the movie was awesome, but they needed to shoot this better. this is like a low budget greek friends with some weird guy instead of ian. and the laugh track is horrible
@tmerm They probably should have kept everything the same as what seen in the film. They change the names around and everything. John Corbett who played Ian in the film was already signed on to do another television FX Lucky.
They should have kept Tula/Nia as conservative instead of cracking jokes and always a little uncomfortable. The Husband (like the movie) should have been kept as loving the cultural change which is not the case in the sitcom. He seems uncomfortable with all the changes.
@jewelsthomas totally agree. well, i bet nia vardalos didn't write this like she wrote the movie. it's just a shitty attempt at cashing in on the movie by the studios that produced it. that's all. sorry she had to be dragged into it.
I thought it was just a regular comedy show without an audience. This is kinda painful to watch. I loved the movie so much. Why didn't it transfer correctly? :(
The characters set in a sitcom environment didn't work. The new Ian was a trainwreck. Tula's namechange to Nia was a mistake and acting was over-the- top like an 80's sitcom. No wonder it got the ax.
I disagree. The show's acting seems like any other show. The Nanny, Family Matters, Cosby Show, blahblahblah. Actually, I think those shows "over act" more than this show. And the new husband.. can't stand him!
the sitcom is ok. but what really kiled it is that they replace the real Ian with some weirdass white boy. Dont ever take a chance with a great plot idea like this. it just gives them a bad reputation
@PhillipsDaName the show wasn't killed because of the Ian character. he was fine. the show was killed cuz it was terrible. and the actors were all over acting.
@PhillipsDaName same here! it would have probably lasted to like 3 seasons if they had everything from the movie to the show. like their kid from the ending, the house they got, or like the ian dude.
