Before Magic Johnson's NCAA basketball title in 1979 the Lakers had their eye on the 6'5" Sidney Moncrief of Arkansas. Moncrief was known more for his good defense. The early 1980s Bucks were in the shadow of the Eastern Conference top dogs - Boston and Philly. In the 76ers' playoff run for the 1983 NBA title the Milwaukee Bucks can say that they were the only team to get a victory from the unstoppable Sixers. Because of the Bucks the Moses Malone's famous "fo, fo, fo" became the "fo, fi, fo."
The Bucks had alot of quality players in Marques Johnson, Sidney Moncrief, Jack Sickma, Paul Pressy, John Lucas, an Older Bob Lanier but they had no go-to guy... Maybe Moncrief
I agree with Hubie. Houston should have tried harder to keep him. A few more years of Moses may have been better than the way things turned out with Sampson.
As for the 80's Bucks, I felt bad for them. They came along at the wrong time. They beat Boston, but they couldn't get by Philly. Then, three years later, they got by Philly, but Boston was in their way. And, in 87, if they would have gotten by Boston(which they should have), Detroit would have beaten them.
Hello LakersDynasty42 I was just curious on how you were able to get these rare films and if you could tell me I would greatly appreciate it if so e-mail me at matthewtobar@yahoo.com
Then they should've beaten MILWAUKEE. And in 2001, the Spurs had beaten LA 3 out of 4 times. We saw how THAT conf. final turned out...regular season means squat
@ace11rothstein extrepolate? who uses that word, is that even a real word? anyways. regular season matchups means nothing in the playoffs, once you're in the postseason, you throw that out the window, if it always went according to regular season meetings, then we would have different nba champions than the ones we've had. you should know that by now, a person who knows sports should know that.
@90sandearly00srule1 The word is "extrapolate", obviously your misspelling is not a word. You don't just throw out a regular season because you feel like it. Did the Sixers play differently in the regular season and then the playoffs? NO. So throwing out the regular season record vs the Celtics is rather biased if not arbitrary.
BTW, how did that Dallas-Miami matchup play out in these Finals?
is that jack nicholson @ 1:27 ?

I'm a 76ers fan but I swear the only 3 teams that mattered back then was the 76ers, Lakers, and Celtics!!! Bulls came in the 90's

@sptrfn Those were some real quality Bucks teams. Had they come along in the late 90's or so, they would've won a title.

Great players back then.....

The Celtics threw the series against the Bucks because alot of the players didn't like their coach Bill Fitch.

Sixers 4-5-4 in the playoffs that year. Too bad Boston didn't make it to the Eastern Conference finals in 83. Sixers would've swept them too.....

@Andreas748 Except the 1983 Celtics beat the Sixers THREE times during the reg season.

@cbaldwinjr How do you extrapolate that? You know this game is about matchups don't you?
