  • Right, Kat. March 3 1958 I was in the Southampton Gaumont watching him and the Crickets. Best concert ever.

  • * * * * *

  • just the best'

  • Among the British artists influenced by Buddy Holly were the Hollies. In fact they Hollies named themselves after Holly (as in Buddy...not the tree or shrub genus Ilex).

  • @MrPJ1954 haha yeah, but what about the Beatles?

  • @seanki98

The Beatles didn't name themelves after Buddy Holly. I'm sure that the decision to name their group The Beatles was influenced by the name The Crickets.

I read somewhere that when Buddy Holly, Joe B. Mauldin and Jerry Allison were trying to decide on a band name, one of the names considered was The Beetles but the thought of a beetle getting stepped on was too gross.

    I must look into this...

  • Keith Richards, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Pete Townshend and Bob Dylan all acknowledge Buddy's influence on their music.

  • Legend.

  • I am so happy that I have this song on an ep record. It's a great song!

  • I always think of the movie Christine every time I hear Buddy Holly.

  • Fantastic song I have been a Buddy Holly fan since 1958 and have not heard any one match his fantastic voice and talent.Playing your songs everyday to cheer me up.

  • Twas 3 FEB 59, the day the music died. RIP & AMDG.

  • life and death at the toss of a coin feb 1958

  • @kat197603 february 1959 not 58

  • I swear modern "artists" are trying to destroy the music industry rather than make it better. That's what it seems like.

  • Buddy is one of my inspirations for music. His sound is so pure and it will always live on, even with all of the stuff that is popular nowadays

  • i gotta believe that there is a god .... cause only god could create someone like buddy

  • @mezansky Agree.devine intervention!

  • still great after all these years

  • Maxi, Maxi Rodriguez runs down the wing for me!

  • @DonDavidson What does that have to do with the song..

  • @PortalToStarWars The usual idiocy. If they can't relate it to a video game or a half-assed TV show or movie, they can't relate at all.

  • @DonDavidson hahaha class :)
