I trully enjoy your senario video's, you can tell that you have put forth a tremendous amount of effort into them, they are both informative and entertaining as well. Keep up the great work.
Yes, but there are more barriers than you may have considered. Roads will be clogged with empty cars and fuel will be nonexistant. Government at every level would be shut down for months. There will be no power, no working phones. Eighty or ninety percent of the population may be starving, and protection of the country will be the least of their concerns. Navy ships, tanks, and planes will have no fuel. Troops will be stranded. Every community will be an island to themselves.
@2007xtremembd "Live free or die" is an inspiring quote, but not a recommendation to suicide oneself when things get bad. After all, freedom is a matter of degree. Are you entirely free right now? No way, have you been to the airport lately? And will you be a complete slave if China invades? Probably not. If China attacks and if they treat us somewhat respectfully, I will offer them the same respect. We owe China - not the other way around.
There are stabilizers for fuel, both diesel and gas. If you store them, make sure you use a good stabilizer. Some of the diesel stabilizers do not prevent bacteria from growing. You need the type of stabilizers that prevent the growth of bacteria, for long term storage.
You can also look into bio-diesel, and ethanol production.
Good video, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the story technique. I didnt read too much into the not sharing of info but mainly what Mr Peterson grabbed for his trip home. Very interesting. I know this style must take some extra time and really appreciate the effort. Keep up the great work!
Dammit dude I don't want you in charge of my compound Intel. I am a Constitutional Libertarian and The people have the RIGHT to all information regardless of how bad or good it is ... Only immediate security can be kept secret for a limited time.

Great video as always. One thing I've noticed on this video as well as a couple prior. You spoke of keeping certain information from the people. I think that this is a mistake. People can handle/take the news. Our current gov trades/takes our Liberties for "our safety" every day. Right now you are the person who is " in the know" but what if you weren't? Wouldn't you like to be informed and have all the available information? Thanks for all your efforts!
@southernprepper1 - Some other items that might be good for bartering: cigarettes, alcohol (small shot bottles), TP, toiletries (toothpaste, soap etc.)
Great video, SP1! I can't wait to see what Peterson wrote. Don't forget about the 4-star flag, did he say anything? You're doing great.
One thing for a future video sometime-- could you go over what types of ammo to buy, like fmj, hollow point, bcukshot, birdshot, etc, for rifles, pistols, and shotguns? What are the best uses of each type, how to select the right ammo for the right situation, and what to stock most of?
@Jimoutside Hopefully tomorrow Iam going to go over on our discussion of the last 2 scenario videos on alot of things that people commented on plus alot of people have sent me PMs asking about how much ammo to stock and I will give my take on this.
(jjaayypp's wife) I like the way you do your vids. I can understand more this way. A lot of good points. Things to think about. Good work. God bless you and yours.
your doing a fine service Mr. southernprepper1 . Thank you for your hard work and your thoughts on a deep subject. Please keep up these great vids and Godbless.
Amazing how many comments have gone from supporting the video to topics about invasion and such. That's what PM's are for folks. Show a little compassion for the mourners and the deceased. -Respectfully.
You are really on to something here. Keep up the excellent work and creating these very realistic scenarios. We all look forward to your insight. I agree with Myrmecia about sharing with your intel group and coming to a better conclusion a/b what is out there.
You rock dude. I truly believe the US fiscal programs are past the point of no return. The law of economics states SHTF is just over the hill. What pushes the country there and when it happens? I wish I knew, but I feel it is very very close. I have been prepping my mindset and supplies for two years.
Don't you think the gov will take control of the population and invoke Marshall Law to lock the population down? Do you see a situation where the NY local, city, state police, all don't show up like Katrina? When the market crashes, the cost of living increases to Carter #'s I think there will be a short unrest. I cannot see the US Gov not trying to over reach their legal constitutional power and lock the public down with "State of emergencies" SP1, I love your video's.
@jeffreylane7 If it's a nation wide collapse, the police aren't going to be out in full force. They may try for a couple of days or weeks. They won't be getting paid. Who's looking after their families while they're away? Plus, the gov't doesn't have enough people to control everyone. My local police dep't couldn't handle my county if things were to get out of hand. They would be overrun in a day.
@jeffreylane7 It would depend on the type of situation at hand. I think that if things get bad enough the gov't will try to assert some kind of authority over the people. The military could be one of them, but you also have to ask the same questions. Who's taking care of their families? Are they being paid? There will be some soldiers who won't act against American citizens. Some may even go AWOL. There just isn't enough military and police to lock down the entire U.S.
@metalhead2508 I can't say I disagree with your logic, as a Oath Keeper I would HOPE a lot of police/service-members follow the Constitution and US law. BUT...the sheer arrogance of the US Congress cannot be overlooked or underestimated.
@jeffreylane7 even if congress ordered some kind of civilian internment or whatever, it's ultimately not up to them. It's up to the boots on the ground. Congress can order this and that, but they aren't the enforcers of the order. I think we will get more trouble from police than our military. The police nowadays are completely corrupt and abusive. they won't give up their "power" easily. They will follow any order that will keep the authority in their hands.
@metalhead2508 I think many police departments would assert themselves as the new leaders, if the army didn't. They will still get paid, but it will be in the form of confiscated food and supplies instead of U.S. dollars. They are the new knights looking over the new peasants in the new feual society of the new dark ages. But China is likely to invade, and wipe all of that away.
How is China likely to invade? They would have to commit huge amounts of resources to do so, and they'd have the same economic problems that we'd have. Plus, they have neighbors like Russia who wouldn't bat an eye at taking some Chinese territory if the bulk of Chinese forces were deployed half a world away. Oh, and I don't see how the Chinese would be able to maintain an invasion of that magnitude with increasingly scarce resources.
@rahfields Everything China needs to invade they would already have: Millions of troops and the transports to send them here. It doesnt take a strong economy to go to war when you have 1.2 billion people. Russia wouldnt hit China, they'd gang up on us too, going straight for Alaskan oil, while China sends fresh Californian fruit back home.
I didn't say that they didn't have the ability to successfully invade the U.S. They do. I agree completely with you in that regard. What I'm arguing is that they would not be able to sustain their occupation and actually "take" the territory. They don't have enough resources to sustain it for long, and I do not believe that Americans would be too keen on helping them grow food here. Combine guerrilla warfare with long Pacific supply lines, and it won't look good for occupation.
@rahfields took me a while to get back to ya, but I think if the US was crippled theyd have an easy time with occupation. They wouldnt even need much of a supply line - they'd just take what they need here. If the US military was not functioning then they might even be able to march in and hold ground without a fight. And they would take food as the needed, by gunppoint if need be.
I better understand your view now, but I still must disagree. I think you're assuming that the U.S. will be the only country badly affected by the upcoming depression/collapse. During the Great Depression, the world was affected and people were desperate. This will be much worse than the Great Depression. China will suffer much of the same economic woes as us and Europe. The international economy is too intertwined for anyone to be unaffected.
You're also assuming that the U.S. military will no longer exist. It might not exist as a Federal force, but, if the world is collapsing and China is still able to send and fully supply an invasion fleet, the U.S. will still be able to field troops to repel the invasion or at least conduct effective guerrilla warfare. Also, your assumption that the Chinese would be able to live off the land here is extremely optimistic. Americans would burn the crops rather than feed enemies.
@rahfields I know the whole world would be affected, but for a nation whose primary resource is manpower, it may actually do more good than harm to them. If the Chinese economy fell apart, chinese men would be enlisting by the hundreds of millions, just to keep themselves fed. They would practically not even need an economy in order to attack us. Every thing they need, they already have. China is more oppressive than the US so they are more likely to keep the gov in power and avoid wrol.
You're right, that has always been their strong point. You can kill a hundred million, and there's three hundred million to take their place. They remind me of the Zerg from Starcraft, lol.
I still think you're too optimistic about China's situation. The U.S. government only has enough food and supplies for its armed forces for a few months of active duty, maybe a year tops, before it would need to be completely resupplied. That's with just holding a border.
Now put yourself in China's shoes. First, the economy is collapsing so they cannot rely on the food production systems to stay online, or at least not completely. So, their resupply source would be decreased or eliminated, with at least a doubling or tripling of their manpower, and thus their food intake. Not to mention the valuable resources (fuel, etc) needed to transport and supply the invasion force.
@rahfields Yeah, I was usually Terran, but I never excelled at that game hehe. I think in a dire situation the government (Chinese or US) would use whatever means to supply the military, letting civilians starve before the military does. And as soon as they hit our shores California would become their new supplier. The US is destroying its currency much faster than China is. In a depression, China would have money to buy things, while the US would have no choice but to confiscate property.
The difference is that the U.S. citizens are pretty well armed and are more than capable of fighting government forces for control of private property. Also, you're forgetting that a very large percentage of the U.S. military would never obey those orders and would join the patriot movement. The Communist Chinese would not be able to grow food in California, and the majority of productive people who DO grow it would not help them.
@rahfields True, government would have a hard time seizing property from citizens, which is exactly why the government would cease to function, making military defense against the Chinese impossible. If a vast army consumed California most people would not even put up a fight. Why get yourself killed needlessly when you can work with the Chinese to rebuild law and order, and get the farms working again? For non-preppers, a Chinese takeover is better than WROL. At least they might eat.
I guess the main point we differ on, and the one which alters both of our scenarios, is our opinions on the capability of the Chinese to carry out a full invasion and permanently occupy a portion of the U.S. during a global economic collapse. It's my opinion that the Chinese, as well as all other governments, would be too busy quelling inner turmoil and worrying about neighbors to invade. It seems that you believe they would not only survive intact, but with this capability.
Military defense wouldn't be impossible. I'm not talking about a Federal force when I describe resistance. At most, I'm describing state forces. If the Federal military is no more, the technology and weapons will go somewhere. The Pacific Fleet will still be present and available, as long as it is supplied. Nukes and other weaponry will still exist. Communications will still be present. To add to that, citizen militias will increase in number and effectiveness. Not a cakewalk..
@jeffreylane7 The military might split up into different factions. They will no longer be paid in US dollars, but in stolen food and goods. For those who have a nice fortified community, the military will be your worst nightmare. There is not a chance in the world they will allow you to stockpile food when their fellow troops are hungry.
@jeffreylane7 They will try to maintain control, but it'll be impossible. As much as our troops are spread across the world, even if they weren't, all of them probably couldn't contain even 1 major metropolis, let alone every single one at the exact same time from coast to coast. They probably couldn't even do it with foreign troops added in, but, again, that won't stop them from trying. All great empires eventually fall, history shows. & any1 who thinks they can manage it is fooling themselves.
Initially, I thought it would be unrealistic for someone to keep a highly detailed journal while traveling overland during a WROL scenario but after thinking about it a little I think the journal would keep me focused and act as a companion on the trip. You.re not travelling 18 hours a day afterall. You need to stop when you get to a good spot to stop. You need rest too. Then the journal would help to unwind. It would also be a service to your fellows as in this vid. Good idea, SP1!
You have hinted a gruesome details in Mr Peterson's diary. You should not keep any of this to yourself - your intelligence team need to have access to the lot, pooling their knowledge and skills to paint the most realistic and likely picture of what's happening elsewhere. In this sort of local survival situation, you need women on your int team, too. Women are often better than men at imputing meaning and intentions. Why the primitive lantern? It's <80 days in, you should have rechargeables.
Sp1 I'm sure Mr. Peterson must have a log of rotation for the fuel at the house somewhere. I make sure I rotate out within 12 months, using Stabil fuel stabilizer. Check his filing cabinet, he did like to keep things in order.
@southernprepper1 I say ammo would be worth a lot more than your gas. Gas mainly has a shelf life of 1 year. I'll give you 25 rounds 7.62x39 and 25 rounds of 223 and 1 chickens for half of the gas and that is me being generous. I'll bring the 100 gallon container. " good series your doing here"
@Hirt1026 You will wished you traded for some gas when it comes time to plant the spring crops. You will wish you had the tractor or a rototiller. I like you alot so I will trade you 50 round for one gallon of my gas.
@Hirt1026 We have a General Store with a gas station right smack in the middle of our little community (I thought about this when I moved my family here). tell you what... You provide the container, and I will trade you 50 gal of gas for a full acetylene cylinder. We have plentyof gas, but it won't last before it spoils. We need the gas welder, to build a wood gas generator to run the tractor on.
@GoatHollow We have a gas station about 1 mile away from my house if the power dies out wait for everything to slow down grab bunch of my buddies and bring my hand pump. For everything else i have plenty of ammo to trade of all different calibers. I think ammo will be a lot more valuable then gas.
@pinetar100 Iam just thinking the main ideas up then going off the top of my head. No practice runs just speaking from the heart. No script just a main thought that I want to get across.
try to use that gas up soon, if i remimber currectly gas becomes totally useless after 6 months, at least in engines so do use it up, and its been 3 months in wrol, and who knows how long its been at the gas station ill have to do a bit more research but you get what im saying
Awe man I can't believe this... Mr. Peterson?. We'll miss his stories. I remember the day he came back to town and you found him walkin with rags around his shoes. You did the right thing, you gave him back his belongings, his gun and provided him with some good shoes. That's how we should all treat our fellow man. God is smiling on you SP1.
You, sir, are a helluva storyteller. You should seriously consider writing a novel, about a WROL scenario. I, for one, would buy it, and I'm sure many more would.
i enjoy how you do these videos. they are entertaining, informative, and can very useful. you seem very intelligent. i wish your whole retreat well if/when SHTF

At least they might eat.

@mouthpiece200

Not a cakewalk..
rahfields 1 year ago
@jeffreylane7 The military might split up into different factions. They will no longer be paid in US dollars, but in stolen food and goods. For those who have a nice fortified community, the military will be your worst nightmare. There is not a chance in the world they will allow you to stockpile food when their fellow troops are hungry.
mouthpiece200 1 year ago

Great job with the vids.
R.I.P. Mr. Peterson

Lets trade give you some 7.62x39 for half of that gas :)
Hirt1026 1 year ago
@Hirt1026 I was thinking maybe 100 rounds of 7.62x39 for gallon of gas and you provide the container for it also.
southernprepper1 1 year ago
@southernprepper1 I say ammo would be worth a lot more than your gas. Gas mainly has a shelf life of 1 year. I'll give you 25 rounds 7.62x39 and 25 rounds of 223 and 1 chickens for half of the gas and that is me being generous. I'll bring the 100 gallon container. " good series your doing here"
Hirt1026 1 year ago
@Hirt1026 You will wished you traded for some gas when it comes time to plant the spring crops. You will wish you had the tractor or a rototiller. I like you alot so I will trade you 50 round for one gallon of my gas.
southernprepper1 1 year ago
@southernprepper1 Crops? I eat people. hahaha
Hirt1026 1 year ago
@Hirt1026 We have a General Store with a gas station right smack in the middle of our little community (I thought about this when I moved my family here). tell you what... You provide the container, and I will trade you 50 gal of gas for a full acetylene cylinder. We have plentyof gas, but it won't last before it spoils. We need the gas welder, to build a wood gas generator to run the tractor on.
GoatHollow 1 year ago

RIP Mr. Peterson, we will miss you.†

You, sir, are a helluva storyteller. You should seriously consider writing a novel, about a WROL scenario. I, for one, would buy it, and I'm sure many more would.
