I was wondering why you had yet to mention Arcade Fire, and probably the most famous white Haitian, Regine Chassange. I thought that was them I heard in the background, but wasn't sure. "Haiti" is one of their best songs, and has educated many young people about the suffering under Papa Doc and Baby Doc.
I enjoyed your documentary. I would love to learn more about the Polish metis community and their history. The same mixing happened here, to a smaller extent, with Hessian soldiers.
@ThePurpleSeahorse that was in fact Arcade fire playing in the background the song has to do with many things i addressed in the documentary so i thought it would be a proper closing song for the credits.
i am working on a project on the polish descended Haitians. please subscribe to my channel and i will keep you updated when it is finished.
@MisfitsToFreaxxs13 yes arcade fire is a canadian band but the front woman Régine Chassagne mother and father are Haitian and they fled from Haiti during political turmoil in the 1980s and they gave birth to regine in canada. she is still very in touch with her Haitian roots. that is why their song Haiti is included in this documentary. it tells the story of her family having to flee the Country
FASCINATING DOCUMENTARY... Wish you could get it on PBS, but they are too liberal, right? "Only whites can be racist"....
I heard there were about a million indentured servants/white slaves who were brought to the caribbean/barbados... that is a forgotten history too. "rednecks" - that's where the term comes from.
GOD BLESS!
I met a 1/32nd black white guy (blond hair, blue eyes) from St. Croix...
And there's that one small island in the Caribbean (Nevis?) that is half white/black.
I am Haitian and you do not understand how I have spoke so much about this to Haitian people, to Americans, and all ethnicity, race, and nationalities. I believe in education. I am an black Haitian and I am 21 and came here at 5. Ever since then I knew these facts about my beautiful country. I love Haiti and my father tells me about its generation of beauty and how one day he wishes it to be the same again. I want to actually move back I love it. Like he said there is a beauty that can't be exp.
i was born in 1982 so the period where Jamaica and Haiti were in good condition is really before my time things have been going down hill most all of my life time.
but yes it is possible for the Caribbean to return to some level of glory, it will take time and it may not happen in my life time even, if you wish to return then i invite you, i tell americans all the time how Haiti once had several periods of prosperity they shake there heads and say no not possible,
@ForgottenFaces001 Well my dad was born in 1950, so he has seen it in all aspects. I know exactly what you mean though. I really Salut you for this. If you need help let me know I would love to aid you in your projects. I love to learn and my organization stands for Empowering Haitian Women. I mean I know even if at it's worse I would still go back because my home is Haiti. :)
stay in touch with me, and i am truly happy you feel this project has worth, i was thinking it would interest white america more being they are so shocked about whites living in Haiti but i have come to realize Haitians of all ethnic and racial background need projects like this the most, i plan on making a kreyol version of this documentary in the near future, so stay in touch. and let me know more about your org
Ok I am just in awe, my parents are from L'artibonite and my dad is black but my mom is a bi-racial Haitian and I have always been fascinated with Haiti's colourful history and diversity. I have been looking for something like for a very long time and this is the first one that I have found. I wish you much success from one Haitian to another.
thank you for your support, i am proud to be one of the few people who have worked on a project like this and i am in the process of making more, hope you get to see them
@misshadassah416 lmao what the fuck is a biracial Haitian this crap doesnt exist in Hiati its when you people come in America then you cant be Black anymore. SMFH. Im not saying your mom wasnt mixed most likely she wasnt Biracial even the whites in Haiti have Black blood in them. You in awe cause there are white Haitians? OMFG slavery messed yall up BAD SO BAD
well there are white Haitians several who were included in the documentary that do not have black heritage but yes it is true many white haitians can trace some black lineage. but there is no shame in people not knowing about the subject of Haitians with different racial makeup the shame is in not listening and refusing to learn. i think she is more in awe because it is a topic that has seemed hidden to so many people.
@ForgottenFaces001 Well I have been to Haiti and Ive seen them Whites all over you know in Petion-ville. Yeah but its that in Haiti even though we discriminate against each other at the end of the day there is still this thing were we call each other "Haitian" You would have to be in Haiti to understand its nice but I feel like some people are going to run with it .
many Haitians white and black have a strong sense of culture and national pride it is true, there is so much in the haitian culture that can unite all people in the country
@TruthdontneedDefense umm a biracial Haitian is a Haitian of two different ethnicities, you need to read and comprehend before you jump to conclusions and you are contradicting yourself, you're saying that you're not saying that my mom isn't mixed but that she isn't biracial, isn't that what being biracial is? two things coming together as one? in this case two races? i am not in awe at white Haitians because I know my country I was at awe at the documentary. please read
outside of the southern areas like pap and petionville a bi racial Haitian is very visible in places like okkap and nord Haiti, many Haitians in Haiti if not the majority are black/near 100 percent sub saharan black african descent.
so if someone has some white heritage it is something you notice i many regions of Haiti
i was looking for a document like this and it's inspring. For a longtime i always had big arguments with haitian descents about these types of prejudices. Haiti needs all of its kids and its kids's kids to rebuild plain and simple
@ForgottenFaces001 do you have any plans to do a documentary on haitians in the Dominican Republic and vice versa? there seems to be a big misconception on the relationship of those 2 nations i am of both backgrounds and i feel the tension more abroad ( U.S, Canada) then back in haiti and the D.R.. Can't wait for your next doc. it's on Asian in Haiti right?
@ForgottenFaces001 good, can't wait for your next project i've subscribed to your channel so i will get a look. Now I'm curious about the DR project, way to go sir!! lol
@ForgottenFaces001 Why dont you do one on Blacks in Europe i have noticed people seem to take it as a bog deal when a so-called white person is from the west in dies but when a black person is from Europe its not like whatever .
yes you are right, and there is already a documentary on black natives of russia, perhaps in the future if i can get the funding i will but it seems to be ground that is already broken, what i am doing is more untouched
@ForgottenFaces001 you know what there are also Black Iraqi I just found out No one knows about these things but anyways good for you do you have a website or anything you should create one so people can support you maybe a blog where we can follow you. I love what you are doing. You should blog
yes there over 100,000 black iraqs, it has been hard for them as it has been for all the people of iraq, it is a interesting subject, i am working on a website you can see it on my channel
@ForgottenFaces001 I major in Business and I know exactly what you are talking about. Thanks for shining positive light On Haiti and the other poor countries
well those are the words of peter frisch, i simply am the one asking the questions rolling the camera he is a fountain of information on many subjects including business
I learn a lot about this subject that I didn't know before, even though I am Haitian. It's always good when Haitians tell their own story. Maybe, more Haitians should pick up the journalism. I am glad that some White/Mulatto Haitians took the time to speak out and speak their minds. In many instance it seems like they stay silent. That's why it helps when white Haitians speak out in solidarity and get their voice heard. I welcome diversity. It creates a more vibrant and productive country.
Now we know he is haitians money talk bull shit walk haitian people love saying that shit. love it I reallyh want to go to haiti right now but my mother will kill me
thank you for your videos i learn a lot more on a subject i thought i knew all about...i think only when our country is fully functioniong can the rest of the population come to recognize its minorities contribution to the country
im haitian comes in all colors.
