  • PLEASE COUGH!

  • Ben is better talking hollywood then he is at economics.

    Putz.

  • Hughes will be missed...

  • His films will live on forever for their meaning and depth. He was a unique talent,

  • the showhost is a jew first and an ankle biter second

  • Dead and in Hell.

  • AGREED! I hope Stein and that never-was Bob Newhart go soon...

  • I absolutely loved John Hughes movies! No one understood kids at that time better than John! Lines from his movies still run through my head to this day!

  • My most favorite movie John Hughes did was "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Ben Stein played the economics teacher in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and is known in the movie for saying, "Bueller. Bueller. Bueller." and discussing the Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act of 1930, which lead the United States deeper into the Great Depression. We will all miss John Hughes for his creativity, genius, and understanding of young people and how their minds work. Rest In Peace John Hughes and may God Bless America.

  • John was one of the best. An original

  • John Hughes an 'avid Republican'?!

John maxed out on Barack Obama's presidential campaign in Q1 2008.

  • Great director great person great American great republican. you will be mist RIP

  • Let's hope he's "mist" and nothing more. Stein was right about one thing, though: Home Alone" had

captured "the mindset of the rich pre-teen child: total

paranoia combined with almost Hitlerian fantasies of power."

    and sadism."

  • Ben Stein rocks!

  • Even though Ben is a "creationist" I love the guy, nobody is perfect.

  • Many of my happy memories of childhood wouldn't have exist without John Hughes. I love his films. Rest in Peace.

  • John Hughes wrote and directed a number of great movies. Some of my favorite. Unfortunately, Ben Stein felt the need to make the pronouncement that Hughes was an "avid Republican." I don't need or care to know that. I just want to remember the man for his great films. But then it's Ben Stein talking and it's Fox News, so I guess he felt it was the right place to make the pronouncement.

  • Yes, I thought that comment he made at the end about 'touching kids' hearts, lives.....and their wallets' was rather out of turn.

  • Do you know him well enough personally to hate him or are you just one of those people so insecure with themselves that they can "hate" someone without even knowing them?

I don't care for the man as an actor or personality but I do not know him personally so I can't say that I hate him.

I don't like you, you come off as an asshole, but I don't hate you regardless of what intellecually insufficient insults you may try to throw at me in response to my comments towards you and people like you

  • You should change your attitude, you'll find yourself being a happier person and happier and more successful in life.

  • quote: onnudx- "Do you know him well enough personally to hate him or are you just one of those people so insecure with themselves that they can "hate" someone without even knowing them?"

you said you hated me? and you don´t know me pesonally?... are you one of those insecure people? you must be by your own logic? ;P

And i love how i get thumbs down ^.^

  • No I didn't, I don't know you. I don't like you but I don't hate you. I'd probably feel the same if I knew you personally but I may still not hate you.

You make no sence so I doubt I'd hate you. I'd probably just simply write your opinions and feelings off to lack of intelligence and weak social skills.

Lastly in your words "I also hate pure stupidity and liars, and this is what he has spewed" blah blah blah it seems as though you do not like people to have their own faith and opinions.

  • you are taking the word "hate" more harshly than I do...

by hate I mean: I do not like the guy, and I do not like his opinions.

I am not meaning this as harshly as I would see him dead or something like that.

Let me rephrase myself so you might understand what I meant- I do not like this guy because he is giving science a bad name, and because he is actively trying to push religion onto others.

you take words to harshly ^.^

  • You don´t know anything about what would make my life better or how I can be happier- Again, you don´t know me =)

    I have a fine attitude ^.^

    I am at least honest

  • No, I have never met the guy. But I do hate everyone who try´s to destroy or stop science because there personal religion got in the way...

I also hate pure stupidity and liars, and this is what he has spewed from his most recent movie expelled...

so yes, I can hate him- It´s no problem. I didn´t know Stalin or Hitler personally, but I do still hate them.

And I don´t really care if you hate me? it´s up to you ^.^

  • You are not too bright, are you? You realize at this point people are laughing at you, right? Do yourself a favor. Don't dig yourself in further with another reply.

  • ^.^

Even if people are laughing (and I am pretty sure that it´s impossible to not having someone laughing there ass of at your expense on the internet), I woulden´t care.

I am not bright, but I am not stupid- And I am sure that you aren´t to "bright" either.

So why did you jump me because i said i hated the guy? Am I not to express myself? free speech?

  • Okay this video is not about creationism. I don't believe in it either. This is about John Hughes who was a sweet guy as is Ben Stein. It's supposed to be about one sweet guy talking about his friend who will be dearly missed. I'm gonna miss him too. I just wish I met him before he left this earth. Adios, John. Vaya con Dios.

  • I love Ben Stein, what a cool guy.

  • So what? What's it got to do with anything? We're talking about John Hughes, but you just couldn't let it go could you?

  • Who gives a shit!? His eulogizing John Hughes has NOTHING to do with intelligent design. They were friends and a lot of us are interested in hearing what he has to say about someone we consider to be a GREAT MAN. Leave your petty ideological gripe out of it and show some respect. It's not all about you and your bullshit.

  • Comment removed

  • Because Ben Stein was in one of his movies. What if Cavuto interviewed Matthew Broderick? Would YOU care about what Broderick has to say?

  • On the contrary, YOU are missing the point. The point is Ben Stein was one of John Hughes' close friends. He went on tv to eulogize the man and pay his respects. To answer your question, many of us care what he thinks in this context. Not about creationism, but John Hughes.

As for mentioning that Hughes was a republican - why shouldn't he mention it? It's relevant and its something they bonded over.

"I'm not saying anything about John Hughes." Exactly. So why are you here? Fuck off.

  • Pfft. You actually came back five days later to continue this? Ha ha. Speak volumes.

  • God Bless John Hughes

  • @dopeskies Nice grammar you tool. Try using your brain instead of just flinging poop.

  • This made me get misty:

Ultimate John Hughes Tribute: His Top 5 Scenes

    Great films.

  • he made a lot good movies, very sad!

  • Ben Stein rocks

  • yeah he does if your a creationist douche bag

  • Ben Stein is a creationist douchebag.

  • That reporter is a douche-bag, and Ben Stein ain't much better.

  • Way to misquote, Ben Stein

  • Mr. Hughes was one of the best.

  • good riddance would be when cheeseburger mike moore croaks. what an embarrassment he is to film.

  • Way to showcase your abject lack of intelligence--or even common sense, for that matter. Nicely done!

  • That guy looks like John Hughes.

  • Aw come on, Hughes wasn't that ugly.

  • Republican?

    ...Heartless?

    Impossible!

  • "I believe 59 years old.." Dude, do some research first. It's not that hard to find and doesn't take long either. This reminds me of why I love Ben Stein. Great tribute by him about John Hughes. RIP John Hughes.

  • you do realize that it is a show about business and money? That is the take of the show everything revolves around business. I understand what you are saying (I LOVE John Hughes) and it sounds kinda callous but that is the view of the program.

  • Generation-x is going Societal collapse. Everything will be taken care by boomers and joneses.

  • What a prick Cavuto is. All about money... he's probably never seen a Hughes film in his life.

  • I'm no Cavuto fan by any stretch, but he is on Fox Business.

  • You said it!

  • R.I.P. John!

The Breakfast Club is one of my favourite movies and one of the best of the 80ies.

  • lol was thinking the same thing, what an stupid way to open a news story.

  • RIP -- His movies had a huge impact in my life growing up in the 80s. Thanks for the memories.

  • R.I.P the band from ferris buellers day off was my high school band back in the day! wooo class of 09!

  • John Hughes was a great guy. R.I.P.

  • RIP John Hughes - thank you for the memories

  • One wonders what Hughes thought of Stein's recent descent into anti-science madness.

  • What are you talking about.......

  • Ben Stein believes in creationism.

  • I'm sure all artists want to be know for how much money they made. Very fitting "tribute" from Fox.

The business tie in was not needed: it's news, report it as news.

  • PS Twilight sucks, and have no emotion impact like a John Hughes film

  • Agreed.

  • The newcaster have no damn clue who John Hughes is
