I love my stonebridge. It's all a matter of taste but for my money there's not a mass produced taylor on the market that can come anywhere close to it. Some of the R. Taylors come close but they'll run ya 10 grand. And to be honest if Im spending that kind of cash, im not reaching for a taylor of anykind. At that point im headed towards a Santa Cruz, Lowden, Bouregard.
One of the best sounding guitars I ever played was a beat up, cracked and split 1939 Kalamazoo archtop that had the greatest bass sustain of any guitar I've ever played no matter what they cost. Top notes were spot on too and rang fine and true.
just played a stonebridge yesterday in a guitar shop and the sound is just phenomenal ive played taylors for £2500 and this was £600 and like tom said the taylors cant touch it
I agree with thom. I have personally owned countless guitars eg Taylor and Martin included. The Stonebridge beats both hands down in terms of value for money. For example i own a Taylor 914CE which cost considerably more than the Stonebridge yet when i tried the Stonebridge gs23cr i found that it sounded a far superior instrument. On a sad note the Gs23cr i have just bought arrived in pieces due to damage while in transit.Awaiting replacement.Almost 6 weeks since purchase.Slightly frustrating :o(
I hope to get one of these soon! I hope to get a slightly customized (aesthetics) version of this one. I'm pretty sure Furch/Stonebridge is absolutely unbeatable at this very price point!
I used to own a Taylor, I loved it. The balance and neck I was way partial to it. I bought a Stonebridge D33 and was really anxious to bring it home to compare it to my Taylor. Honestly, the Taylor sounded pretty cheap. Kind of like a guitar you would buy at Wal-Mart.
Thom, I heard my first Chet Atkins LP back in the early '60s and have been hopelessly fascinated with finger style guitar playing from then on. I love listening to you simply because your timing when you play makes the tune you're playing come alive to my old ears. Some are musical mechanics, You're an artist. I wish i knew what tune you are playing in this video though. Thanks for the best music.
Thom -I really love your playing and have lots of your music. I have also seen you play live here in Ireland. You are a great entertainer and musician and one of my all time favourites along with "pinofluvius" on youtube. Like you he plays his own arrangement of dueling banjos yet it is very different and like yours truly wonderful. His "Whiter Shade of Pale" actually makes me cry with its beauty and feeling. He conveys so much feeling and joy in his playing and his melodies. A rare talent.
Thats awesome, it has sort of a twangy feel. I really want a new acoustic and I think stonebridge sounds great. Now I'm just wondering... Spruce or Cedar top?
get both, i will. they're reasonably cheap. i got mine with cedar top in their store in brno, chech republic, and i'm thinking about getting another with spruce top when i go there, i'm gonna sell my guild and buy furch (stonebridge). i'm totally in love with these guitars. in their store you can choose among 50 models, and it's trying them all.
Yeah the Furchs in the chech rep. are slightly cheaper than the stonebridges here in Canada. The 25SR is about $2200, which isn't bad considering taylors and martins cost at least double for the same quality. Moze sobie kupie taniej jak polece do polski w przyszlym roku ;)
It's always the player and good fresh quality strings that makes a guitar sing , without that it's just kindlin'. Great souding guitar though, don't get me wrong. You can't find anybody better to play it, this guy is a freek'n mechanic. He puts on a clonic every time he plays.
I know exactly what I'm talking about.. We sat in a guitar room where I first played the Stonebridge. It sells for about $2400 or $2500. We started comparing it against Taylors. We didn't find a Taylor that could kick its ass until the Taylor's price was around eight or nine thousand dollars.. Is that clearer for you?

i found guitar player they alwasy brag about their guitars..."i've never played anything better than this"
whatever! ...a 9 thousand taylor isnt much better a taylor 914ce(4k)...and a taylor 914 isnt much better than taylor 414ce...they just sound different. comparing the volume of the guitar and the playability ..its almost the same...
bresh.. just keep bragg about your guitar...you know in your heart..its not that much better..
Taylor's guitars are always better when they get more expensive, obviously, you get what you pay for right? I Like the sound of this particular Stonebridge, although "youtube" doesn't do it justice. It looks alot like a Taylor anyway. Martin has them all beat however, if you can afford them.
He is right - I used to own a Taylor. I now own the Stonebridge D33 - $3000 Taylors don't touch it. I am working on selling my Tom Anderson Crowdster to get another Stonebridge.

It is Furch guitar from Czech Republic.
It is rebranded Stronebridge dur to the possible ambarassing Furch ortography.

I agree with Thom Bresh. Plugged in it sounds close to the Taylor that Doyle Dykes uses.

but thats master grade brazilian rosewood
he shouldnt have compared the price on brazillian rosewood to his india rosewood
coz we all know braz rosewood is expansive mainly because of its quantity not because bob taylor wants to charge us that much

an expensive guitar does not make a better player AND I have heard laminated guitars that will stomp a Taylor that costs 3 grand.
