theres something about that song that is uplifting how this movie doesnt get more attention when people mention great movies movies is a mystery to me
2:05 BenChaplin (Brit-born?) played well too. Hope he got more money than 2FACEd georgeclooney (Martini+coffee advertiser, recession-struck HOLLYWOODstar). I am glad I've also found SomeBODY Special (+Sumthing Sublime) to believe in. Nowadays, epecially in morally, culturally + financially bankRUPT broken/sinking UK, one needs Super Stuff to keep going. UNlike me, lazy faRt Brits believe in: screwing their own kids+other minors, taking cockaine, boozing, doing Oral+ ANAL4 BLACKS, hooliganism...
A great movie i liked it how there wasnt really a main character but all cameo roles. When i first saw it i thought clooney would have a much longer role.
i wouldnt say it was superficial and shallow. it was not nearly as deep or poignant as this movie, but i did think it had it's moments. much more a war movie, as the thing red line was more a movie that takes place during a war, if you know what i mean.
This 3 min trailer has more substance and evokes more feelings than some of the garbage movies usually out in theaters. The Thin Red Line is simply a brilliant movie.
That year this film competed with "Saving private Ryan" and "Shakespeare in love". Shakespeare in love won best film. Saving private Ryan won best directing. This film deserved at least best adapted screenplay, best photography, best editing or best music and won none. Other great performances? Who remembers "Shakespeare in love"? Saving private Ryan and/or The thin red line made cinema history. They in hindsight are the ones that most people remember and they made people realize the price of WW2
I thought the film was an extraordinary masterpiece of cinema, that truly transcended it's genre and medium. It's beautiful, tragic, engrossing, thought provoking, poetic, emotional, and intellectually satisfying. It's not only the quintessential anti-war film, but it is one of the quintessential films of the 20th century.
Hi Im desperatly searching the song between 1:30 and 2:00. I think Its the instrumental version of "God Yu Tekem Laef Blong Mi" but I can't find it. Anyone could help me ?
Isn´t it easier if you just buy it? It´s not the same watching a film on a computer anyway, being interrupted all the time by chapters. Buying makes a statement. That way you show appreciation for the hard work put in the film. This film really deserves your full attention.
there wa sa video in here that it had that name and it ad the song polaying so it was the same time i heard that from mozgila u can download vids from u tube soo i downloaded it took out the music and made it mysefl :D but thanks ;)
This movie is a masterpiece, i haven`t seen a better movie than this one. This is not just the best movie ,this is a wonderful piece of art. If the perfection exists than this movie is the perfection.
One of the Best war movie ever, the music just made the movie so much more emotional, the thoughts of each soldier makes u think how much we take for granted each day. Better movie then Saving Ryan's Private's. :)
Love this movie, everything about it is great, story, actors, soundtrack....amazing!! The trailer doesnt do the movie justice though. Anyone see the original 'Thin Red Line'? A little different to the remake, Witt actually lives, but he's a nutcase! :op
The reason, in my opinion, that this great film is so underrated is because it was in the shadows when Saving Private Ryan was running in theaters. This might not be the case, but probably.
There was a certain OTHER WWII film that came out that year from a more commercial direction, and one too many people got on Malick's case for the changes that he made to Jones' prose.
Which is a shame, I'm told. Own it. Definitely must watch it someday.
same here oherregud, its the song from the very end of the movie when *cough* can't say what happens... i freakin can't find it but i know its like han zimmer or something
this movie speaks to you in ways that other war films havnt been able to do, i first saw this movie when i was 12 and ever since then i looked at the world differantly i went fromt he black and white war movies to saving privte ryane to this one the black and white films glorified war saving private ryane around 12 also it scared me but left no real outlook on anything, this movie bothered me and opened my eyes to the point of wating it many many many times every time i watch it i fel the same
fantastic film. its hard to compare all types of war films ithink because it depends on what kind of war film they are. like for example can you compare somthing like jarrhead with no battle in it to somthing like spr or the thin red line or even downfall which is one of the best ww2 war films imo
ive seen this, BOB, apocalypse now, SPR, Schindlers list, etc. And I have to say regardless of it's undeveloped characters The Thin Red Line is the my favorite war and just movie of all time, followed closely by BOB and Three Kings.
Oh and this movie was good but it felt unfinished. There was not much of a story to the film and the characters were undeveloped. This movie had great potential. Saving Private Ryan is better that this movie. Saving private ryan is the best war film.
thats because mallick was forced to heavily edit by the studio for theatrical release, thank fox and the producers for this, there is an unedited version but it would be like 5 hours long
u guys are dumbfucks. the only reason u guys are saying saving private ryan sucks is cuz everyone says its a great movie but u fags just wanna disagree with everyone cuz u guys think ur so cool and shit. fucking fags
No, its because we have a brain, TRL as a much deeper message than SPR. Its not a war movie, its a movie about men in War. Thats all the difference. If u can't get it got back to your Rambo movies with no message behind them, just showing war cause Americans like it
When trailers are released its usually before the score is finished/recorded so they use generic music or take it from another movie, so what you're looking for is probably from another movie's score.
they released a cd with just melanesian religious choirs. it's called "the blessed islands". you can find all the choirs from the movie and others by those natives on it.
Terrance Malick directs beautifully shot, well acted films held back by disjointed storytelling and boring paces, thsi being one of them. Too bad, he's got some talent. It's no wonder his films get critical acclaim, but he never makes a big box office splash. If he can pair his artistic talent with summer blockbuster action and accessibility, maybe he'll become a household name like Spielburg, Ridley Scott and George Lucas.
And the best war movie is Band of Brothers ( ok it's not a movie, it's a mini series.....But it kicks ASS......Full Metal Jacket is a good one too......but i agree with most of you guys.....saving private ryan sucks.
BOB is great because they had nine fucking hours to develop the story. Full Metal Jacket is like two movies in one, the first half is good and the second is awful.
do you know the title of the song that starts at 1.29 till 2.01? I know the title of the last one, that is "Yu holem hand blog me"... but i was looking for the orcherstra version.
its good to see that the trailer for this actually represented what the film was (except for the fact that george clooney entire part is pretty much the clip in the trailer ha). i think they messed up with new world and tried to sell it as an action film.
No. It's still "The Thin Red Line." The second would be "Apocalypse Now." Then the third would probably be "Letters from Iwo Jima", and "Pan's Labyrinth." "Grave on the fireflies", and "Full Metal Jacket" would also be on my list. With "Platoon", and "Patton." :)
Schindler's List is the best, followed by SPR. Pan's Labyrinth is half war half fantasy and the war part sucked. Thin Red Line is a terrific film but I think it has too many characters so they're all left undeveloped. I'd say its the best war film set in the Pacific campaign

Saving Private Ryan is a very superficial and shallow movie compared to The Thin Red line.
Maybe one day it will be re-edited with the scenes lost to keep it under three hours and then its full potential will be realized.

'bout tragedies of war and extreme condition that leads humanity to insanity! Ain't it?
And the word 'thine red line' means the state which the diffenrence of sanity and insanity are little.
