(and no, the McLaren F1 was not a mass produced car) When someone refers to the quality, engineering & style of a European car, what they're referring to, whether they realize it or not, is the quality, engineering & style of a German car. I bought my Z06 thos past summer, while I love it their are "better" cars. I was surprised to get almost 29 mpg on the way home from the dealer from a car that made 130 mph in third gear when I banged a few gears. Road noise from the runflat tires can be bothersome on some road surfaces. All of that in consideration for just over $70k, I couldn't be happier and I would do it again. Looking to track it this coming summer!!!

Having had my Z06 since May, I can tell you the car is more than useable everyday. The car delivers 26 mpg at 75 mph and handles highway irregularities just fine. For street use the seats are supportive and the ride firm but not jarring. The car is as quiet on the highway as most midpriced small luxury cars. My money is used to buy performance. I don't care one bit about euro prestige. That disappears in a hurry when a Z06 is blowing their doors off for significantly less dollars.
it comes clsoe to ferraris on track performance but its not even clsoe to beign as good. Ferraris have luxur with sport performance and every day driveability. the z06 isnt htat fun to drive daily :(
uh no i dont drive anything yet but my uncle is exotics lover so ive tried driving or driven in alot of cars, and off the the track the z06 is load as shit and just not as comfortable. However theyre suposed to be fixing that soon.
09 not yet named Z06 replacement(Z07,SS,) is coming out with the same light body and 650hp to escalate the hp wars. Do yourselves a favor and gobble up any new model Corvette you can afford and garrage it. The newly passed CAFE gas mileage standards(which ever version they pass) will kill the power of all cars sold in America . RIGHT NOW IS THE NEW MUSCLE CAR ERA. IT IS OVER IN 2-3 YEARS. That is why Ford is letting Shelby go crazy with the new Mustangs and GM is going nuts with the Vette.
If you want a nicer interior, invest it in your living room. This is a performance car. Chevy could put a Rolls Royce interior in it then jack up the price 20K. What the fuck for?

Wisely you can uprade 20K more. 1/2 Motor and suspension, and you would have a car that handles and performes better than The best European Super cars. Still fo far less than any of them. American Engineering at its best.
All this, for $65-$68k price! Now that, my friends, is a legend. :)

Car and Driver hit 0-60 in 3.4 seconds with the C6 Z06, and also hit a top speed of 207 mph on the Autobahn! Ranger hit the 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds, on a FULL bone stock C6 Z06!
can u provide proof of that top speed number? GM's published top speed is 198 and i think some crazy arabs in dubi have a GPS proven 202 or 203. also ranger has hit a 10.8 1/4 but it may have been with an intake and some better rubber.
All I can say is that Car and Driver stated they hit 207 mph in the Corvette C6 Z06 on the Autobahn. They had the equipment all set up to see. So, it's only by their word.
In that same competition, they said they still prefer the Ferrari F430 if both were free, they'd pick it. So, it seems they're not biased toward the Corvette.
Even if both were free, I'd still take the Z06 for the value plus the insurance wouldn't be as stringent as it were for the Ferrari (which would be jacked up just on name alone).
