@robshannon Which one you referring to? "Teardrops''? Someone actually removed my posting of a year ago - can you believe it? iTunes has a demo version of LLnites as well as the released version. But released version still chills me to the bones. Listen to the Past, Look to the Future, Live in the Now - With your Oldies Cranked Up. Music Manned - Not Canned.
To Mopable: Artists no longer paint as the great masters painted but that does not make the Mona Lisa invalid. If people like doo wop music, how does that hurt you?
LEE ANDREWS and the HEARTS were so great, there aren't many groups that can compare to them!! A great slow dance song!! This along with TRY THE THE IMPOSSIBLE were 2 of the greats (along with the MELLOWKINGS) of the 50s!!
I GETWHAT UR SAYING ELIZABETH GS I AM JUST SAYING TOO MANY PEOPLE LIVE IN THE PAST I LIKE A LOT OF DIFFERENT MUSIC BUT I DO NOT LIKE WHITE CHICKS LIKE THIS MELODY GARDOT WHO ARE NOT SO GREAT IN MY HUMBLE OPINION
there is good music today ur just a stubborn old fool who stays in the past ever listen 2 alicia keyes or beyonce or sweet baby jai i am also a fan of doo wop but its time has passed
@mopable Every era has good and bad. Alicia's wonderful. John Legend's another terrific singer/songwriter/pianist of today - could easily fit into almost any era of the last 50 years. What do people this talented have to do to get noticed? My favourite music is R&B of the 60's & 70's although I love Classic Rock, the 'Big' Ballads and Smooth Jazz...(nothing like being eclectic), yet there are gems everywhere if one pays attention. Melody Gardot - she's a young and brilliant multi-talent too.
Crying my eyes out here. Hubby and I separated 6 years ago. Not to mention this was my moms favorite oldie. Thanks for posting. Such a beautiful song. They don't make them like this anymore!
still have my original 45 of this great record, plus many others, am rea;lly glad i saved them, most of them are at least 50/55 years old, nothing like old doo wop, consider my self an original rocknroller
i'm from philly..before i broke away from my group to record we were known as street singers..we would walk the streets singing these songs..singing at parties..we had some names in our area... little sonny intuders al banks turbins...ernest evans aka chubby checker....he had a tight group before going solo...the white groups in philly could blow also it was the best of times
@billchew450 Douglas Henderson, known as Jocko, was a well known DJ in Philadelphia and New York around the time that this song appeared, but I'm not sure if he was the same person who wrote it.
@bookworm1818 I was just listening and wasn't watching. Now I checked, and you're right. That's a pic of The Temptations. Pretty glaring mistake. They look nothing like Lee Andrews And The Hearts. Catman should get that pic off there; it makes no sense. One Temps pic in the middle of someone else's song and collage. WTF
@crusher1944 You said it! LOL!! It's a shame really. If I do happen to hear a "good" song, nine times out of ten it's been "sampled" or downright using the actual music and adding their additional melodies; no originality anymore.
Have done Teardrops, but may be opting for chemical intervention to help deal with predilection for Saa--aa--aa-aad songs. Love them, but not enough upbeat, "Sh-Boom", "Money, Honey", "Come Go with Me"- type songs to balance out the mix. All that "Unrequited Love's a bore, it's a pleasure to be sad"(Mama Cass) - can get one down. Thanks for all your effort. :D
@catman916 I'm in a little doowop group, figured I'd wing LLNights at practice one evening for them. Had NEVER attempted it before. Finished real strong then had to sit and just weep for a while. woof . What a wonderful cathartic song :_)
@jollywally001 Good for you. I think that Doo-Wop is unknown or under appreciated by the younger generations. Do you also do the other big Lee Andrews hit, "Teardrops?"
love this song , lovely memories of the 50s thanks for posting this :)

Lee Andrews is Questlove's father. You can see that raw Phily flavor.

Philly.

2:12 I'm probably mistaken, but is that Paul Williams and Eddie Kendricks in the back?
