when i was in audio engineering school, we all got there on the first day and gathered that night at a house, and had to put a movie in , it ended up being american beauty. after we all agreed on the movie, we all realized we all loved the score. now that i look back, this score has effected me in a profound way.

@Lone06 Its actually more of a universal message of how middle class people arent as well off as the perceptions they give off and the flaws with aiming to be happy through material wealth. Its a message for the western world really.Not to say that all middle class people aint happy. Its just saying that, for instance, having a nice house in a nice neighbourhood does look good but could have an eggshell marriage and unhappy kids.

I was just explaining to a friend where the weird guy with the camera and the bag came from, and wanted him to hear this music since there was something similar in that movie. Well for the hard of thinking, secular spirituality is the form of free thinking agnostic humanitarianism which is not associated with any particular religion. Secularism is not ANTI spiritual it is just opposed to the conditning processes used by most religions. As to the film itself, the central protagonist undergoes a form of spiritual rebirth but it is SECULAR in the sense that he is not RELIGIOUS in the traditional manner. It's quite simple really.

From what i know of Dick Dawkins he is not agnostic but an atheist. He is also quite dogmatic in his approach to science. I suppose you could call him a material fundamentalist. The scientific method is to empirically and without prejudice collect information. Unfortunately Dawkins seems quite certain already about what is true and what is not true. In that sense he reminds me of the Spanish inquisition, and to suggest the possibility of a God would be heresy in his eyes. Are you a fan of his?
