I worked for a company headed for closure. Partners were silent or lying, "we're fine, we'll weather this," was the company line. Meanwhile we stopped paying 16,000 vendors from our 12 offices. The company closed suddenly. We were told that there was no more money--but almost 100 million dollars was due in. Partners were hoping we'd just suck it up, and let them quietly divide the spoils without paying vacation, back and severance contract payments. Sad behavior from once respected bosses.
The sad thing is these trucking schools still lure in student drivers knowing how bad the industry is getting. Stay far away from these con-artist, stay far away!!!!
Geeze, this happened *looks up* four months ago and no news coverage at all? Regular retail businesses going out I can understand downplaying, but a major infrastructure company? Geeze...
Anybody else notice how just about every thing in the "media news" is either flat out lies or a distraction like kittens or rainbows, time to get wise people...
@DrJohnBecker, Swift is nothing but a training mill nowadays and that is pretty evident as to how they keep a whole mess of inexperienced drivers around and pays them shit to start. Swift may be the biggest but as a company they are very disorganized. I've never seen a company miss expenses on every other trip until I worked for them. Once that happened my trust in Swift vanished. To bad Swift can't be targeted for antitrust and broken up or can they?
To hear the main stream media sometimes you would think they are living on a different planet, Life is Beautiful All the Time. This has to be one of the funniest countries in the world for news by the folks that don't want to put anything in perspective. We are slowly going down the drain, financing illegal wars, wall street bonuses, inflating gov spending, and the list goes on and on. The year 2010 will be remember as the beginning of USA's final moments of sovereignty FOREVER!
It's coming out now that son who took over when the father died, pretty much took the company as his own personal piggy bank. Wait until you read the list of the stuff this guy owned. jets, fast cars, big spender. Mom was involved, but not as much as the son.
Obam just gave 100 million dollars to Haiti in their time of need, Why dont he do the same for these truckers in thier time of need, or the Homless in thier time of need. Explain that one.
Well the people running it had their hands in the cash box, and if you follow the local news here in Tulsa, you will see this and much more. Of course they know what is fixing to go down, in this country and they are wanting out quickly. Now I am not going to make you believe anything, however, the Olympics are start Feb 12th be ready for something awful to happen around that time. Watch whats happening with the Indians up there.
George on InflationUS was the first place I heard about this. He did a phone interview with a guy in the trucking industry as he explains what was going on with Arrow.
Like you said... there is a huge inventory problem as many US retailers aren't ordering anywhere near past capacity. George also does a lot of videos showing stores that have 50% to 90% off... basically shutting down.

You republicans need to brush up on your economics.
The trucking industry was doomed at the start of 2006 when the railroad industry refined their business and made shipping goods much cheaper than their trucking counterparts.
The trucking industry is in between railroads and services like UPS and FedEX.
Anyone who is even remotely into economics saw this coming from a mile away....so its obvious that most republicans would be surprised by this being that you ignore the important things.
Reading up on the 'net, apparently, Arrow Trucking's son took over 7 years ago and ran the company into the ground. I heard it became one of the worst trucking companies in the country, like their trucks weren't maintained, they screwed their drivers, yikes...good riddance!
-- ALmost all trucking firms have hard times , it is just question of time , when they will go bankrupt . Trucking bussiness is a hair from the buttom ...
obama obama obama! why is everything obama"s fault? a couple of days ago there was a guy who called in to a talk show and blamed obama for what happened to arrow trucking.
i still don,t see how what happened to arrow is obama,s fault. i agree he hasn,t lived up to his promises and expectations but if arrow was going to close their doors there is a right way and a wrong way. you don,t leave your empoyees high and dry. i,ve worked for a trucking company that closed it's doors and they didn't leave us stranded.
thanks for the intellegent reply. i did listen to some of the comments of the drivers and met some of them who were stranded at truckstops. none of them blamed the president for what happened. i just think the company could of handled it alot better. thanks again.
te people responsible for obama winning the nobel peace prize explained why he got it. their explainaion has merit. not all people who won this prestigeous award were sucessful with their goals but it was th atmosphere they created, the bold attempts despite oppostion. i don,t agree with everything he,s done but i don,t believe in blaming someone for something for which they are not responsible. i'm not a bush fan but i didn,t blame him for katrina either.
Lol I was being sarcastic dumbass. And he didn't do shit to win that prize. He goes around the world talking about peace peace peace and then he wins the prize?
And less than 3 months later, he sends another 30 thousand troops to afghanistan to continue the war.
i still don't see what obama hasn to do with arrow ging out of business and leaving it's drivers stranded and office personel high and dry. if you read my comment you'd see i stated i didn,t agree with everything he's done. the truth is there's no way he would have pleased people on the right no matter what he would have decided about the troop surge. furthermore is namecaling is where you want to go you got the wrong person. i'm not stooping to that level. your reply doesn't look sarcastic.
@GDCTT, govt over the decades literally fucked up the trucking industry where now it is nothing but abuses with unpaid overtime. Swift serves as a prime example on how new drivers get taken and Swift gets around a driver's home state overtime laws quite easily. Too many hours and so little pay. Even with 2+ years under my belt, the local work was paying shit and not accomodating a chance for me to work and educate myself. Also when you have any gap in experience, companies will turn u away.
people are so cynical now that mentioning the fact that obama campaigned on a platform of "change" and completely abandoned that notion gets laughed off as "politics as usual". No, obama is not directly responsible for the failure of every independent business, but his policies (extension of the Bush debacle) have contributed mightily.
i worked for arrow for two years in 1992 1994.they were great.i heard ever since mr pielsticker died, the son was running the company and he probably just said fuck it and took the money he could and said hell with everyone else.i have worked for alot of trucking companies and i have been ripped off so many times and screwed.i finally threw in the towel this last september 2009.i got stranded by a refer company out of watsonville ca.they are indian owned.they left me 800 miles away from home
Copenhagen treaty states that any produce that needs to be transported over 25 miles will have to be moved by rail. All trains will need to be totally electric by 2015 so if you're looking for a reason that should clear it up. Obama took down the trucking industry with the stroke of a pen
The 25 mile limit is unrealistic at best, there are too many places here in the U.S. alone you just can't get to by rail, so if we get called on that, too bad. Ask any Redskin about treaties.
Nearly 1,400 stunned former Arrow Trucking drivers received grim news just three days before Christmas that the Tulsa-based company was suspending operations.
Compliance for the Oklahoma Department of Labor, told Land Line on Monday, Dec. 28, that timeliness is key when submitting a wage claim form.
Hey Demcad; everything that you speak about comes from the mouth of George (InflationUS), Gerald Celente, Peter Schiff, Ron Paul, Drinking w/Bob, etc. How about some of your true personal insite; and not other folks take on things? Afterall, originality is the key*
Actually, Gerald Celente is predicting a third party movement in America, whereas I doubt TP will even get 10 seats in the U.S.
Ron Paul wants to end just about all entitlements, whereas I just want to end 80%. Peter Schiff believes that the system can be reformed, I think it is beyond repair. Drinking with Bob is far too anagry to compare to me. George is more into shock value.
So there are huge differences between me and those people. Please get your facts straight.
Hooray!!! Rejoice all u israelites!! (People of negro..(.not african,) and latino, and native american indian descent) the most high is ending our captivity in this shithole called USA (under satans authority) and getting ready to restore us to ETERNAL RULERSHIP over the white man!!!! And his brother nations!!we have completed our punishment for breaking the laws of the most high!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
get a life guys, this is no different then a business closing and chaining up their doors without notice, this is just on a bigger scale, if they have gone out of business, nothing you can do..yes it sucks not to get paid, or told anything, but suck it up, it is todays reality...suck it up, find your way back home, look for another job...
First this never has happened. You don't leave your workers out strandard. Keep sleep walking. Fema said follow the trail to their camps-your a perfect inmate, zombie.
dsmimms2009, I am a truck driver, us truck drivers deliver everything you have ever own EVERYTHING from the bottle you sucked on as a infant to the car you drive today. why don't you yourself get out there and try our job. You counldnt make it a week on the road doing what we do. The families at home doing without a husband and father. these people are the ones who bring the food you eat, the computer you type on, and the building materials that built you home. you need to have more respect.
@jakejr4, I have news for you, when the industry has a bias against drivers with gaps in experience or doesn't consider any experience as recent past a certain point and fails to consider your overall work experience, it is no longer a decent industry to work for and heaven forbid you leave that industry and build up your work skills in other areas in the event one needs an out from the continued abuses that still plague the industry today.
I got knocked out of trucking back in '04. A lot of small companies do this. There has been so many scams and shams since '01 its crazy.
You truckers that are stuck with trucks should sell the computers for $500 and the wheels for $100 each and what ever else you can save your ass with for winter. Sorry.
@theunbubba Unfortunately once those puppies are out of gas ...that's it. Unless the guys want to spend their own money to fill up the tank. lol. But really though, they can take the keys but the trucks will just be reposessed anyway unless they had a place to hide something that big!!
Actually in the state of Tennessee if you take out what is called a workmans lein you have first right of collection over even the bank loan. You should look into doing that in your state.
This is what kills me, Im a trucker, and I know that Arrow had recieved payment for loads shipped by customers, and instead of paying the drivers the last paychecks before they let the ball drop, they hid that money to padd thier own pockets for whats to come. With as many trucks as arrow had it is very possible that in one day just half of arrows customers paying a bill could generate as much as $500,000. (minumum) The asshole son of the former owner of arrow took that money and ran.
Thanks for spreading the word DEMCAD. I already heard this today through another source but this is huge. The more people like yourself spreading the real stories from the ground, the better off we'll all be.
I'm sorry to hear about Arrow Trucking declaring bankruptcy.. Recently a law was passed declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives.. Joining Texas, Montana and Utah as the only states to do so.. Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolina's, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Florida are likely to follow..
Arrow must have been one of the companies who refused to donate to the Obama campaign fund...
But the Auto companies were sure to recieve their bale outs from Obama though... People need to get the picture that Obama wants to run this country into the ground, he has underlying motives...
I feel bad for the truckers given the executives got big fat bonuses and probably severance packages. However, we need to stop relying on inefficient means of moving goods, which is by definition trucking from coast to coast. Trucking should be done within 100 miles of rail stops. I hope that the truckers can get some type of assistance, especially career help, to train for something different.
We the USA have no manufacturing so we need no trucking co.see how long it takes for arrow to set up in MEXICO.keep following this story youll see them restart in MEXICO.Remember the pesos worth more then the Dollar.
not surprised read a couple yrs ago ALL trucking co.would close 1 by 1and move to MEXICO set up shop there cause theyll be closer to the ports and distribution centers being setup in mexico city by AMERICAN co.thanks to the coming NORTH AMERICAN UNION agreement between US AND MEX governments.REPEAT AFTER ME "GOODBY MIDDLE CLASS".YOU can also google or youtube AGENDA 21 for further details.or youtube north american union.both of which are older stories but still in FULL effect.
i just wanted to say thank you for your report and concern. my husband was one of the 1000 stranded we got him home at the help of other drivers from other companies. it is very hard to handle but we will make it he has got a new job already we lost the pay from arrow that was to be our house payment and christmas for our kids but we will be ok.
What? No bailout for this old trucking company??? lol.
Just give it time....banks are closing every day without much ado on the news networks. Keep the sheeple calm by all means.
More trucking companies will shut down this coming year in a cascading collapse. I can hardly wait to see the sales #'s for this holiday season.
The house of cards is coming down. If you have any cash, invest in long term food storage, seeds, ammo, and other things you regularly use. 2010 is a year of shortages.
@DEMCAD As Wall Street prepares to announce some $30 billion in year-end bonuses, it has been handed an additional bit of Christmas cheer from Kenneth Feinberg, the special master for compensation appointed by the Obama administration ostensibly to rein in bankers pay.
Workforce Oklahoma is offering rapid response services for people affected by Arrow's suspended operations next Tuesday, during business hours, at the central technology center, in Sapulpa. Displaced workers can get information about insurance, jobs and community resources. The center is located at 1720 S. Main. For more information call 918-224-9430
BREAKING: New california regulation to cost 5000 trucking jobs on January 1st.
Californias new guidelines, which will ban all pre-1994 trucks as well as 1994-2003 rigs that havent been retrofitted with diesel particulate filters as of Jan. 1 of next year, will cut toxic emissions at the nations busiest harbor complex, a boon to the environment and to residents' health. No one knows exactly how many people will be affected by the new ban, but some estimates are as high as 5,000 truckers ...
Demcad, YRC is much bigger and they are on the verge of collapse with 55,000 employees. YRC, the largest U.S. trucking firm handling smaller, or less-than-truckload shipments, is struggling to stay out of bankruptcy and has hinged its hopes for financial restructuring on convincing bondholders to swap more than $500 million in debt for equity in the company.
But bondholders have been reluctant and YRC has repeatedly extended the offer deadline as it seeks to build bondholder participation.
LTL(less-than-truckload) is part of the trucking industry, not all of it. Think of a carrier like FedEx or UPS. That is LTL. YRC is the largest LTL company, not the largest US trucking company, as some would have you believe.
Thats crazy that this trucking company left drivers stranded around the country. They didn't even give them enough time to get home. It's bad enough for the shape of the economy. I think the new world order did this on purpose to stop or slow shipping and handling.
I worked horrible hours for CF, it was an awesome company at one time, Leland James would be ashamed, he started the company with one truck. They ran it into the ground and started Conway, not good.
This is huge!! I have been reading of the great post that everyone has been writing. Someone posted about buying food and supplies and I agree. Goodluck to these employees.
We all know. But this only proves how deep the Media is controlled by the government. If you hear from AP "sources say" that is from there Gestapo handlers in the beltway.
demcad think you hit nail on head ..is declining demand in my business have cut my freight by 60% fed ex shipping down 50 % also ... in 2008 my cuts were half as deep .. basically running 75 % now all my suppliers feeling the cuts .. feels like the new normal is gonna be 50 % of what it use to be.. the good life is gone thinking it ain't coming back either.. take care guys ...stock up on store supplies ..
Why do you think Warren Buffett bought that railroad recently. That guy knew it's gonna get REALLY BAD. Basically, trucking is going down. International shipping has gone down. Railroads are gonna be the major freight shipper in this country for a while.
I don't want to sound too alarmist, but if you put everything together and step back without emotion and look at the BIG picture, it appears that something MAJOR is going to happen soon....seed banks, economic upheaval, out of control gov, etc.
They hauled mostly drop and hook out of mexico.and into usa....and mostly construction materials.there .customers Construction Tycons...are awash in ruin..many truck companies wont get paid for their deliveries because customers bankrupt before the pay there sipping bill....
Also you have Charlie sheen (911 truth leader) arrested and Michael Badnarik (2008 libertarian pres candidate) Sudden Heart attack (2 days after interview with freedomlink). Interesting times we live in.
The problem as I see it is that there are too many people trying to draw a living from the actual efforts of people doing the work. The pie that once fed a family now barely feeds one. So where does the money to pay for the fuel come from? When I stop to think about it, I blows my mind how anything ever gets done.
PLEASE LISTEN UP. Since 2007, it has been documented that we as citizens of this once great country has been openly FLEECE. For example, our government announced in the middle of the night, that we must help our financial institutions, broker banks become banks over night. What is next? ARROW FLEECE THEIR EMPLOYEES. Our Federal Government will fleece us within 5 years. Don't wait. Start your preparation now. Take charge of your life. LIVE ON LESS in 2010, 2011 and 2012.. BE READY
You are right.... Who does this - leaves people stranded without any way to get home. What is going to happen to all the big rigs? Just leave them where they sit without gas? Unbelievable. And Warren Buffet bought a railroad not long ago... Hmmmm, very interesting.
Many people will be piss off against Buffet and Murdoch. But they are old ptbs anyway or reptilians. Definitely orchestrated by ptbs(not just in us by the way). The Reverend James Manning is gonna be piss again by this seriously. Gerald Celente is already warning about this with others. Thanks to demcad for this news.====tbc====....
Unbelievable that some of these truckers are STILL stranded in this oklahoma blizzard. Here is an example of just one report from the facebook page. Doug Palmer I have a stranded arrow driver here in Ga that has been stuck here since mon night... I cant do much for him except offer him a meal. He is going through a divorce and really does not have a home to go to. His truck was repossed and has no money. What should I tell him to do?
YRC is going under probably before the end of this yr. They are barely surviving. My husband was there 13 yrs & got laid off the first wk of December. As you said, the demand is low. People are not spending money. YRC is the bigging trucking company in the US and is only hanging by a thread.
What timing the man has. Buys a railroad last month and poof the trucking industry goes to hell. If you can't see what's happening in this country,
you never will. One of the largest long distance trucking firms goes under, what do you think will happen to prices of everything? Don't worry Warren can haul it on his trains at the price he says.
We are so screwed in this country and we sit and let them do this shit a little more everyday. Are we spinless slaves?
That was my exact thought when I saw this from Demcad. Warren Buffet buying Burlington Northern and boom trucking companies are cashing in and leaving town. These guys aren't in Tulsa they are in the Caribbean.
Anyone know how many jobs were lost here? The former employees final wages will probably be paid after liquidation of assets, just a guess on my part, and it will take years to sort out. This is quite ugly. Unfortunately, I expect more of this with other companies, not just trucking, in the future.
I believe it was 1400 actual employees (don't know if that included the 200 office workers) - but with all the "contract" 1099 truckers that worked for Arrow- I believe it will affect upwards of 12,000 people.
Seriously, I am thinking about buying some flooring and having it shipped. I would hate to think a few thousand dollars of my stuff was stranded in who knows where on a truck that has been abandoned.
It's the insurance, license fees, IFTA, ICC, DOT,and a whole alphabet soup of red tape strangling out the trucking industry. At first it wiped out the independent operations and now the larger companies are threatened. Could be why Warren Buffet bought BNSF? We've known that commerce is down in terms of volume overall and has been while most corperations have their own transports the smaller companies were the bread and butter of Arrow.
I worked for a company headed for closure. Partners were silent or lying, "we're fine, we'll weather this," was the company line. Meanwhile we stopped paying 16,000 vendors from our 12 offices. thanks for the intellegent reply. i did listen to some of the comments of the drivers and met some of them who were stranded at truckstops. none of them blamed the president for what happened. i just think the company could of handled it alot better. thanks again.

te people responsible for obama winning the nobel peace prize explained why he got it. their explainaion has merit. not all people who won this prestigeous award were sucessful with their goals but it was th atmosphere they created, the bold attempts despite oppostion. i don,t agree with everything he,s done but i don,t believe in blaming someone for something for which they are not responsible. i'm not a bush fan but i didn,t blame him for katrina either.
GDCTT 2 years ago
Lol I was being sarcastic dumbass. And he didn't do shit to win that prize. He goes around the world talking about peace peace peace and then he wins the prize?
And less than 3 months later, he sends another 30 thousand troops to afghanistan to continue the war.
GOD BLESS AMERICA. AND OBAMA,.
Yuilen 2 years ago
i still don't see what obama hasn to do with arrow ging out of business and leaving it's drivers stranded and office personel high and dry. if you read my comment you'd see i stated i didn,t agree with everything he's done. the truth is there's no way he would have pleased people on the right no matter what he would have decided about the troop surge. furthermore is namecaling is where you want to go you got the wrong person. i'm not stooping to that level. your reply doesn't look sarcastic.
GDCTT 2 years ago
@GDCTT, govt over the decades literally fucked up the trucking industry where now it is nothing but abuses with unpaid overtime. Swift serves as a prime example on how new drivers get taken and Swift gets around a driver's home state overtime laws quite easily. Too many hours and so little pay. Even with 2+ years under my belt, the local work was paying shit and not accomodating a chance for me to work and educate myself. Also when you have any gap in experience, companies will turn u away.
shaithis45 1 year ago
@shaithis45 I agree with you 100%. That's why Swift seems to be buried in a mountain of legal problems now.
GDCTT 1 year ago
people are so cynical now that mentioning the fact that obama campaigned on a platform of "change" and completely abandoned that notion gets laughed off as "politics as usual". No, obama is not directly responsible for the failure of every independent business, but his policies (extension of the Bush debacle) have contributed mightily.

Copenhagen treaty states that any produce that needs to be transported over 25 miles will have to be moved by rail. All trains will need to be totally electric by 2015 so if you're looking for a reason that should clear it up. Obama took down the trucking industry with the stroke of a pen
JesusNonEnviromental 2 years ago
The 25 mile limit is unrealistic at best, there are too many places here in the U.S. alone you just can't get to by rail, so if we get called on that, too bad. Ask any Redskin about treaties.

*cue in the genius Mr.Celente
chisumo 2 years ago
Actually, Gerald Celente is predicting a third party movement in America, whereas I doubt TP will even get 10 seats in the U.S.
Ron Paul wants to end just about all entitlements, whereas I just want to end 80%. Peter Schiff believes that the system can be reformed, I think it is beyond repair. Drinking with Bob is far too anagry to compare to me. George is more into shock value.
So there are huge differences between me and those people. Please get your facts straight.

But bondholders have been reluctant and YRC has repeatedly extended the offer deadline as it seeks to build bondholder participation.
skyding8962 2 years ago
LTL(less-than-truckload) is part of the trucking industry, not all of it. Think of a carrier like FedEx or UPS. That is LTL. YRC is the largest LTL company, not the largest US trucking company, as some would have you believe.

dixiegirl999 2 years ago 3
Two words; Warren Buffet.

Anyone know how many jobs were lost here? The former employees final wages will probably be paid after liquidation of assets, just a guess on my part, and it will take years to sort out. This is quite ugly. Unfortunately, I expect more of this with other companies, not just trucking, in the future.

I believe it was 1400 actual employees (don't know if that included the 200 office workers) - but with all the "contract" 1099 truckers that worked for Arrow- I believe it will affect upwards of 12,000 people.
