What if an emergency vehicle is trying to get through, it's not a bus, the vehicle is trying to get to a fire. It slams into the bollard at 60 mph. What if a visitor to Manchester is driving, doesn't recognize the bollards will be there. He slams into the bollard at 15 mph. I am going to be a mechanical engineer when I get out of college and will campaign night and day to have bollards removed from roadways.

Those bollards are fantastic and have saved hundreds of lives from reckless dangerous motorists. That stupid woman with her kid in the backseat should have her child taken away by child protective services for reckless endangerment. ridiculous... the buses have unfair priority to access a road that should be open for ALL traffic. Being smaller than buses, cars should be entitled to travel anywhere buses can, except, of course, bays of a bus station, for instance.

I just see the state oppressing private individuals. Also I should point out that on a road, if ten thousand cars pass over each set every day, and these things were everywhere, the likelihood at one of them malfunctioning while a car goes over them at speed is dramatically increased, and the results could be very serious. At least when a traffic light shorts out, it doesn't smash into you.

they havent got rid of the bollards,there are still vehicles being impaled from time to time,the council are considering suing the drivers with the cost of repairing the bollards now.

Also I should point out that on a road, if ten thousand cars pass over each set every day, and these things were everywhere, the likelihood at one of them malfunctioning while a car goes over them at speed is dramatically increased, and the results could be very serious. At least when a traffic light shorts out, it doesn't smash into you.
