I always thought it would make more sense if people would fret with their dominant hand, seeing as fretting is a much more delicate task than strumming or picking. It takes a lot of work to make your other hand as dexterous as your dominant hand. In that way, it's much more logical to fret with your dominant hand, as I've instructed some of my friends who are left-handed, not to mention that left-handed guitars are much harder to come by than right-handed ones.
