You sound more libertarian than liberal. The Tea Party was highjacked by warmongering neocons and Christian Zionists, which do not represent the views of those who started the movement. The Tea Party was not intended to be a pro-war movement but many misguided people who call themselves conservative are pushing us to go to war with Iran. As for Obama I would give him credit for at least stalling the push for war but his days in office are numbered.
@sovereignty4us To be honest, I self identified as a libertarian for quite some years. I still hold strong to the idea that 'If youre doing no harm, you shouldnt be bothered."
As I've learned more about climate change and economics, I've seen that there is almost no action you can take that doesn't potentially harm someone else. That has pulled me more to the left of the political spectrum than I ever would have imagined. These days, I just call myself a rationalist. I follow the evidence
Myself, I didn't vote. And I see no difference between Bush and Obama.
I'm sick of the "Christian Nation" BS. Hell, I'm rather sick of the "Nation" BS period.
Maybe we can all unite: conservatives, athiests, christians, liberals, and decide that once we get this leviathan off our backs we can leave each other alone instead of scrambling for the reigns of oppressive power...
I've always been, for the most part, a Liberal. In my view, ownership of firearms *is* a liberal ideal. Back in the day in Europe the only ones allowed to bear arms were the nobility and the armies they mustered. I've always taken shit from other self labeled liberals for that stance, but it looks like myself and other on the 'left' who feel the same way are starting to win others over. Your vid was a nice little boost. Thanks
Thanks, it was all a bit over the top. I meant it as a shock piece to counter the tea parties revolutionary theme. I did vote for Obama, but I'm hardly a liberal. Even though im a gun nut, im also quite a pacifist. Thanks for watching.
The tea parties were instituted by Fox news and the GOP. They were not a 'grass roots' movement. It was just an attempt to strengthen the conservative movement for the next election
Ya, that was part of the joke. The 'grass roots' movement that was started by the leaders of the Republican and conservatives ended up being a big joke. Conservatism is getting more marginalized every year here in the US.
Honestly, this worries me. They might be Bass Akwards on social issues, but any good democracy needs voices of restraint, as well as voices of progress. The Republican party used to be about limiting the powers of the Federal government, and for keeping taxes lower.
I've always been an independent voter, but Im also a realist. If the secular vote had gone to a 3rd party candidate instead of Obama, we would be living under the Mcain admin right now. To me, O was a far better choice.
I dont watch TV, I just catch clips here on youtube. Most of the tea parties looked to be conservative conventions to me. Especially the one in the town where I live. Glen Beck et al are also not independents. They clearly support the republicans.
Conservatives.. you lost.. it's supposed to suck.. get over it. Loosing != Tyranny no matter how much you want to pretend it does. Conservatives got us here.. so you have nobody but the conservatives to thank for all of this.
Really? all I saw were a bunch of people with pro god and anti Obama signs. Plus, they referenced the 1775 tea pary, which was about taxation without representation.
Last I checked, Obama was elected in a legal, democratic election. And every citizen in the US has a representative with a vote in congress.
It just looked like sour grapes because they lost the election.
