  • I go to Vee Arnis Jujitsu! Professor David works there!

  • Outstanding instruction. Explains the purpose for every movement. He keeps it real!

  • Brilliant...'He Didn't Let Go...He Saved Himself Some Pain'!

  • GUMBY OWNS!

  • I NEED to go back....

  • lol unless your gumby.

  • Shooting a bystander: You take what you can get in a street fight... Sucks but life sucks when you have a gun in your face. Plus, most "robbers" will not attack you when there is a lot of people around.

  • top class psychological teaching

  • Also be kinda deaf, but... deaf is better than dead, huh ?

  • once you pull the gun up you pull it forward and down so the line of fire is on him and takes the gun away very quickly

  • This guy's awesome

  • man dis guy give me so much ansrz thnx bro for uploadn this awsm video

  • ya gotta admit...sheenan david james is a really entertaining guy to watch...

  • this guy has some really good points

  • My Boss trains with the Professor and loves him to death even tho' he has a TKD BB and Jiu-jitsu BB...Vee Arnis is the truth to save your life.

  • Man i wish you list anytime that your doing a seminer on that.Me and about 5 of my guys would love to be there.

  • Ten years a medic in the streets, four years of bouncing, a decade of amateur boxing, wrestling, a BB in Kempo, a brown in judo, year and half of BJJ, and I've trained in Kali, JKD, Savate, and Muay Thai.

And I must say, this is some first rate disarms. Love Vee Jitsu.

  • I love this guy

  • I do not think Professor James would give you a chance to draw your gun before he would either take it away from you or shoot you with his own.

  • well he live in brooklyn new york go try it.

  • or a simplest one if you know krav we push the arm to the side and grab the gun by twisting it to the side.

one hand push the arm. we have to step aside and take the gun at the same time.

But this must be very quick reactions.

What I mean is why you let the guy still have the weapon? because like you said if he pull the gun on you it means he wants something from you so this is the last chance to disarm the guy

  • i m sorry about the comment i didn t see the rest of the video :)

  • Hi

I m a Krav Maga student of Rick Side

    ( I was doing Karate)

This is a great technique but you don t have any control over the guy.

In krav we put our hands up to show the criminal that we are scare as soon as possible we have 2 options push the arm up by grabbing the gun and twist directly up at the same time with a kick ( soory for my english by the way) It s gonna stab his finger.

  • You know...... most instructors will tell you not to use these techniques unless there is NO other way to escape from danger. So, don't try to be hero.... just give your money to the nice little robber and be on your way.

Though, common sense should tell you that being a hero is a bad idea.

  • With all due respect...what if you do not have any money to give to the nice little robber?

  • he'll leave.....hopefully lol

  • Prof. David how are you? this is Grand master Tony Mayo. great work as always.

  • I like the way you teach. Make it plain. Thank you.

  • I've been in a seminar from Pro David James and he's the real deal! This is real VEE-ARNIS JITSU!!! OSS!

  • TMA's Rock!

  • Hopefully, you will be robbed by an idiot who is going to do what you train in your class.

Chances are, he will have it pointed center mass and be standing back a foot at least.

The cash in your wallet isnt even worth the chance.Give it to him. Then pull out your 40 S&W out of your ankle holster and pop in in the back as he runs away and then grab your wallet and whatever he has on him.

You sure your from the streets of NYC?

  • Most criminals are idiots.

  • overall i agree, just give em your wallet. i think if they wanted to kill you and rob you, they would do just that. why bother asking you for your wallet? most people don't carry guns where i'm from though, and shooting someone in the back seems like a good way to go to prison. lol ...i dont know how i feel about robbing the robber though. then you're the robber.

  • I feel that your hands have to move a greater distance than necessary. If you have your hands beside your head in a "hands-up" manner, you not only appear compliant and submissive, but have also placed your hands within very close striking range to the pistol - thus reducing the time taken to strike. I would also be careful of raising your voice in that split second before you make your move - it could be a giveaway. Thanks for the video. It's great.

  • but dont raise your hands until your attacker tells you to. or he may think you're up to something. also you should be aware of the muzzle blast, hot gasses escape and explode out of the barrel in all directions when the gun is fired. better than getting shot but still something to watch.

  • When are you going to bring Vee-Arnis-Jitsu

    to Atl ga.

  • yea they good techniques, but personally I would try my hardest to keep the gun pointed towards the sky, cause I wouldnt feel good about someone else dying

  • It all depends on who's life you are trying to save yourself or your family.

  • well in a street situation, there have been cases in the ghetto of kids dying from stray bullets - I just wouldnt feel good period

  • That makes since. Then pointing it up is a good thing.

  • i see your point, but ultimately as he said, that isnt something you can control. best to save your own ass.

  • Trust me, in the few seconds of the struggle, you will not be able to think about where the barrel is pointing other than NOT at you. Did you not just hear Sensei? If you split your focus, you are likely to be the one stopping the bullet.

  • yea you can disarm by pointing the gun upward, and than twistin the gun toward the enemy

  • @djchangsta sadly, Keeping it up kills as well sometimes, sometimes people get hurt. I'd make sure that the attacker can never hurt another person again.

  • Real Talk

None of that suburban sissy #$%^

  • Damn, skrate! I watched this video while having a Philly Cheesestake Thickburger in my hotel room. This is the real deal. Nothing sissy about any of it! Damn I love Hardee's! And I love Shihan David James! ROCK-ON!!

  • good stuff.

  • I have a lot of respect for David having read the Black Belt issue with a feature article on him. All the best David, thank you for your contributions to the martial arts

  • Good technique for real self denfence on the streets.

  • this guy is the best, but i got a snub nose 44!!!! lmao!

  • i got a wife and a kid lol

  • Jesus. I'd just give the guy the 20-40 bucks in my wallet.

  • but ya gotta get the gun away from your head, the mugger could be nervous, shaking full of adrenaline and could pull the trigger accidentally, do you want to take that chance, why would you trust this guy with a gun to your head not to shoot you just because you said ok here's my money......dumb

  • Yeah, and he'll blow you away anyway. What the hell is wrong with people like you?! Stop rolling over on these predators and fight back.

  • What if money isn't what he wants? Then what you gone do? Drop trou' and take a bow?? You best be uppin' yo self-defense skill if you value anything in life. Street is mean, Gene! Real mean these days! Get real!

  • i love this guy

  • He brings out some excellent points, and his teaching style is very good. Good video.

  • Great way to get shot. Reality is a bitch, and the reality of this situation is....Give the mugger your wallet.

  • No kidding! Boy, you are smart! This is just a short clip of the whole video. That is the first thing he states on this video. By the way, aren't you the same guy who says that the best self-defense is to carry a gun? So why then is your name jitsuman???

  • the best self defense IS to carry a gun, if your country and state permit a carry permit. I train Jiu-jitsu because it's fun. The fact that it gives me the ability to take down and beat up lemons like this is added perk.

  • I invite you to back up your big mouth and come to the Vee-Arnis-Jitsu headquarters in Brooklyn, NY. Here's the address: 4202 Avenue U & Flatbush Avenue

(Across from King's Plaza Mall) Brooklyn, NY 11234. Monday through Wednesday, 6:00pm-7:30pm or, better yet, the R.I. school: Third Floor, 530 Wellington Ave

Cranston, RI 02910. We can show you how fun Jiu-Jitsu and a variety of other arts are! Don't shoot yourself in the foot!

  • oh I love jiu jitsu, what you do is crap though. If I come to visit, can you get me a one on one hand to hand session with the guy in the video, and allow video recording?

  • Like I said, the address is below. Feel free to record your embarrassment then beg for lessons when you find out how much this man can teach you. Call ahead to make sure Professor David James is there that evening: 718.252.8944

  • this guy jitsuman aint nuttin but a net punk

  • jitsuman you will be surprised. I am the person who videotaped this series and Professor James will school you. When he is done with you, you will be beging him to teach you. Heck of his white belts would probably hurt you.

  • HAHAHAHA are you really going to fight with this guy?

  • maybe u r da mugger?

  • See totalbody defence to take out a two handed stance.

  • Really great instruction! I've heard of Master Vee, now I see why people say how great he is! Really nice demonstration! Thank you.

  • An excellent video and a great demonstratio of using natural reactions to deal with a hostile situation.

Which style of fighting do these fellas practice?

  • Vee-Arnis-Jitsu

  • Excellent- Thanks.

  • This is from one of his 9 DVD series of instructional DVDs available at blacknbluevideo dot com

  • I'll have a look at that- CHEERS!

  • Hey, I am retarded and I take great offence to him making fun of how I clap!

  • If you hold onto a semi-automatic pistol and grab the gun to push it upwards, the criminal will pull the trigger and your hand will be cutup by the blowback (slide moving backwards after pulling the trigger). I doubt this technique would work anyway.

  • that's no true! My teacher of Krav Maga check it with real gun-he is police man. The blow back don't have so many energy to do that...

  • And I have alot of respect for the Vee Arnis system of martial arts. I studied Atemi Ryu style for about 9 months one time and it is a great style.

  • What a jackass! Think of how much head do you have left when the gun goes off because you tried these stupid ideas.

  • I have tired these methods and they do work if practiced and they become part of your muscle memory but if you just watch the video and try the moves you will probably get killed. As with anything you must practice, practice, and then practice some more. BTW we did it with pellet guns, using eye protection. We used paint ball face gear, and yes we got shot sometimes but when you practice it over and over until it becomes second nature it does work.

  • First let me say... sorry for using the word jackass. I must have watched too many videos the other day. All I can say is ... if you are in a true life or death situation, then you do what you can and hope for the best. It just gets me(not just this video) when someone says, grab this way and twist this way etc. At least you guys put it to the test in practical application.

  • this is ridiculous...

  • You mean ridiculous that you have never had to save your life before. These techniques have tested by Professor James on the streets of NYC

  • Have any of you people fired a gun before? On a revolver, that will work, you can stop the chamber from spinning. On a semi-automatic, the slide is propelled back by the explosion of gunpowder. Your weak, frail hand will not stop it. How, if you manage to get your finger between the hammer and the slide, then yes. But good luck. USe some common sense.

  • lo freakin l

  • excellent video brother!!!!

  • Thank you thank you thank you! Where is this school located? I would love to have an instructor like this.

  • Professor James is located in New York City just google David James

  • this guy is awesome...really fun to watch too. so much energy

  • This is an oasis of common sense in a desert of B.S.

But what happens when you grab the top of a semi-auto as it fires (uncovering the eject port)? Do you lose a finger and the momentum to fight back?

  • Nah. Krav Maga gun defenses are similar to this. If you've got a good grip on the barrel, the slide tends to stay in place when it fires, which jams the gun.

  • Well, I mean the initial redirect is similar to Krav Maga. We don't do a lot of arm-bars in KM. But interesting.

  • All that happens when you cover the ejection port of a semi-auromatic pistol, it just burns slightly and leaves a black powderburn.

It also prevents the weapon from cycling, the empty cartridge casing is still in the chamber, (The weapon is now jammed and unable to fire.) which means the slide has to be pulled back, to eject the empty casing and chamber another live round.

  • awsome

  • wow! this guy is good.

  • Yes!!!! This technique is perfect!

Out of all the shitty gun disarms I've seen, this is the one I have confidence in. My GM would like him.

It's good to see other schools doing good techniques like this.
