USAF Thunderbirds at Keesler AFB 2009 Gulfport-Biloxi

I was at this show and saw the gray nose cone and knew something was up. I do have some video of they arriving that was shot from the control tower.

We were staying on the one condo unit that is on the beach/gulf just west of the airfield. Was the coolest thing to be right under their turn around point by the water... very cool!! Got the show in despite shaky weather both days....

omg this was so cool like you could hear them anywere in biloxi and it sounded louder than a hurrican and the thunderburd wow like you would see it fly over your house and than 5 sec later you herd the sound it would make it was amazing i loved it

The reason for the gray noses was five of the F-16s were damaged from a storm right after they arrived. Five new noses were flown in from Utah so the planes could be ready for the show. The flying is impressive but to get five broke jets show ready in less than a day is real impressive.

Not quite after they arrived.... The noses were damaged because #1 elected to lead his formation through some nasty weather (lightning & hail) when arriving before the show. You are right though that the impressive part was the MX folks and others behind the scenes getting the aircraft repaired quickly.

I see the Navy Blue Angels every year in South Texas and love them! Makes you proud to be an American!

Whats the deal with the grey noses?

I have no idea, early that day I went by their hangar and saw two of them with the gray noses, but the colored ones where laying in the floor by the planes, I don't know what's the deal.

Ok. By the way, nice job getting the audio and the video. Were you surprised at the song at 3:12? Thats the last thing I would think that they would have used XD

I was wrong, even 3 of them had a grey nose.

and if you look closer you can see that #4 is the two seater one , I think they where having mechanical problems with the planes that's why they started late and some  have the grey noses

Seems like the F 16 of the soloist (I think that is the on who started at last) had a grey nose instead of the colorful one.

Thanks for posting, I was there Saturday but I left right before they started the show, it was taking them for ever and seemed like they were doing an engine overhaul. I knew i had a 3 hour drive back to Jackson so I opted to beat the crowd and leave early plus I had a massive sun burn. I did see them fly over as i was going up Hwy 90

Yeah, they started very late, but it was worth the wait!, but when their show was over everybody rush to the exits at the same time, i was in the line 1 hour and 30 mins to get in bus that took me back to the mall where i parked my truck.

other than that It was a great show!
