I loved the brilliant sound of the horns in the song "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" from 1982. I loved the clarity of the song; and to wit, the song was portraying separation ... and eventual togetherness. A Brilliant 12!!
The background harmonies sound so much richer on LP than they do on the remastered CD versions...thank you for sharing the original, for those Chicago fans born in the 1980s.
Thanks for posting the whole song (Get Away). I've only heard the whole version played on the radio just once. It was around 1996 and I was driving on a freeway in Houston and was thinking, "Hmm..that's a part of this song I've never heard before," as in typical Chicago fashion, they cranked it up a notch and went into a nice jam session at the end. Many of their songs did just that (Call on Me, Feeling Stronger Every Day, Beginnings). They clearly had a lot of fun recording and rockin out.
Billboard's #10 song of '82. Chicago hit #1 pop, and AC, in Billboard. Too bad Peter Cetera doesn't WANNA come back to the group. I'd pay big money to see that, right, gang? God bless!
How satisfying is that? Hard to Say I'm Sorry and Get Away, the best blending of pop ballad and rock song since We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions. Thanks for uploading the whole version.
