@MrBigstudly6991 Well there are probably a few friends she may recognize on a recent 45th AHS reunion. I graduated in '65 and uploaded it to youtube. Glad she liked it, hope she gets back now and then.
You should have gotten a shot of the big, blue water tower out on Ebeneezer, too. That's how I always gave directions to my house...lol!! 3rd house on the right past the water tower, but I am sure that I couldn't say that now because there are probably more houses out there.
I LOVE this video!!! Thanks so much for posting it on here, it brings back lots of memories. I grew up in Aurora but left in 1989 when I graduated from the Academy in Oldenburg. I haven't been back since my grandmother died in 2000, so I am sure that a lot has changed. I am related to the Chrismans, Hafenbridles, Fehlings, Schulers, Hastings, etc, etc, etc...., btw. So most of my extended family is still there.
@CJusticeGillardo You're right about the tower, totally forgot - that would have been a great landmark. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. You need to go back to your hometown again. So you probably recognized Roger. :-)
Hi my name is Dave Neff 2. I think in the video you are refering to going to school with my dad. Who are you? I called him and told him about the video but I couldn't figure out your name.
@djneff2 Hi Dave - you're right, I'm sure it's your Dad. I'm Sharon McD. and graduated from AHS in '65. Wish he would have been at the recent 45th reunion at Terry B's - have a video from it on my channel, too - have him watch it!
Stumbled over here from a comment about Lonnie Mack and was pleasantly surprised to see Aurora, I lived there for a couple years and had almost forgotten how pretty River City is.
My dad's side is from Aurora, I spent a LOT of my childhood here. Thank you so much for the video. This definitely makes me homesick, I think I'm going to go home soon to visit!
thank u soooo much for this video.. I miss home more than I ever thought I would!!!!!!! graduate of 2006... only been gone for 4 years and it feels like 100!!!!!! thank you!! tear :)
@adwwhiteusca Thank YOU for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I miss Aurora, too. I'll be heading that way for my 45th AHS class reunion in a few weeks, so it's nice to know young people enjoy the video too. Hope you get to go back home soon.
Wow - What a wonderful trip through Aurora. I'm Pat Thomas (Miller) AHS Class of '73. I live in Tampa, Florida now and it was fun to stroll through Aurora with you. :)
@msXan1987 Hi Pat, any relation to Don? I'll be seeing him July 10th at our 45th AHS reunion. Glad you enjoyed your stroll through Aurora and thank you for watching.
I think your great-grandmother was loved by every child whoever walked inside of her little grocery. We would all browse for too long, I'm sure, to select just the right sweet treat. She's probably one of the most remembered from the 50s-60s of those who grew up in Aurora. I was a kid, so if you can give us some history, that would be terrific! I probably went to school with your grandfather! Yikes!
Wow! love your video!!!! and i sure do remember Abby's i would run up there after school get my candy and go get back on the bus for the ride out North Hogan. those where the good ole days!!!!
You may not know who I am, but Don should know. Dan and I had an older brother Tom who passed away about 7 years ago. We lived just up the road from Ebenezer Baptist Church.
my mom was from aurora and i just showed her the video and and she loved it she graduated in 64 from AHS

A lot of good pics. Do you happen to have the photo of that big building, I think it was the train station that burnt down around 15 or so years ago?

Great video! Really captures the essence and beauty of Aurora and brings back some wonderful memories for me, an AHS '60 grad.

Thank you! You must have graduated with my brother, Don McDonald.
ahsconnection 2 years ago
That is correct. And my brother Dan graduated with your brother John.
