So. There you guys can stop arguing. 38mpg is not unheard of, it could have been a lot of coasting or a downhill trip... who knows. Also, how long is the average over? Did you go 3.8 miles down a hill and use a tenth of a gallon or what?
@VivaLaBamEpisodes .. The 38mpg was what the trip computer displayed over a 12 hour drive from Halifax to Montreal (apx 1500km), and actual fuel costs reflected that. It was all highway driving between 100-120km/h.
@mtlmikeh Trip computer in my GTP is not 100% acurate, its best to do the math by hand. When my trip says 22mpg I am really getting like 19mpg. These cars do get good mpg at 45-70mph but the faster you go after 45 the worse the mpg gets. I just did a 800 mile trip and my average speed was 77mph and got 30.02mpg and my car is not new by any means, has 170k miles!
@Iwasbored76 You must be american or something. A US gallon is different from a standard gallon. Usually in Canada (and the rest of the modern world) we measure consumption in Litres per 100km (L/100KM), but we can also measure gas in MPG. So 38 MPG on Planet Earth is around 28 MPG in the United States. If you're only getting 21 MPG then you are driving your car too hard. I don't think I ever needed to take my 3800 series over 3000rpm to have adequate acceleration and passing power.
i have a '04 pontiac grand prix GT 3.8L v6 and it has dual exhaust and a spoiler, but i'm not sure what models come with or without dual exhaust or a spoiler
it is the gt2 i got one my fuckin g/f crashed it 2 days ago i put 2 dual magnaflows n fuck i was gonna show the bastards at wrk my new exhaust today when you put magnaflows i heard it adds 30-50 horses my gt2 is 270 horsepower now but she fucked up my axel on my drivers side wheel n fucked up my bumper thank god the lights are ok
The GXP has 303hp V8? ha! The BMW 335i Coupe has a 3.0L I6 with 300 hp! Again...pathetic for Pontiac! And the BMW is RWD! Or even the 4 door M3 with 464hp..or the 4 door Mercedes Benz with 461 hp...I mean come on..better cars/luxury/better made/more power/...
Yeah but keep in mind the price difference the GXP is under 30 or just at 30 grand depending if you buy it new or used I'm unsure aof the beamer 335i but Im sure they go for 30+grand new or used and as far as a m3 and benz lol suddenly we're in a different price category look at the new G8 30 grand + like your 335i but has 360+hp v8 engine and wait until the g8 gxp comes out lol then we'll see how your benz and m3 compare
nice ride i gotta 04 GP gt II with the heads up display, i got 5 options instead of the 3 buttons on your drivers info..i think the ones i have that u dont are the gas and wiper buttons..also i gotta stock 6 disc changer in it too ... get a gt2 they are nicer
Wish i was 25 at least i would of gotton a GT One for 9,000 out the door with under 50,000 miles but im 19 so im getting the none GT Version :) my 6 month bill would be 1600 if i got a GT pff ppl ruin the fun for everyone else.
I LOVE the gauges when u start them up there soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!!
i love my 04- n i get way better milage then its rated for, givin that i drive it with a light foot which i do- i baby this car. i want to put some exhaust on it though give it a bit more rumble, im worried bout interior noise though. this car is pretty quiet inside which is a big point that sold me on it. that and how the seat adjusts, very comfortable. any sugestions for exhaust? lots of deep throaty sound outside- nothing crazy for volume, very quiet inside are my wants
No problems at all and a great car for the price, but I moved to downtown Montreal where a car is not only useless but a pain to have. I say good riddance to parking, gas, insurance, etc.
grand prix... yea.. I have the 04 supercharged... its so fast when I take off and you sitting up, you'll be sitting back in your seat in no time... O and the girls like it they say it's it's a sexy car!
Biggest mistake ever to buy this car brand new. It loses its value so quickly its not even funny. Probably biggest mistake ever to buy this car period.
I would totally agree. Any car (but especially N.A. cars) are a big waste of money new. I always buy when they are a few years old just to take advantage of the depreciation. This Grand Prix was not even 2 years old w/ 50K and I paid $12500 (Canadian). It was $30K new. And I sold 2 years after that (with 80K) for $10,000. In all fairness, it was 2 years of absolutely trouble free driving, and a fantastic long distance highway cruiser, so not bad for the $1250/year it cost me.
ha lol to youlickmyass. i have grand prix and that 3.8l 200hp engine kicks ass. i love the grandprix and like 2kwolfgang said, its a very reliable engine. you dont know what a grand prix can do until you have actually driven one youlickmyass. its a great engine and a great car
No, this is a regular GT from the first year of new model, so it has the standard ~200hp 3.8L V6. It does have the dual factory exhaust (w/ four outlets).
Ya, it was a really great car. Bought it w/ 45K using insurance payout when my 2001 Impala LS was written off in a NAF collision. Drove it for a couple years in Halifax Nova Scotia til about 75K but moved to downtown Montreal Quebec recently where a car is useless and a pain in the neck so cashed in before the depreciation took a nose dive.
NOT owning a car has been very liberating. Don't pay insurance, plus no gas, parking, repairs or govt fees. I walk when I can, and take the subway when I can't. Plus here in Montreal there are many car sharing services where u pay $1.50/hr and 0.25/km (gas incl) to use their cars. They have like 60 parking lots across the city where you can grab a set of wheels anytime you need. They only have Toyota Yaris / Matrix, but a cars a car, and no insurance to pay (just $35/year)
I've put 85,000 miles on my 04 Grand Prix GT. On several trips the best mpg it ever got was 28. I think 38 is not realistic.
spockistheman 1 year ago
@spockistheman "mpg" are different in the U.S. than elsewhere in the world due to americans using a different size of gallon than usual.

@mtlmikeh My fault, didn't realize it was in a different country. Nice car, I love mine!

@mtlmikeh 1 US Gallon = 0.8 Imperial Gallons = 3.7 Liters.

@mtlmikeh I know it's a year later but anyway.
Actually in most of latin america we measure consumption in Kilometers per Liter.
That 3800 engine is really good, my 97' firebird has over 250k miles on it and is still going strong.
