  • Nokia N95 doesn't suck. If it had a touch screen it would even be better than iPhone.

    It has more features, but iPhone has this cool multitouch screen for easy, smooth and cool navigation.

  • Leave it to NBC to be snooty, uninformed, scattered and boring. That interviewer lead and focused the interviewees like some moronic housewife on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

    What's the deal with 5% of computer market meaning Apple is almost defunct? (his inference) And what does that have to do with this topic? There are so many computer companies that Apple is merely a mid-level computer sales company. Not irrelevant at all, especially because it has a tenacious niche.

  • I don't think this interview knew anything about this topic, but "Bob" did keep saying the same thing over, "it's innovative" and it wasn't his fault because the details of the phone wasn't available up to that point. He was a dick though.

  • What the hell is this guy talking about "cool" but not "innovative." Aside from the obviously innovative iPod, didn't Apple invent the first OS as we know it today? Didn't they invent the mouse? Apple has a long history of setting industry standards and the iPhone will almost certainly do the same due to its Apple interface that historically has been superior to any other. Remember, Windows was and is nothing more than a copy of Apple OS, and a bad copy at that.

  • I don't think the interviewer is a bad interviewer. I think his question was direct, just that the answer wasn't. I love Apple. But I could have answered the question better by bringing up the history of Apple's inventions and how it will play a huge roll in the phone market. The interviewer was perfect for his argument. He asked, tell me what the iPhone can do? The guy just said...its innovative!? C'mon, if your an Apple fan sell the phone with your experience from a mac! :)

  • YES it's really nice, but you can only buy the iphone if you switch to cingular wireless. Apple and Cingular teamed up, so you have to switch your plan in order to get an iphone :/

U.S. is trailing behind when it comes to cellphone technology. if you look at Japan, there are hundreds of cellphones in the market which range from generic to popular brands, and the fact remains that cellphones are not made for just communicating.. it is a portable media device for listening to music, taking pictures, recording audio, adding calendar notes, and of course communicating to other people.

  • sure, the halo effect does have a large impact on Apple's bottom line, but Mac sales are still the majority of their revenue. iPod's are currently around 45% of their revenue.

  • I don't think that the iPhone will replace the iPod - if that is what you are worried about. I see it as an important move for Apple - they have had a ton of publicity already for this, without them having to say anything! If any company can design a Smart Phone with iPod functionality, I believe Apple can.
