clueless, trolling for reactions, or just stupid. Because you know as bout as much as TYT's on this subject.

  • @ELseizure You're saying TYT is wrong? So explain what they said on the video? Why would they not want Americans to see the KFC ad? BECAUSE THEY KNOW IT'S OFFENSIVE. Actually it is a fact that the stereotype is popular here. Not just with "my circle of friends or my school". There are A LOT of racists here compared to other countries. You probably haven't even been outside of Australia to comment on the issue. Personal attacks/insults does not make you right.

  • @SmurffsUp Fair call on the personal attacks, wich i take back. But i didnt say a word about what TYT's said in this video, i didnt even mention it. Re-read and you will see that. Your claiming that the African-American and fried chicken stereotype is actually "really popular" in Australia, wich is not true. Its just your opinion. Saying its popular here cause thats what you think does not make you right.. And yes i have been outside of Aus, England, Europe, America, Canada and more

  • @ELseizure "... or just stupid. Because you know as bout as much as TYT's on this subject.". If you say I'm wrong then that's what you're implying when you say I know just as much as TYT. And it's not just my opinion. From what I've seen in the media, social network and in real life, I KNOW that stereotype is not unknown here in Australia. Even if it's not popular here, KFC still knew that this ad was offensive hence their need to not let American viewers see it.

  • @SmurffsUp wtf are you talking about? Before i saw this page on youtube i had no idea about the chicken stereotype and none of my friends did. Clearly you aren't Australian.

But yes true that, Australians do have a very small population of racists like every country.

  • @Hem3fiction No I am Australian but I'm not as patriotic as you. I know this country has flaws and I can admit that. But you're probably one of those hard out Aussies who think this is a perfect country. And seeing your other comments, it seems as though you're defending Australia a lot in other videos. IF Australia is as great as you say it is, you don't need to go on EVERY single video on Youtube and argue with everyone that Australia is not racist.

  • @SmurffsUp i say once again. Wtf are you talking about? Where did this patriotic shit come from? Australians don't use that word. I'm not saying you're not Australian as a metaphor, i know you are not Australian and i know you live in another country. You're probably American because they use that word.

There is something wrong with you, arguing stuff i didn't even say. Are you telling me i can't go into videos and tell people we don't have a chicken stereotype? Is there a rule?

  • @SmurffsUp true, but every Country has flaws with Racism not Just one.

  • @SmurffsUp <---- this guy had his account was closed for good reasons

  • @SmurffsUp Well I was born and raised here in Australia (I'm now 32) and the first time I heard about this fried chicken stereotype was when this uproar about this ad started. When I first heard that there was any controversy I was wondering what the hell for and so did most here.

We're about as multicultural as any country on the planet, but with all those cultures mixed in together, there are bound to be problems from time to time, but it's far from a big issue.

  • we didnt want americans to see it because we didnt want your bitching. if you find it uncomfortable try this amazing new thing, IGNORE IT MOTHER FUCKERS. dont watch it, it is a west indies thing, has no fucken affiliation with the US. stop thinking all black people are african-american because their not, their fucking african.

  • @JamesGraysStudio You seem to be describing conservatives rather than the U.S. as a whole.

  • @mimejunyer your right i deleted my comments coz they sounded anti american, i was just in a mood :P but yeah americans are pretty cool and i wouldn't dare assume them to be anything like the media protrays them to be. This KFC stereo type is just so stupid it pissed me off haha

  • American stereotypes don't apply in Australia. Yanks need to learn to mind their own business, they almost think they are the only country in the world. Complain about racism yet try to judge cultures by American standards??

  • that bitch is hot

  • @WeLikeDanceMusic If youre into cross-eyed, big-nosed cunts.

  • @JawsJaws i wanna lick the fuck out of that big-nosed cunt, i bet she tastes like cheese

  • this video has equal likes and dislikes..

  • Oh you never said the ad was "racist".

(Post the video at "racist australian ad").

  • Sorry TYT apparently the West Indian team should be considered African American and suspected to YOUR discourse.

Also I love how you covered yourselves by playing AFRICAN music as an implication of a message from AUSTRALIANS (I would imagine you were implying we are all tribal people - from Africa.

You are as much journalists as donkeys are race horses.

Hence you are on youtube - not television....

  • 1996 likes, 1996 dislikes...My vote does matter!

  • "What do you say to that, Mr. Australia?". We all have our own views and with the add target to Australiams, in my opinion it doesn't seem racist.

While it may seem racist to other people, I would like to say that when they mention "Jamaica, West Indies, Africa", then "I don't care, but when a white man gives a group of black people chicken to calm them down . . . I consider that racist". My view to that, it seemed that you are calling them all Black, and I consider that racist.

  • shes pretty much saying all black people are the same race and every black person will be offended by this and we should all be angry about some stupid american stereotype... can someone tell me whats wrong with fried chicken and black people i don't understand? everyone likes fried chicken can someone tell me what the problem is?

  • i just made the likes exact with the dislikes , i deserve sum for that no so!?

  • Cenk / Ana - it took you 9:03 of back-pedalling weasel-wording to skirt the friggin obvious. Just because the US exports it's brain dead culture for great profit you make the mistake of thinking that we also take your arse-backwards values as a package deal. Believe me, we look elsewhere for guidance on values such as tolerance, equality, and harmony in society. And Cenk - shove that "shrimp" up your urethra for me. Nice and fucking high.

  • It's funny how such "Anti-Racist" people are so racially cautious to detect Racism in everything they see. Idiots, like on TYT, are perfect examples of why racism is so amplified and lives on in the states.

No one cares about your perspective Cenk. Stop speaking on behalf of America. It's Australian, therefore it's their problem. If they're ok with it; their problem again. Stereotyping and racism are different things. Get a life. I don't see any black Australian feed back here do I?

  • @tn13 I think i should weigh in on this old topic because I am a Trinidadian and the black persons depicted in the video are Caribbean people obviously supporting the West Indies cricket team (team made up of several c'bean islands), and from my point of view as not even being part of the ameican stereo type it seems a bit trashy to show a white man calming me an my brethrens down with some kfc and disclaiming "its so easy" ..some things are just in appropriate

  • @shaolinXtreme "too easy" is a slang term here which can be used to mean a whole reange of things its like Geordies with their term "why aye"

  • @shaolinXtreme Dude you must remember the history of the rivalry that existed between the Windies and Australia when the one day format of the game was dominated by you guys. This ad was not about race, it was indicating the frustration felt when you are stuck in a Windies crowd when your team is losing and the music and the rhythm begin to get under your skin (we're still haunted by the memory of King Viv over here). That is the ads angle. Maybe you've forgotten the lasting effect of his legacy

  • @TheBicusnicus1 I haven't forgotten his legacy nor the glory days of the WI pace attack, however i will say that given your explanation from the aussie stand point i can understand the true meaning of the ad, it just doesn't translate well outside of Australia, thanks for the explanation, our discussion should be the be all and end all of this argument since I am West Indian and youre Australian and we have cleared this up.

  • @shaolinXtreme Peace brother. Hope you're having a mad night, and may you and your brethren always find yourselves welcome and respected in Australia. :)

  • And it was a white guy but it wasn't an American passing out fried Chicken. Congrats on being racist TYT. Race is the only thing that matters, right? Get over it! lol

  • Black people eating fried chicken may be an American stereotype, but it's not one I notice here in Canada. Do you think the black people in the commercial(most likely not American) generally eat fried chicken?

  • The ad is made by an American company fully aware of the stereotype, so it's perfectly understandable to question its content a bit. Not saying that the company is racist (I wouldn't go that far), but it's pretty telling that they said they didn't want Americans to see the ad.

  • @nothlithawk777 What's the name of the advertising firm responsible? By the way I am seriously asking that question for my own information as I really do not want to eat my hat.

  • @TheBicusnicus1 I don't know the answer to that. But regardless of who the advertising firm, there has to be some sort of oversight from the bigger-ups, doesn't there?

  • @nothlithawk777 And if none of the bigger-ups were from the states? You know not everything is cleared by corporate US right? Of which I'm glad, as if it were to be cleared through the US it would negate diversity of ideas and lead to the homogenisation of global culture through the prism of the American experience. I'm still unclear as to the nature of the history of fried chicken and African/Americans or how it came to be derogatory, but am willing to accept that it must've been really bad.

  • @TheBicusnicus1 It's not that derogatory within the African-American community, but cultural parodies often portray it from a superior distance. It's "common" (in the vulgar sense) to like fried chicken. And the way this ad portrays that stereotype ( even if not "through the prism of the American experience" ha) seems very condescending in my opinion. Google "history of fried chicken and African Americans" and a few interesting articles pop up about why this stereotype can be a problem.

  • @nothlithawk777 If we can be used to foster a joint condemnation that brings you guys together that's cool. Just don't go thinking that we were all laughing at African/Americans through this ad. as it wasn't the case at all. Peace. :)

  • ...checking. Were the execs who put together the advertisement from the US? Were the people from KFC's marketing arm, who gave approval for the advertisement actually from the US? If you check that and they weren't are you prepared to apologise for the level of hubris displayed to make yourselves look clever? By the way I am generally a huge fan of everything TYT do, but you were way off the mark on this one. If the execs behind the advertisement were from the US I'll eat my hat.

  • What is with the condescension from TYT. Am I being unreasonable in taking offence to that? The advertisement resonated with a fan being stuck in a large crowd of people supporting the other team that were playing Australia in that series. The advertisement was showing that the meal deal that KFC were offering could serve a huge amount of people. The situation allowed them the medium to show that. If you want to make a statement like that don't be like FOX and just make it without fact...

  • "Did Australian's think maybe this is racist to Americans"......Why would we? Company's make commercials to sell products in different countries. America needs to realise that there are other countries with other cultures. GROW UP AMERICA!

  • LMAO @ that commercial. Caught me off guard. "Too easy." LOL.

And, the Aussie's are like, "What? What did we say, mate?"

  • In a nutshell: It is you Americans who are EXTREMELY INSULTING and need to pull your heads in. You disgust me pushing your own racial neuroses onto people from other countries. All I see in this video are absolute morons who view the rest of the world through the lense of American racist ideas.

  • Notice the comment in this video, "from the American perspective"?

Lets make something perfectly clear: Your RACIST perspective is IRRELEVANT to this ad.

All we see in this video is extremely insulting Americans imposing their own racial stereotypes on people from other countries where such a stereotype DOES NOT EXIST.

  • I am the only American that stands with Australia in this issue?

  • 1988 likes 1988 dilikes!

  • This hypocrite say's ''put another shrimp on the barbie, by the way we say pawns so I don't know how that came about. & play's some jungle music. This guy should just drink some Chesse out of Shaving Cream can, great American invention & cheeeeww soooome tabacoooo. fat cunt. '

  • @StealthyTheNinja It's still an awesome place. That barrier reef and that awesome weather. The ad isn't that racist anyway, it's not for the US and it's only the US that has the stereotype, it's kinda funny

  • omg that commercial is the most racist i've ever seen

    (here come the hate comments)

  • Who else wants to just punch these dumb people in the face?
